Re: 2012 53 man Roster predictions
Well I wouldn't be surprised if Helu sits the rest of the preseason. I hear his foot is going to be an issue probably for the year, he's getting second opinions though. He has to decide basically does he battle through it and maybe get surgery in the off-season or does he need the surgery now and potentially miss half the season. Will say more when I know more
There is always the Landry option... |
Re: 2012 53 man Roster predictions
well thats a kick to the nuts. lotta playmaking potential. *door opens for Alfred Morris

Ugh, don't remind us. Isn't a sore Achilles what started Landry's injury problems? |
Re: 2012 53 man Roster predictions
Is it me, or are there just a ton of injuries to this team this year before they have even played their 2nd preseason game? The Washington Redskins = The Washington Wounded

Injuries all over the league, plenty of teams are worse off. You have to take them with a grain of salt too. If this was the regular season a lot of these guys would still be ready to play come Sunday. This time of year teams play it safe and sit guys out. |

I'll take the injuries now and not by week 4 of the regular season as was the case last year. |

Knock it down to 2 preseason games to get the rust out and figure out who to keep from these other 40+ guys in camp based on practice and scheduled scrimmages with other teams where certian types of hitting or rules are in place to limit the really hard contact. With that being said, our guys are getting hurt in practice not in games. |
Re: 2012 53 man Roster predictions
It's football, injuries are going to happen. They already greatly reduced the amount of OTA's and contact practices.
It's football, injuries are going to happen. They already greatly reduced the amount of OTA's and contact practices.
Agree 100%, one thing the NFLPA did gain in a big way in the new CBA is limits on OTAs, contact practices, etc.

We're in MUCH better shape than most teams. We haven't lost a real star player. Jammal Brown is our biggest-name major injury and that should have been expected. Kory Lich and Trent are minor, they'll be fine Week 1. Chargers lost their starting RB Mathews. Broncos RG Kuper just broke his arm. Colts LB Angerer broke his foot. Titans WR Britt still questionable to start the season. Bears Urlacher just had minor knee scope. 49ers Aldon Smith has some kind of hip injury. Seahawks WR Sidney Rice hurt his shoulder. Steelers RB Mendenhall and NT Casey Hampton questionable for Week 1. Eagles QB Vick hurt his throwing hand, Mike Patterson out indefinitely, Jason Peters out for the year. Giants have a ton of injuries on D - T. Thomas, Canty, Shaun Rogers. Saints RB Sproles just did something to his knee. Cowboys Miles Austin and Mike Jenkins may not be ready Week 1. Browns RB Trent Richardson is scaring them already. Ravens Suggs out at least until Week 9. We've been lucky so far. |
Re: 2012 53 man Roster predictions
Kory L is coming off major knee surgury...thats not minor.
|
Re: 2012 53 man Roster predictions
Started a new thread with news of Neild's season ending injury, so it doesn't get buried here
Nothing serious with Hankerson. Dehydrated as I said |

Yeah but his latest scope was minor, I think that's what he was saying |

Hasn't the NFL already greatly reduced OTAs and full-contact practices? For a lot of those bubble players, I don't think 2 preseason games are enough to get a good look. |

Re: 2012 53 man Roster predictions
Regarding Helu I wish he could stay healthy because he flashes good stuff out there. But you gotta give props to this FO and the coaches for going into every season w/ a RB stable.

It's too bad though, because we needed that speedier, shiftier back that Helu was for us. Not that I'm wishing injury on anyone, but it almost would have been better if this happened to Royster, that way we are replacing him with a RB of similar skill set... |

Re: 2012 53 man Roster predictions
QB: RGIII, RGI, KC
RB: Hightower, Royster, Helu (morris to PS) FB: Young TE: Davis, Cooley, Paul WR: Garcon, Moss, Morgan, Hankerson, Armstrong, Briscoe OT: Williams, Polumbus, Black (compton to PS, Brown to IR/retirement) OG: Lichtensteiger, Chester, Hurt, Gettis (leribeus to PS) C: Montgomery, Cook (who still sucks) Total offense: 25 DT: Cofield, Golston, Baker DE: Carriker, Bowen, Jenkins, Scott (Neild to IR) OLB: Orakpo, Kerrigan, Wilson, Jackson ILB: Fletcher, Riley, Alexander, White, Robinson (or kehl and robinson to PS) FS: Williams, Jackson SS: Meriweather, Doughty CB: Hall, Wilson, Griffin, Barnes, Crawford Total Defense: 25 S/T: gano (maybe), rocca, sundberg total 53, and 4-5 more on the PS (as noted) dejon gomes doesn't fit, but i wouldn't be surprised if someone else (like, uh, cook or rex) eats it instead. I think this is a pretty good guess though. |

I'm pretty sure it works like this: if you have been on a game active roster (not the 53 man roster but the game day roster) more than 8 times you can no longer be on any PS. Kehl has that in more than one season. Also, I think they will keep some young draftees on the 53 man roster (i.e. LeRibeus and Morris) because they have to clear waivers before they can be signed to the practice squad. |

THIS. Good talent, nice depth. Plenty of oppurtunity to slide into some injury reps, maybe a solid backup position with our rotating and ever evolving line. |

Yeah, not sure about the nice age comment. My opinion that he will not get cut is based on the sizable role he has seen already in practice/the Bills game. And hey, he's healthy (knock on wood). We can't say that about everyone else. |

I kinda hope Campbell makes it. High character guy with a lot of untapped potential. Regardless, it would be nice if just one piece of crap we throw against the wall sticks. |

I thought the guy was younger.. I could have swore he was 4th or 5th year........Anywho, 32 isn't ancient or anything, Olineman can have relatively long shelf lives. But we would definitely prefer one of our young guys to outplay him, sure. But in the limited action Ive seen him in when he played for the Jags, he actually did a decent job. |
