Wow nice throw by Fitz to the Rook Brown
Pretty sure that was Allen at QB. Regardless though, great (training camp) play. |
Re: Jonathan Allen Signs - Training Camp begins Tomorrow
Matt Ioannidis and Curtis Samuel moved to Covid list. Ioannidis practiced today and left a little early. Bad scenario might be unfolding here for Washington

Why? There's quite a few reports where vaccinated people are getting pretty sick and are considered "super spreaders." Not to mention, there are thousands of others who are having some serious adverse effects per the vaccine. Some of y'all are peculiar individuals by constantly telling people what to do, particularly with something as serious as what goes into their bodies. A trial/emergency shot, which what it is technically speaking. Just let people do what they consider best for them and their bodies. I know I helped to derail the thread, but let's keep this on Jonathan Allen and training camp. |

J. Allen is really good!! Glad we kept him. Go Team!

My position has pretty much 0% to do with medical considerations (I wouldn't have commented in this thread if that was the case). From that standpoint I'm all for your body your choice and I get young healthy people want to take time to make this decision. From a football standpoint though, like it or not, with the NFL covid rules, not being vaccinated is going to be a competitive disadvantage (preparation, tests, missing games etc...) and we now how much the NFL is a health/availability league. If some of our key players miss regular seasons games because of not being vaccinated and getting the covid/being in contact with someone having it... it could derail a potentially very promising season ! That's my concern. 100% football issue, the rest is none of my business. |

Keep believing people who aren't vaccinated are the only ones spreading the virus. There's loads of legitimate reports of vaccinated people getting the virus, and they're not exactly getting it from non-vaccinated folks. So, spare me the trite "selfish" riot. It's their bodies and their choice. |

Well, at least you're honest. Once the league starts dealing with vaccinated players and coaches testing positive, then you'll see a change in their policies for positive tested players and coaches. I could very well be wrong, but I sense this will be the case. |

I could very well be wrong, but I sense this will be the case.
Maybe it'll change... I really don't know. All I know is if I was earning millions to play ball, and I knew that not being vaccinated could cost my team some games, even if I thought the rule was stupid, even if I was scared of the vaccine, I'd look at the millions of people who got the shot and are fine, look at my teammates who got the shot and are fine, look at the upcoming schedule, and go "meeeh, give it to me and let's move on". Again, not saying I wish it was mandatory, not saying the NFL process is perfectly adapted to the situation (very little research on the subject), all I know is not having enough vaccinated players wasn't on my list of reasons why a football team loses games... |

I'll say again, this is a trial "vaccination," and no one is really aware of the long-term effects. There's a bunch of people who are currently dealing with adverse effects per the shot. Watch what I tell you.... Vaccinated players and coaches will eventually test positive, and the league will change their protocol midstream. |

Not only could it cost us some guys, Ron is high risk due to his previous cancer. I guess we should just let Ron go now for his personal safety and hire a coach who can stand up to COVID. |

But I was trying to not derail this thread too much :D Strictly from a football standpoint, it's a disadvantage. |

Back to 100% football news, apparently Heinicke has had some 1st team reps, so the QB competition is not completely fake.

Headed down to training camp. I will post pics if I get any decent ones.

Re: Jonathan Allen Signs - Training Camp begins Tomorrow
Not trying to poo poo things but giving TH a few snaps with the starters here and there doesn't sound like much of a "competition". We all know who the starter is, it was obvious the day RF signed. I think Ron just wants to make sure to work TH in to keep him ready, KA too.

Re: Jonathan Allen Signs - Training Camp begins Tomorrow
Montez Sweat is letting Sam Cosmi know that he can't block him. The competition has picked up a up for sure on Day 3. It's hot out here so tempers are short. #WFT #WashingtonFootballTeam

I also think the extra snaps TH has gotten is because Kyle Allen is returning from his injury. Although Allen is getting the work, Ron has mentioned that they are looking to see how Allen is recuperating from his injury. And yes, I think this is Fitz' job alredy. |

Lake Lewis
I saw one altercation between Reyes and some others where Reyes had to be pulled apart, otherwise didn't see alot of tension. Re: Jonathan Allen Signs - Training Camp begins Tomorrow
I like that picture of CY and Sweat…fist bumping JDT.
Call me cray but I like that edge pass rushing combo over most…the challenger would be the Cleveland or Broncos… I’ll take our guys as the best duo with the most upside in the league |

Yeah it's definitely not a 50/50 competition. It's Fitz' job (Ron admitted that when saying "it's his to have"). But Ron says he didn't want to make last year's mistake again, and he's been talking about this 2 men competition quite a lot. So while we all know whose job it is, it's good to see that, at least for the purposes of having a good competitive TC, there is indeed a bit of splitting 1st teams reps. |

Nobody’s moving Chase Young off the line of scrimmage, he can either slip it and reestablish the edge or just straight up take on the block and stand you up. That ability is wicked because it neutralizes the advantage that guys like Lane Johnson or La’el Collins would normally have on you. |
Re: Jonathan Allen Signs - Training Camp begins Tomorrow
I will say Montez Sweat and Reyes just looked huge, even when Sweat stood next to Chase.

Re: Jonathan Allen Signs - Training Camp begins Tomorrow
The breakdown of Logan Thomas' deal, starting with cap hits per year: (2022: $6.465 million); (2023: $8.75 million); (2024: $8.315 million). Dead cap charges by year: (2022: $7.465 million); (2023: $3.5 million); (2024: $1.75 million). He receives a $300,000 roster bonus each year. He receives up to $425,000 in a roster bonus each year plus an additional $500,000 roster bonus on the fifth day of the league year in 2024.
Safe and good deal IMO for Thomas. He earned it and opened eyes last year. I think this extension is even more confidence by the staff that he can get better |
Re: Jonathan Allen Signs - Training Camp begins Tomorrow
Jon Allen's new deal, starting with cap hits (2022: $9.5 million); (2023: $21.5 million); (2024: $21.5 million); (2025: $23 million). It lowered his 2021 hit to $7.1 million. He gets up to $1 million in a roster bonus each year plus a $500,000 workout bonus each season. Dead cap charges by year: $26 million; $18 million; $12 million; $6 million. The total guaranteed money: $35.6 million. His 2023 base salary of $14 million becomes fully guaranteed of the third day of that league year.
Both these breakdown of deals provided by Keim. Looks like Allen has an out after 2024, but good deal. |
