I'm just going by his attitude and the way he presented himself overall. He seems to be very aware of the kind of player he is and someone that has learned from his past mistakes. And he seems to be motivated to be a great player for reasons other than just a big paycheck. I could be totally wrong of course, that was just my impression of him as a person. He seems to have his head on straight and his priorities in order.
I agree that he made a good impression but thats all it is, an impression. He knows what to say and what the fans want to hear. Its impossible to tell if his head is on straight and whether he'll play for that big check. Time will tell. |
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
PSLs weren't Snyder's idea. Snyder also isn't buildng a new stadium. Teams having a desire to maximize their earnings isn't Danny's fault. The NFL is a cash cow. It has a fantastic product, but teams only get 8 regular season games all year to turn a profit from the live fan. That's the reason it's much more expensive to go to games than any other major sport.
Are Snyder or any other owners supposed to be "nice" to the fans by keeping all prices (tickets, concessions, etc) dirt cheap? It's a nice thought but a suicidal business model. I don't like how expensive all things NFL have become, but it is what it is. It's not Snyder's fault, and it's not gonna change either.
Did you read my post, becuase it doesn't seem like it by your response. Never said they were his idea, but the way he runs his business(this case the Skins) is detrimental to the league as a whole.Nothing wrong with an owner being a fan but you need to be able to seperate yourself and he just doesn't or can't do that. That turn the profit thing well ....there just isn't enough time, most the profit comes from the TV rights, where he and others(just not him)gouge the fan is by the things I said ................About being nice to the fans ........yes.They(we) are the ones that matter,so it's ok by you to price out the fan and have all games now corprate seats, with this economy.. .that might bite them in the butt.Maybe you think it's good business but the Dannys other business interst are starting to turn(Six Flaggs)sour,I remember JKC and WM and how they did it for the fans like the Rooneys(sp) not for the almighty dollar and that is what made them successful and buy doing it that way .............rich to. |

he said all the right things and handled it very well, so that's good... but talk is cheap. we'll have to wait for the season to see how it plays out on the field. edit: I'm not saying i think he's going to shut it down, just that, at this point, it's a bad argument on both sides since there's nothing factual to judge him by... yet. |

Contract coming for Eli Manning?: A number of media outlets in New York reported recently that the Giants and QB Eli Manning are close to a new contract worth well over $100 million. However, the Newark Star-Ledger was the latest to report that a deal between both sides is not imminent. Manning is scheduled to be a free agent after the 2009 season. |

a couple of new houses paid in full (and in cash) each year, every year, until the end of time. |
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
I voted love it , worth money for the simple fact that the Redskin FO has seemed to have figured out the current salary cap structure. The salary cap doesn't seemed to big as big of factor as one would think.

Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
Redskin Insider:
Posted at 4:00 PM ET, 03/11/2009 Haynesworth to Start Work Monday Jason Reid reports: New Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth -- the NFL's highest-paid defensive player -- plans to participate in the team's offseason conditioning program beginning Monday at Redskins Park, his agent said today. Haynesworth, who lives year-round at his homes in Nashville and Knoxville, Tenn., is eager to begin the next chapter of his career, said his representative, Chad Speck. The Redskins lured Haynesworth from Tennessee with a seven-year, $100-million contract that could be worth as much as $115 million based on his performance. The package includes a NFL record $41 million in guaranteed money, and Haynesworth is assured of receiving $32 million in the first 13 months of the contract. It is important to owner Daniel Snyder and Vinny Cerrato, Washington's executive vice president of football operations, to have the team's high-profile players involved in the program at the complex to build "team chemistry," Cerrato said recently. The Redskins released Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Taylor because he balked at Snyder's request to have a workout clause added to his contract. Haynesworth and cornerback DeAngelo Hall, who re-signed with the team minutes before the free agent market opened, have workout clauses in their contracts, Cerrato said. |
