Or Darnold, though he does have a better potential upside. Too many questions around Darnold; is he just bad or has Gase broken him? Even if it is down to Gase, is the damage already done? If he was cheap and easily disposed of, I'd give him a shot. But that all depends on whether the Jets change their stance on him before the draft. His value drops by the day (people are now chasing Watson, maybe Carr and Wentz, so he's not getting a mention), and drops even more post draft when at least 5 QB's are expected to be gone by end of round 2. If the Jets are planning on shopping him they would probably have done it by now, owning the #2 pick. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Never got the Bridgewater hype. He's a bottom third of the league starter. I'd rather roll the dice on Darnold if I had to choose between the two. But he makes so many boneheaded decisions. I don't think Gase takes all the blame for his so-so play.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Trade up and get Trey Lance if he is still available around pick 10.
|
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Lance is a project. Not worthy of a 1st round pick IMO. But we all know w/ Qb's they get over drafted.

@LesBowen · 1h I've talked to an NFL source, not w/the Eagles, who hears a Wentz trade is close. That isn't first-hand information. I do feel that the longer we go without Wentz saying something like "I'm happy to be an Eagle and excited about playing for Nick Sirianni," the closer we get... While I don't think WFT are involved and it is just an unsourced tweet, it is interesting and affects the market |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Fields to me has the most upside to all the Qb's. If he gets the right coaching and goes somewhere stable he could be the best out of everyone. He just made so many ridiculously great throws, time after time. But then he had some moments where you feel like he is going to be another OSU bust. He certainly played better than Lawrence head to head.
Mac Jones is too tough to evaluate because he is slow and doesn't have a big arm, but is pin point accurate. Also the game is going away from slow drop back guys so to me not worthy of drafting round one. Lance I would not touch in the first round. Absolutely not. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Wentz huh? What do you think he goes for, a 3rd? A 4th?

He played like shit and deserved to get benched. He seems to have a little RG3 in him. Takes stupid sacks, holds the ball too long and missed easy open wr's. Eagles won it all w/ out him. Also he doesn't seem to have the full locker room behind him. |

Honestly, it is a lose-lose situation with Wentz for the Iggles, unless Wentz magically starts playing well again. |

My guess is the Eagles would have to sweeten the deal even more so than the Rams did for the Lions, with regard to taking on that contract - but we'll see... Most likely the Eagles are stuck with him, and they let it play out hoping that 2020 was an aberration. |

But the dead cap would still be quite significant, and given that they are cap hell and have a lot of aging players, they may be better off keeping Wentz. |

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Alex Smith needs to go.
Wentz and Watson aren’t getting traded If Carr is available, I would have a hard time giving a first for him. The same with Sam Darnold...but I may listen for outside first round picks for both. Collins and a 3rd...a second maybe? Nobody else really intrigues me...I wouldn’t sign Winston or Fitz in FA. We really should be focused if their are any QB we like in the first or second round. I wouldn’t move up for anyone in the first round tho, I don’t see anybody I’d like at that cost. Those are the real options for us...bring back both Allen and Henike which will not cost us much. Reality check folks |

His presence and ability at least sets a bar for any other qb to beat out. Is he a full year starter? probably not, is he a helluva good bridge qb? Definitely. Watson and Wentz are both likely to have serious trade offers, and both teams would be as foolish as the Skins were with Williams to not consider getting compensation now vs a year from now. I do agree I don't want to trade up for an unproven starter. If you trade the 19th pick it has to be for a qb you know will start day 1 (at which point AS can be gone). Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Kyle Allen and Heineken played better and are much better options than Alex on field. Alex not healthy enough to take the field...it’s pretty apparent at this point
It’s a massive waste of cap space |

I wouldn’t classify a trade offer as being “serious” unless you are talking about multiple 1st and if any team offers that for Wentz, much less even one 1st, they are more stupid than the Rams. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
If the Raiders want to move Carr, I could see us making a move for him. The rumor is WFT giving up 2 1st rd picks that Vegas uses to pursue Watson. I would consider giving up 1 1st rd pick for Carr not 2. Still think Watson stays in Houston and will cave once his pockets start getting affected.
Carr's stats are quite solid below. High completion percentage, consistently a 4,000 yd passer, and still will be only 30 starting the 2021 season. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CarrDe02.htm |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Does everyone realize how stupid Houston would be to move Watson. I’m sure the new GM will not allow it

I agree. Nick Caserio is well aware how important a good QB is after 2020 season. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Watson will get traded eventually and it’ll probably be to Miami. They have the picks and QB to do it. Houston can’t make Watson play, and he said he’s 100% done there.
If we give 2 first for Carr I’ll be pissed. He’s not even that much better than Kirk if he even is at all. I’d give up two 1s for Fields or Wilson and I hope that’s what happens at the end of the day. Keep Alex for one more year but reduce his salary if he is willing to do so and bring Fields in to learn under him. Rivera played Cam his whole rookie season so he’s not scared to do that I’m sure with Fields or Wilson even. If Dallas is stupid enough to let Dak walk then you go all in for him but I highly doubt that happens. We are really down to a few options guys and trading up seems to be the most realistic. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I have been thinking that if Wentz really wants to leave Philly then they will approach him to re-structure his deal to facilitate the trade, so the cap hit won't be as bad

No to Wentz. He’s injury prone and honestly I have bad vibes from the Mcnabb trade. I’m tired of other teams Washed QBs. Trade up for one of these guys this year and build around him. |

For the record I am not interested in Wentz either, but if Philly manages to to trade him it keeps the carousel moving and fills another spot.
Would you trade 19th pick and Payne to get into the top 5-7 picks |

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
This...especially with so many QB with questions this year. Lawrence seems very certain and unanimous top qb. I have serious doubts with every other QB talent. Fields, Wilson, Jones, Trask, etc. Sit at 19 and if you like a QB take him. I really think Carr and Watson aren’t going anywhere. Wentz...well what I read this morning is growing feeling Eagles will go and trade him...which is mind blowing when it comes to the cap hit. But no way would the Eagles trade him to the Skins. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
If Chicago is where Wentz goes, the irony is Foles may go back to Philly where he won a Super Bowl. Philly would literally be reversing a previous qb decision.
