Re: Dwayne Haskins
It's only a matter of time so I say just roll with him day 1
I respectfull disagree [emoji107]
Everything I have read so far says that the Redskins season will be bad, and that the best cases would be a 7-9 record. Personally I see no reason to throw Dwayne Haskins, your future, into a season that won't be successful. I say give Dwayne Haskins at least a year and then start him next year. Re: Dwayne Haskins
I don't understand the logic of sitting him because you think the season will be bad. Putting aside that it's impossible to tell at this juncture -- a lot can and will happen between now and September -- I think you start whoever gives you the best chance to win. If we're starting Flowers at LT and the line becomes a horrible patchwork, maybe I'd be worried about my investment. But teams that draft QBs high are always bad the season before (hence, the high draft pick). Those QBs sit to learn the system and/or because they're not ready for prime time.
If Haskins checks those boxes, fine to start him from my perspective. Whenever he hits the field, I am excited to see what he can do. I like what I have heard so far. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
From what we've been hearing Haskins has been real up and real down. These are controlled practices. Meanwhile NY is quietly gushing over Jones. Doesn't mean shit at this point but something to keep an eye on.

Re: Dwayne Haskins
Hope that he can get that chance to start. Good luck!

Jay said the other day that when he's "on" he's as good as he's seen, also our defense is better than the Gmen, that helps Jones too. |

Take players' performance news in off-season with grain of salt. |

No kidding, anybody can look good in helmets and shorts. Even in preseason games for that matter. On another football fan forum I used to go to guys would get all excited about rookies, often ones that were playing in the 3rd and 4th quarters of preseason games. Being elected by fans to the preseason Hall of Fame gets you nothing. The thing that stands out to me are running backs that rack up the yards and carries in preseason games. Even if they look good if they are used a lot they most certainly end up not making the roster. Thomas Clayton who was drafted by the 49ers in 2007 led the preseason in rushing in back to back years. He never played a down in a regular season game for them. He bounced around the league for a couple more years and racked up 15 regular season carries for a total of 29 yards. |

Pretty much, just something I thought I'd mention. |
Re: Dwayne Haskins
I think the competition between Haskins and Keenum should be really fun to watch. Im hoping Haskins doesn't make it a contest

And let's not forget, Jones' competition really sucks. Some of us on this forum might look good relative to Eli these days. |
There hasn't been a rookie QB in NFL history to play 16 games and lead his team to the Super Bowl.....hopefully Haskins can do it.
To do it with Paul Richardson and Josh Doctson as your starting wideouts would be the stuff of legends too. |

LOL, yeah well look at the last half of the season when Eric Flowers was gone and judge from that .;) |

How that guy kept finding NFL jobs, sometimes brief stints is beyond me. He must have been signed and cut two dozen times. |
