Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Well of you fully read the news article posted on the left column of the main page here you will see at the end of the article by ESPN it says the Skins are still going to try to land Peyton Manning also.
Imagine we get RGIII and PM and a couple decent WR's and an OL. Woohoo. |
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Did we really trade 3 first rounders for number 2 pick? I love rg3 but that's steep. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do for your franchise qb
|
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Peyton Manning and the Redskins were never meant to be. Robert Griffin III and the Redskins are meant to be. So, let P. Manning sign with Denver or Miami or whoever he chooses in the AFC. We have our quarterback. The only thing remaining to do is select him on draft day.

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
I would hate to think that Peyton Manning didn't want to come to the Redskins because he thought the team wasn't good enough. Facing Eli Manning twice a year would have made for some interesting football and headlines. If that was the reason why he didn't want to come, then I respect his decision. But I didn't want Manning anyway because for one, he's not a young quarterback anymore, and two, signing him to a contract would have been too much of a risk. I'm glad we did the right thing by trading up and getting RG3/

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Once they realized that Peyton wasn't interested they could not take a chance and lose out on RG3. I said this on page 15 or so, we had to come out of this offseason with a franchise QB regardless of cost. Yes we got raped, but I do not care, draft picks are draft picks some work out some don't. I think RG3 is the real deal and I can not wait to see him on the field for the Washington Redskins. Shanny will have plenty of cap room and will need to use the free agent path to fill some roster needs like we did in the past. I know the draft nuts will explode once they see this deal, don't argue with them its a waste of time.
Could trading Orakpo get us back in the first round this year??? RG3 Redskin! Now go get him some o-lineman and some burner WR's. |
From what I'm reading it's owned a gossip media conglomerate and some people online ("read random people on twitter and various forums") say it's credible.
On the other hand it's a tabloid site and the trade this early makes little to no sense, even as a selling point to free agents.
It makes a lot of sense if the Browns were making a push to get a trade done now and steal it away from us. IF someone else is pushing hard for it now, so do we. Reports were Browns made an offer but we had already made an agreement and the Rams didn't renege on our handshake deal. |
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
I hope he's pissed. So pissed he pulls a draft day Eli. Which somehow benefits us, either by acquiring him or RG3.
Unless he chooses us, we cannot afford to have Andrew Luck empower an NFC team like say, San Francisco. ;) |

Time to lock qb threads (for good)?

I would assume it is. Why are will still discussing Peyton Manning? He's not coming to Washington and we already are in position to draft our franchise QB of the future. |
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
No need to lock this thread. Peyton Manning is still a free agent, and arguably the biggest FA ever.
Besides...once he signs with Denver, GMScud would like to discuss bringing Tebow here |

Tebow sucks anyways.

If he was that good, Elway wouldn't be courting Manning or avoiding a long term commitment with him (Tebow). Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G. |

Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G.
He needs a good defense to keep it close but also Manning would replace any QB just about.. I'm JS Tim is a winner and always has been, his performance against Pitt was amazing this year.. Would I take him? Yes over Rex and Beck any day.. Oh but we don't have to worry about QB anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!! HTTR |

Oh but we don't have to worry about QB anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!! HTTR
Tebow almost got beat by a hobbled up Roethslisberger. I will admit that he caught the league by surprise. But Elway knows that if you can't consistently be a good passer in the NFL, you are not going to win many games. Let's not forget that it seems that Denver may have been interested in RG3 as well. |
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Tebow did surprise people, including me. But he also got really, really lucky.
He'd have a longer and better career if he just converted to H-back. |
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
wildcat specialist and holder, he is not a very good qb
|
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
So Manning's meeting with Arizona is complete. And so far he's been chauffeured by an NFL owner (Polian) and an NFL head coach (Whisenhunt).

Bud Adams said today he wants Manning and will pay what it takes

The Titans owner? That's very interesting and ties into another fairly substantial rumor I'd heard |
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Not the best passer is an understatement, 46% completions. That sucks.

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Apparently the Seahawks and the Chiefs out of the Manning sweepstakes according to the Denver Post.

I would imagine he wouldn't be thrilled with going back to 2nd string or being a wildcat/option specialist. |
