Re: Annointing a new Face of the Franchise

CP is still the MVP...everyone knows him and that by definition makes him the face of ther Redskins. Oh and it helps that he is pernialy among the league leaders in rushing. Love Cooley but people don't know him like they know CP...not yet anyways.

Yeah, we don't really have one. But if I had to choose, it would definitely be Clinton Portis. He's the most popular guy on our team.

This is a no brainer Todd Yoder.

I think Albert Haynesworth will be the face of the team only because of his contract.

This is the type of question that you'd need to ask someone who doesn't follow the Skins. Most of us here read about them all the time, we might follow Cooley's blog, or we read another article about how Campbell is dealing with the past offseason, or hear on the DC Sports Bog all of the new nicknames that Smoot is using, or whatever so we might be skewed one way or the other.

Nationally, I think our FotF is still Portis. The costume thing was a few years ago but people still remember that. He's made the Pro Bowl for us a couple of times and he's still a big fantasy football name, so more people probably see him and associate him with the team. I think that these are the same reasons that Cooley may be poised to take of the title sooner or later.

Re: Annointing a new Face of the Franchise

Bored at work so I thought I'd give the face of the franchise for all 32 teams (IMO):

Lions- Calvin Johnson
Packers- Aaron Rogers
Bears- Brian urlacher
Vikings- Adrian Peterson

Falcons- Matt Ryan
Panthers- Steve Smith
Bucs- ...I really don't know off the top of my head...
Saints- Drew Brees

Seahawks- Matt Hasselback
Rams- Steven Jackson
Cards- Fitzgerald
49ers- Frank Gore

Giants- Eli Manning
Cowgirls- Tony Homo
Eagles- Donovan McNabb
Skins- Clinton Portis

Colts- Peyton Manning
Titans- Bullocks
Texans- Andre Johnson
Jags- not so sure..

Steelers- Roethlisberger
Browns- Jamal Lewis
Bengals- Ochocinco
Ravens- Ray Lewis

PAts- Tom Brady
Fins- Jason Taylor
Jets- Sanchez
Bills- T.O.

Chiefs- Larry Johnson
Broncos- Brandon Marshall
Raiders- Asonmonga (i know the spelling is all wrong)
Chargers- L.T

Please, share your thoughts.

Good point.

And I don't know of any player other than Cooley who's engaged in a rap battle

Does anyone suspect that the offensive line problems weren't addressed just so Snyder could get rid of Zorn? Maybe I'm just paranoid.

No,it's because the O-line is the new face of the franchise.

Benjamin Franklin?

We all know it's CP. Just listen to the games. Can CP lead the team to victory, Clinton Portis and the Washington Redskins, etc, etc, etc . . . .

It's Portis and/or Cooley for now, but hopefully Campbell will asume the mantle. That said Sean Taylor is still my favorite player of the Skins post-Gibbs 1.0 era.

I can see Orakpo eventually becoming the face of the franchise if he puts together a few 10-15 sack seasons early in his career.

for a boring, and hopefully last, what if question. Suppose we had taken Oher, and let Orakpo slide. How many would be happy? I think I would have been happy, but having seen Orakpo at TC and listening to the spin, I am surely excited that we have Orakpo.
