Re: Gotta love Riggo: Tells Vinny to go do radio fulltime
the problem is the depth behind the starters is pure garbage. when a starter goes down the drop off is too big to over come. let's face it. we all knew samuels and thomas... given their history were not going to be able to play a full season. so you bring in a guy who hasn't played in two years that is 400 lbs?? wtf???? plus if rinehart could play he'd be in there. he can't pass block. bridges, e.williams and montgomery? below average journey men at best. and heyer can't play at this level...gaines admas showed us that. maybe we could've picked up a linemen w/ that 2nd rounder that went to miami for j.taylor.
And now with Chris Samuels out we've gone and....re-signed Glenn Pakulak to the practice squad! I mean OMG, WTF, YGTBFKM, SPIFTL...seriously Cerrato and Mo Brown? Seriously? C'mon you can do better than that...can't you? Meanwhile, Schefter says Langston Walker should be signing with the Raiders today |

Actually he looks pretty health to me. Looks like he has been working out. Check out some of the other vids, looks pretty cut to me. |
Re: Gotta love Riggo: Tells Vinny to go do radio fulltime
But if I'm the Redskins (and I'm not) I would counter with well we drafted Rinehart in the 3rd round in 2008 with the expectation he would develop into our RG starting in 2009 given the opportunity, we went younger at LG with a proven starter in Derrick Dockery, we signed two other veteran starters in Mike Williams and Jeremy Bridges (who can play both G/T), we've made a commitment to youth on our interior with Edwin Williams and Will Montgomery. So it's not like we ignored the offensive line. We have targeted offensive linemen as often (if not more often) these past 10 years than our predecessors did the 10 years before.
In the prior 10 years, we spent high draft choices on Samuels, Jansen, and a few years before that, Cory Raymer and Tre Johnson. Yes, during this 10 year stretch, we got Randy Thomas and Casey Rabach as FA's in their prime, but other than drafting Dockery in the 3rd round, I can't think of another successful O-lineman that we've drafted since Samuels. The one year that Marty ran our draft, I thought that he made a fatal mistake when he passed on Steve Hutchinson and selected Rod Gardner. Samuels, Hutchinson, and Jansen would have been the 2nd coming of The Hogs.

I was thinking more along the lines of 1999-2009 drafts Jon Jansen (1st) Chris Samuels (1st) Derrick Dockery (3rd) Chad Rinehart (3rd) Michael Moore (4th) Mark Wilson (5th) Derek Smith (5th) Jim Molinaro (6th) Reggie Coleman (6th) Kili Lefotu (7th) And I'll add Stephon Heyer and Edwin Williams because they may have been drafted in the 8-12 rounds of yesteryear. Plus trading for Pete Kendall and signing Rabach and Randy Thomas 1988-1998 (and I realize it's not exactly 10 years) Drafts Andre Johnson (1st) Tre Johnson (2nd) Corey Raymer (2nd) Joe Patton (3rd) Moe Elewonibi (3rd) Paul Sevier (3rd) Greg Huntington (5th) Mark Fischer (5th) Brad Badger (5th) Brian Thure (6th) Darryl Moore (8th) Henry Brown (10th) Mark Schlereth (10th) Matt Elliott (12th) And the great trade for Jim Lachey. So in each time frame, 10 draft picks in the first 7 rounds. Of course, that doesn't justify the selections or the trades made that prevented us from even having the opportunity to draft more linemen. Just a quirkly little fact I suppose The early 80s were probably worse. Beathard had some brutal picks and rarely went OL, but when he did he of course hit it big. |
Re: Gotta love Riggo: Tells Vinny to go do radio fulltime
The more I listen to Riggo the more I wish he would get serious consideration for GM. I think he would be smart enough to put the right people in place and let them do their jobs. He also wouldn't hesitate to tell Danny where to stick it... which is exactly why he wouldn't get the job.
I think Wilbon said it best when he said the Skins need a GM that can make Snyder feel like he is still involved without actually using his input. |

Somebody else said that too didn't they. Was it Jimmy Johnson? I should read that Wilbon article, I'll get around to it |

Re: Gotta love Riggo: Tells Vinny to go do radio fulltime
Riggins is right about VC. However, he has some crazy opinions and doesn't always make sense in his opinions. I couldn't really take large doses of him when he had his radio show. Small doses ok, large doses not so much.

That's 5 pretty worthless posts from you now, but at least this one didn't say 4-12. Step up your game son. This isn't ExtremeSkins. |

I should read that Wilbon article, I'll get around to it
Maybe it was Wilbon quoting JJ on that. Could JJ be the guy to do it? Wasn't there a few faint rumors of him a few years ago coming in? |

I thought Sonny's comments about Collins are interesting. More so, I think it's interesting because Snyder is obviously very tight with Sonny and it would seem that if Sonny is saying Collins should be the starter then would Snyder be thinking the same thing? As for the note on Billick, my gut still tells me he's a real possibility |
