Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
I would put it more like the team just flushed all that money into the toilet. Because it was the team's decision to get him at such a high prize, and now the team wants to get rid of him for stupid reasons.
I don't like AH one bit, but still I'd prefer we trade another player like say Andre Carter, and then just play AH at DE in the 3-4 looks. And everyone needs to realize that we won't be a full-time 3-4 this year. In fact, if I had to guess, I think 4-3 will still be our base, with occasional 3-4 look thrown in. We just don't have the personnel and draft picks to become a base 3-4 right away. It's got to be a gradual transition. |

There must be much more to this story for Shanahan to even think of giving Albert away. The man is already paid, sounds like he is good as a 3-4 End, make up already. I am a little concerned that Shan may lose some of the confidence of his players. Everyone knows how good he is, these workouts are voluntary, I mean come on.
Even the best make mistakes. Hopefully whatever happens, this won't be one of them. |
Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
Schefter is close with Shanahan, so typically I'd say you can trust what he's reporting on the Skins. But AH is a huge name. Now that Albert has been paid his bonus, he becomes much more valuable in a trade b/c our potential trading partner won't have to cover that $20M+. Add that to the fact that Shanahan says he will NOT be traded, and you're further upping the asking price.
Everyone knows Schefter is the best media source for all things Shanny. Pure speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if Shanny said, "hey Adam, float this one for me and I'll make sure you're the first in the media to get juice on the team." Either way, Albert has flat out robbed the Redskins. If he gets traded, he'll have been paid $32M for 12 games. That's $2.67M per game. LOL. What a shitshow Cerrato and Co were.
J.Taylor and all of Miami clowned us the year before. Now this could really hurt even more if he was to go back to TN. I honestly feel AH really wants to go down as, The Badest M-Fer to play the game and his pride wont let him have the word "BUST" attached to his name. He is an ALPHA DOG. I so agree with you on the unbolded statement. |
I pulled this info from another site but i can't find the link tho interesting comments nonetheless.
I talked to Jim Haslett and he plans on using me like they did with the Titans. He?s talked to a couple of Titans coaches and former Titans coaches and that?s what he said he?s planning on doing. Just kind of letting me loose and letting me play the game.? Of course, with new coordinators come new changes in how the game is played and Haslett is no different. The type of defense Haslett employs is a 3-4 defense, a defense Haynesworth is not familiar with at all, yet he is open to it looks forward to playing it. ?At first I was a little iffy to it because I?ve never played in the 3-4. I don?t have a clue to how it?s really played. But then I talked to him a little bit and he plans on just playing me in the middle a little bit and at end. I guess I?ll just move around and just wreak havoc; so as long as we?re doing that and I?m not just at one position, I?m fine, I?m fine with it.?
That came from this interview: Beyond the Athlete: Albert Haynesworth Part*II - Beyond The Athlete - Back Sports Page Sounds like they want to run Haynesworth out of town, which is stupid. Sure you want team unity but Haynesworth already had this on the books before any of the Skins plans were underway, the guy was getting ready before anyone even knew what the offseason plan was. He was still going to show up to the voluntary minicamp but I'm guessing that something around the park made him change his mind, he said it was to avoid distraction due to the media access, but who knows. Chasing him out because he isn't being your whipping boy is stupid. A 2nd rounder isn't good enough for a guy like Haynesworth. People bitching about Haynesworth jerking off are silly since he's been working out for awhile now. It's like a comp security firm being mad that you chose to do an internship with the DoD instead of them and holding that against you when it comes time to get a job. Dude's gonna play all out this year whether it's with us or not. Looking at his stats on PFF he was number 4 last year, if penalties weren't part of the total ranking he'd be number 2, this is of all NTs and DTs. |
I need to hear this from Shefter and Glazer first.
La Confora (how ever you spell it) is trying to create buzz on a hunch.
Then why are sources telling him about us looking at Green as a possible replacement? I tell you what if the Lions do go for AH and still draft Suh we are going to be in a world of hurt in Sept when they play again in Ford Field. I have seen the Skins play the Lions the past 3 games up here in Detroit, and we have only the 2008 win to our credit, and we almost blew that one!!! I hope it is all some sort of hype job, but I don't think it looks good if AH cuts all the voluntary stuff out. Any serious player would want to get a head start learning a new scheme and just hainging out with teammates, learning plays ,etc. Yeah, you can say it is still voluntary, but it is a new scheme, etc. If I was a player I would want a head start boning up on it. |

He felt ashamed of last year because people were saying he wasn't earning his money, he said he'd be doing specialty work in the offseason to make sure that people couldn't say that. He wasn't even as vocal as he could've been about how he was misused and mislead on the team's intentions with him last year. |

Damn, if I were Favre, I might consider retiring!!!!! AH won't go down a s a bust, but he figures a switch to a 3-4 is going to hurt his chances of being that Alpha Dog sack master. |

Yeah I was there last year and in the pisser when Moss scored.. horrible game for me |
Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
Wow, this is a tough one...at this point they have to trade him seeing as though the bridges are burned beyond repair. I really don't like the fact that they are forcing the 3-4 even though our personnel is so clearly better suited to the 4-3...its a little early to doubt the Shanahan/Allen combo but....

hahaha we do have to remember that JLC has been late/wrong/very speculative with us lately, hopefully this is one more not much new here other than knowing the reported asking price |

I so agree with you on the unbolded statement.
The problem with the Taylor move was that it cost us draft picks - including a valuable second - without improving the team. Taylor's return to the Dolphins really isn't even worth mentioning as it relates the Skins. At that point (preseason 09) we'd already forfeited the draft picks and the only question was whether or not Jason was going to make the team better that year, which he probably wasn't. It will go down as an infamously terrible move because we walked away from the transaction one year later poorer than we would have otherwise been, having lost picks without gaining anything in return. If Haynesworth is traded for a second round pick or whatever, we will have gained draft picks, as Synder will have essentially bought whatever pick we get for 28 million dollars or however much we've paid Al to date. Maybe you don't like this if you are Snyder's financial adviser, but as a fan I don't see how you can be anything other than happy that we are gaining a high draft choice we wouldn't have otherwise had. |

That's a different argument, whether or not we should keep AH. I tend to think we should. However, I was responding to a post comparing his signing to the Jason Taylor trade; my point is that there is no scenario in which we will not be better off as a team for having signed Haynesworth, front office profligacy notwithstanding, since we will at the very least be producing a new draft pick out of thin air (and 28 million one dollar bills). |
Re: Haynesworth trade possibly in the works
hmm what about Albert Haynesworth to the Titans for Jason Jones and their 3rd rounder
I wish I could see AH play at least a game or two in this new defense, but now it seems like it isn't going to happen.. |
