Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
One game at a time like Smooty said, and don't get your hopes up. 8 teams currently have a better record than us:(TB, GB, ATL, Chi, NO,Philly, NY, and the NFC West champ)
TB: Young, exciting team that is playing with a "let's show them" type attitude. Can fall down the stretch if Freeman and Blount get hurt, but their defense is solid also. This is a definite must win if we are a playoff team (You're right...a must win game) GB: Too powerful all around to fall from grace, unless they get decimated in the next month. (they are decimated....with injuries.) Not to mention their schedule is pretty tough. The Redskins have a great chance at catching Green Bay and we own the tiebreaker. ATL: Another loaded team that is relatively young. Killer schedule might hamper them, but if they prevail against the Pack I am all in with them getting the first round bye. (mark in the book...they will make the Playoffs as a division winner or wildcard. They are so-so on the road...Matt Ryan and the falcons don't lose at home.I think he's 18-1 or something crazy at home..and guess who they play at home this weekend against...Packers :food-smil Chi: Great D, decent O line and running game, but stuck with a bipolar passing attack, that can hinder the running game. Too bad we couldn't play them. (Great Defense with an inconsistent offense and QB.) 3-0 in division will probably get them the division as well, but if they fall...they could miss it outright because we DID play them Gus and we own the tiebreaker on them. Gmen: THis team is hurting in my opinion and we all know Eli is pretty erratic like Cutler. I can see us splitting the series with the Gmen and maybe sweeping them if we get Eli on two "off" days. (We better at least split the series with them..or we won't make the post season.) With the injuries they have and at the WR core...we might actually be able to sweep them. No more old Meadowlands where we always lost. Hopefully the new one, brings Redskins luck. Philly: Might get beat up a bit in Chicago, but other than that they will be a 11-12 victory team. And seeing what they did to us on MNF, we simply can't touch that!! (Has Zero Defense!) Here are the scores they've allowed from week 1-12 in consecutive weekly order...27,32,3,17,24,17,37,24,28,17. Besides their lonely game where they allowed just 3 pt's against Jacksonville....their BEST defensive performance on points allowed this season is 17 points in a 3-way tie. 2 of those 3 games of the 17 points....they won the game.Only against the Redskins, where they only allowed 17..did they lose. Maybe not this week, maybe not next...maybe not till the championship game...but eventually,a bad defense will cost ya! Look at Vick and how Awesome that offense is.....Now Flip it over....that's how bad their defense is. If any team on their schedule even plays decent on Defense or learns to slow Vick down...Eagles are in trouble! The Redskins have statistically, the #32 last ranked defense in the NFL. As bad as ours may look....I would rather have ours, when you look at points allowed on a consistent basis. NO: The defending champs aren't playing explosive ball as of late on offense, but they are winning regardless, and are still solid on both sides of the pigskin. NO or ATL will get a frist round bye. (Team is looking like the old team of last season now) Still the most dangerous team in th NFC imo...It would be nice if they don't have home field advantage this season as a division winner. They will be hard to beat. NFC West Champ: It is a shame that the division winners are locked into the playoffs, because the Skins could win a rematch against the Rams and could beat down the Seahawks most Sundays. (It is a shame)...hopefully they are discussing a 7th playoff team in the Collective Bargaining agreement. Pretty sad that there might be an 8-8 or even 7-9 playoff team from the NFC West and a couple of dbl digit win teams sitting at home.
We have a good chance so far... We just need to win and everything will fall in place. |
Now....Can this silly ass thread be put to bed?
It should be. This team is not playoff caliber. Finishing .500 would be a significant accomplishment considering the shortage of talent on the offensive side of the ball. That we have an active thread complaining that Keiland Williams wasn't featured more today is Exhibit A.

I don't know how anyone would think we would make or deserve the playoffs after losing against the Lions AND the Rams (red flags right there), getting bent over by the Eagles, losing heartbreakers to the Texans and the Colts.. There's too much wrong with this team to have ever thought of the playoffs. On a better note, we will end the season better than we did last year... Right? Right? |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
We weren't a playoff team at the beginning of the season guys. It's just a fact. We don't have the talent right now. Are things better? Yes but still a yr away

As long as I can see a Redskins super bowl win in my lifetime, it'll be another check off of my "I can die happy" list, they can be a shitty team forever if they'll just let me have ONE. Okay granted, there has been 2 wins in my lifetime, but I was 2 and 6.. I just need 1 more! |

Let's see what Bruce Allen can do with a five picks in the 2011 draft. |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
Many of us thought before the season that we might go 7-9 or 8-8. We're still on track for that.
|
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
I can't wait until this team eventually gets it together. Then a thread like this will actually be meaningful

I think it can be put to bed now. The Gmen came back to take the jaguars and the Bucs are doing a pretty good job against the Ravens. They only gave up a 40+ yard FG thus far in Baltimore. ATL won a thriller in the Dome, and Chicago and Philly are neck and neck in Chitown, while we lost to a 41 year old QB and a team that is already out of the equation. |

Think we can stop bumping this thread now. Unless your a Giants or Eagles fan. Time for the pad lock.

Okay granted, there has been 2 wins in my lifetime, but I was 2 and 6.. I just need 1 more!
Yeah same here. I wasn't born yet in '88 when they won their 2nd, and I was 3 after the '91 season when they won their 3rd. I've never seen the Skins advance beyond the divisional round of the playoffs yet. All I want is to see at least one championship winning team in my lifetime. And this thread can be shut down. Sorry Ace, I know the playoffs mean a lot to you, but at least this team is better than last year. We've already won 1 more game than last year and there's plenty of time left to win more. Maybe we'll be able to do playoffs next season if we continue to make this team better in the offseason. |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
Im with you. I was born in 84, so i never really remember a championship Redskins team. I hope i live to see a championship team in my lifetime. I will probably never live long enough to see the Redskins win another superbowl.

Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
Everything we needed to happen to help this team...happened.
With the exception of the Giants winning. (and that one was the least one to worry about, since we still play them twice still.) I truly don't know what to say... But I will say this...to get in...we have to win the Division. Too bad our remaining games aren't on the road. This team can't win at home... Pathetic |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
Well only scoring a measley 13pts again isn't going to scare anyone! LOL
This team has zero chance of making the playoffs this year. |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
I actually like are chances against the Giants at the *New* Meadowlands...
and they don't have a worse record than us, or a rookie quarterback, or an interim coach. Easy Money baby! :) |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
Yea...forget about winning a wildcard
But we could still win the division. We're 2 games back with 5 to go. We probably need to sweep the Giants and beat Dallas, giving us 3 more wins (or currently 8) This would give us a 5-1 division record. Meaning...we probably need 1 more win at least for a 9-7 overall record...being Jacksonville or Tampa.... Simply put? --------------------------------------------------------- If we win the rest of our division games (@Dallas and Giants X2) giving us a 5-1 division record Philly wins no more than 2 of their 3 remaining division games at best(Dallas X2 and @Giants) But still manages to have same record as Skins. (be it 10-6 or 9-7 and gives the eagles a 4-2 Division record at best) and Giants lose to redskins X2 (10-6) or possibly 1 more game(9-7),then the Redskins will win division. In other words...the only reason why we are still in it,is because of 2 reasons 1)We still manage to have a 2-1 division record with 3 more to go. (possibly 5-1) 2)And there are 5 games remaining and we are only back 2 of them Dallas still has Philly X2 and the Giants still have Philly once Forget about a wild card..it won't happen. If we get in,it's because we won the division. If we beat the Giants and Texans beat philly..we are 1 game back Don't give up now...it be a crime. |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
Oh..the irony in this situation..lol
The one thing that has haunted the Redskins for a decade (or since 1999) has been the ability to win the division. (or win division games) And here we are right now...that is the only way we can make the playoffs and we still have a chance to do that. |

lol you're not even 30 yet. Considering the Skins have appeared in 5 of the first 44 Super Bowls, chances are good you could see it again in your lifetime. |
Why would you be at least 70? Who's to say they don't go to one within the next 10 years?
Well if history repeats itself it wouldn't be that long. I'm 22 now. The Redskins went to their first Super Bowl in '72, which was 6 years after it was announced that was the name of the championship game, but they didn't win their first Super Bowl until '82, so using that timeframe from 6 years from now the Skins might make the Super Bowl in 2017 (I'll go 6 years from the date of this year's SB) but they won't win it until 2027, which by that time I'll be 38. That still is a lengthy drought though, I don't want to wait another 16 years. The Cowboys/Eagles/Giants could have multiple opportunities at more trophies by then. But then again, the 'Skins SB drought could last decades, or just a couple years. We just need to right the ship, I'd rather be a team that wins multiple SB's than win just 1 in the next couple decades. |

Hey, I've had some moments, 14-13 in '05, 35-7 in '05, Sean Taylor returning the Eagles fumble to seal the win and the playoffs for the Redskins in '05, 5 in a row or we don't go in '05, beating the Bucs in the playoffs in '05, beating the Cowboys miraculously in '06 on S.T's return of a blocked field goal, winning 4 in a row at the end '07 to make the playoffs again, and I s'pose that covers most of it. Success will come to those that are patient, and I'm just going to have to be patient until the 'Skins turn this ship around. |

This team goes 5-11. There isnt a single game coming up that we can win. We have no offense, no defense...this team is in shambles. I have to say it, but the "new and improved" redskins, are no better than last year.
