Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Winston can push the ball, but when he is pressured he can give it up.
Sheehan gave a good stat about Winston, the Saints are really limited his attempts. He’s not really throwing over a 30 times a game. Imagine that’s by design If the Saints are missing all pro like olineman Armstead and McCoy this week again…that’s an advantage we gotta exploit. |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
The only positive for this game is they are going to try to run the ball and screen a ton with Kamara and that is honestly a gift from the Gods.
WFT 28 NO 37 |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
When he had the Tampa receiving core to throw to he was OK, the saints don't have anywhere near that quality while Michael Thomas is still out. Limiting his pass attempts is about limiting the times he tries to push it too hard to receivers who aren't open
|
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
picked up taysom hill in a league where we can start 2 qbs... couple big runs and gadget plays we always struggle against
|
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
I'm not too worried about Taysom. He does have three TDs this year, but he's basically a threat in the red zone, and that's about it. Our red zone defense has been pretty solid. It might be the one thing that carried over from last year.

Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Saw a stat today that said Heineke is tied with Brad Johnson for the most TD passes after his first 4 games in team history (8) and Taylor didn't even play the whole game week 1.. He's been pretty damn impressive
|
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
BJ had 9 TD's in the first 4 games I believe. Either way nice job by TH.
|
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Yeah maybe it was 2nd but no doubt pretty damn impressive
|
Yeah, they have been a bright spot. Hopefully Schweitzer can hold it down while Scherff is out.
I think he will do a good job. I consider him to be a Super Sub. We've been getting good play from our OL; however, the blocking of our TE's and RB's has been poor. I noticed that the RB's gave a determined effort in pass pro against the Falcons but it seemed to me the TE's were "meh" once again. |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
I thought the RBs had been doing well in blitz pickups, though I have not been watching the film over so my impression from the game could be wrong. Thomas and RSJ have not been great blockers, time is now for the rookie to prove his worth in that department
|
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
JD does an outstanding job picking up the blitz. Gibby is ok.
Id really like to see both these guys together. |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Amazing what one win against one of the bottom feeders of the NFL does..lol. I was listening to Grant and Danny and they were talking about locking up TH to a long term deal.. lol smh. I had to turn them off after hearing that shit.
Atl probably has a worse d than we do. So far this team looks like they're just barely good enough to beat the worst teams in the NFL and can not compete w/ the best ones. Can you imagine how many points and yards the Cowboys are going to get? Green Bay? Tampa? KC? Pretty disappointing that we are this bad on defense. Teams look forward to 3rd and 10 plus. But TH is fun to watch even though he is limited. I just don't think he is the future by any means and the organization still needs to be on the lookout for a franchise QB. Just remember the Bills game. Remember how Allen played and then how TH played. . |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Yeah I'd hold off on a long term deal talk just yet LOL.. Is he much better than expected? Yes
|

Than some expected……. That being said im not locking him up to anything yet. Let’s see a full season first. |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
If TH plays at a high level all year why the hell wouldn't you lock him up? People can talk about limits all day, but if the dude proves he can play and stay healthy all year we'd be dumb to not move forward with him.

I honestly believe the defense will get better. Too me it all starts with situational football on 3rd downs. The run defense has gotten better…we got a big test this weekend. Saints are a running team. |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Heinicke is on a 2 year contract. Why the rush to extend him after 4 games and before next years draft?
|
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Given this team's long history of mishandling QB's under Snyder I'm guessing this won't end well.
|
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
I'm not sure how this Taylor Heinicke ride ends, but I'm not committing to him for more than they already have - not yet. He's definitely a "gamer" as has been said multiple times, but I just feel like he's going to be good for 1-2 interceptions a game against mediocre defenses. He only has 3 through 3 1/2 games thus far, but I think he's had a couple overturned due to penalty, and several dropped. His style of play in the early going is both exciting and somewhat perilous at the same time. I'm sure it has a lot to do with lack of experience and the fact that the defense can't stop anyone - so he feels like he has to make up the difference. I'm hoping for good things, progression, stability, but we'll see. No reason to be talking about a longer term deal yet though. Fitz may very well get the job back next month...

Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Sometimes I'd rather be lucky than good, and while he's thrown a few that COULD have been picked, don't ALL QBs?

I hate playing the what if game. Let's focus what has actually happened vs what could have. |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Amen.
Watching the game last night and both Stafford and Wilson had a couple dropped too. While I'm not ready to anoint #4, I'm getting close to saying he's worth a few more years on his deal. He's the best we've had since Cousins, which isn't saying much, but still, the offense MOVES when he's at QB. |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Yes it does. Cant be all luck.
|
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Like I said, I'm hoping for good things from Taylor, progression, stability, steady improvement, etc., but we'll see how it plays out. No reason to be talking about a longer term deal yet though.

Re: The Saints come Marching in..
One thing that you can't teach at the QB Position is GRIT, Taylor has that! He's tough as shit and is a GAMER. It's no fluke that he has 2 game winning drives already in just 4 weeks. I have called him a Tony Romo 2.0 , a guy that got overlooked due to size and lack of arm talent but man he's got heart. I really do hope he becomes our guy for a while but again we will wait and see.
|
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
He leaves it all out on the field, that's for sure. Need more players to do that.

I’m looking at completion percentage and yards per attempt…both those look pretty damn solid compared to rest of league. TD to int is another solid stat He is a mobile QB too. The off script play won the game for us last week. This is something you can’t teach |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
The jury is still out on Heinicke. He has lots of qualities you love but also lots of qualities that make many, including myself, want us to go after another QB in 2022.
But it's still early and he has limited starts so hopefully he can improve on his weaknesses. His arm is what it is, and won't change, but he can definitely improve on timing, reading defenses, etc. He is fun to watch, that's for sure. |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Looks like Curtis Samuel is practicing today. Hopefully this is a good sign that he'll play Sunday.

Great news…I’m watching to see if the Saints two olinemen practice today. They didn’t yesterday |

I'm thinking he might be limited all season in regards to practicing. Whatever it takes to get him in the game on Sundays. |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
It's not like he needs to learn the playbook, he can sit out all week and be just fine on Sundays.
|
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
You know with Brown and Sims down with injury, like to see Deandre Carter get some run out there. He had a huge catch in the fourth quarter last week. Get him in some space…like to see him get some WR screens.
We got some speed and guys who are great in space…get them involved |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Dax Milne going to get some run, too.
|
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
Too banged up this week... L Thomas, Bostic, Scherff, C Sims, D Brown all out / Gibson, Payne, Samuel, Holcomb all questionable.
I actually think the defense will play better overall this weekend, but they will not be able to overcome the struggles on the offensive side. There is no such thing as complementary football in DC. The Saints' defense will load the box to stop the run, and force WFT to beat them with a banged up receiving corps. Taylor's errant throws - and forcing the issue, will result in at least three turnovers. NO - 33 WFT - 17 |

I find it hard to believe they'll score 30 on us. |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
They will if we turn the ball over. Also, we're giving up an average of 30.5 points per game so far.
But I hope you're right. |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
The saints are also 32nd in the league in Pressures , which means TH should have clean pockets this week.
Washington is 28th so not much better... |
Re: The Saints come Marching in..
If we can score more points than them I like our chances.

Knowing our luck... The refs would find a way to give the winning team a Loss |
