Re: "Coach Joe is on the Warpath!"
Exactly! It has always been about balance, whether if the team is a run first or pass first team. That is how he won those three Super Bowls in the 80's, and a balanced offensive attack never goes out of style.
Balance. Blah blah blah. GB is undefeated and they have the last ranked running game. It's about scoring more points. |
Re: "Coach Joe is on the Warpath!"
Instead of getting pissy with a bunch of reporters, I'd rather hear that Gibbs is going medieval on the players in practice after an absolute meltdown of a 2nd half against NY. Gibbs 1.0 would have had them in full pads, with full contact practices all week after such a galling loss. I really don't sense that the players have a healthy fear of Gibbs since he returned.
Yeah, that's a good point. I wonder if he was as animated with his players at practice. I've often seen NFL Films at practices for other teams with a mic and a camera on the head coach at all times, capturing their reactions at player performances. I'm not sure Gibbs has ever allowed that. But the perception is that Gibbs this time around is a friendly 'Grampa' figure that doesn't get upset with anyone and let's the players do their own thing. I hope that's not the case. Because like it's been said over and over, at times, it just seems that there isn't a lot of heart in the players. No matter how much Gibbs says they "faught their guts out." He says that all the time, but it really doesn't show on the field. |
Re: "Coach Joe is on the Warpath!"
I don't see how you can say that. He's given up the offense to Saunders. I don't find that to be stubborn at all. I mean, I'm sure he's going to want the freedom to have his input with the way the offense is ran. After all, he is the head coach. I would expect this from any head coach who's been successful in this league.
Exactly. I've never understood why people seem appalled at the notion that Gibbs either overules Saunders, or tells him to run a certain play from time to time. As head coach, he has that right whether modern day Gibbs-haters like it or not. |

Well, they also have a legendary quarterback and have played the Eagles, the G-strings, Chargers and Vikings. Let's see what they do against some top quality competition. I agree though, no matter how it gets done, you have to score points. And that's the Redskins biggest problem right now. |
Re: "Coach Joe is on the Warpath!"
Yeah he gave up the playcalling but he is dictating to Sanders. This is not the way Sanders wants to run his offense.
Plus those two terrible play calls at the end of the Giants game were his.
Sanders? Ricky Sanders? :) Who says those last two play calls (I won't even get into a debate over the actual calls, again) were his? |

They also have Brett Favre as QB. You're comparing apples to oranges. |
Re: "Coach Joe is on the Warpath!"
Hell yea! The coach is fired up, and the team is gonna come out and make a BIG STATEMENT!
We are gonna stomp the LIONS ASS! Just remember its NOT 70%! Its BALANCED! DONT FORGET IT!
Put up or shutup, there it is! JOB WELL DONE, IN ALL AREAS! |
