Re: Where was the blocking today?
You're my new best friend :)
Now the next question is can we hang on to him?... I understand there was a little bit of bad blood between him and the FO over his refusal to renegotiate his contract. Any chance that the way the team stood by him with all he's been through this year with his dad etc. might have helped heal a few wounds? |
Re: Where was the blocking today?
Sorry but I think there's a good chance that Springs is gone after this year. His release fee would be under $5M and I think if we can swing it he'll be gone.

Well that's certainly a possibility. I hope he comes back because he's one of the best players we've had in years. BUt he needs to look out for himself and his father's situation first and foremost. And, from the Redskins perspective, it is a business. I sure would hate to lose him though. |
Well I'll throw out what I've been laughed at for (by a few here, I'm keeping a list :) ) the past three years here.
What about moving Shawn Springs to safety...a la Rod Woodson.
I think Springs might be good at FS as he's got a nose for the ball, has great cover skills, can play the run, and his speed is in decline. My only concern would be the added punishment that he would take at safety. |

That's a distinct possibility, but don't you think it might leave us vulnerable? Rogers might not be back to 100% until the end of next season, Landry is still young, that would force Leigh Torrence into the nickel spot (barring offseason acquisitions at CB), and although it's hard to root against Doughty I'm not sure he'll cut it. |
Re: Where was the blocking today?
We have all of our draft picks next year, right? I think what we need to do is to build the OL and DL. those two areas seem to be exactly what we have lacked as far as depth in Gibbs second tenure. We need young, fast blockers, not just big bodies in front of the QB.
