Re: Late Round Gems
I like Gerhart but with more pressing needs i doubt it happens.
There's only one requirement to be a Shannahan running back and thats vision. Everything else is secondary. If I remember right Terrell Davis ran a 4.6 or 4.7 in the 40. Thats why Peyton Hillis, who seems similar to Gerhart in more then just skin color was on track to be the next big find for Denver, unfortunately for him McDaniels came in and the Bronco's have since gradually shifted to a more conventional running game.
However back to the original point, if you look at Shannahan's choices at running back you'll be hard pressed to find a similar build or skillset among all the guys Shannahan chose to give the rock. Basically if you can find the hole you'll be successful in this offense.
Well, if that is true then I would like to throw out Damion Fletcher, running back from Southern Mississippi. He lacks great size or great speed but he does have terrific vision and instincts. |
Re: Late Round Gems
I really like to land ciron black LSU in the 4th round but he might not be thear

Ciron Black is to heavy and flat footed for this offense. The team is more then likely going to draft guys no heavier then 305 pounds. |
Re: Late Round Gems
As long as we get this guy we'll be fine:

Re: Late Round Gems
So I ask you, who are some late round guys that you know that we should check out? All positions
Another guy I would like to see us get is LaMarcus Coker. He has ran a 4.28 40 and excelled against top competition when he was at Tennesseee. After he left Tennessee he went to Hampton and has continued to shine. His issues are well documented but he has the talent to excell in special teams and has IMO- Chris Johnson/ Devin Hester type talent. Only comes around every few years. Between the 2 players I'd pick LaMarcus handsdown.
I agree about Coker, but once he runs 4.3 at the combine, pot smoker or not, his draft stock is going to climb and i don't think he'll remain a late round prospect. A QB to look for if we don't land one in before the 4th round: Jarrett Brown WVU Jarrett Brown, , NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com Jarrett Brown [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB72s88n1z8]YouTube - WVU ECU highlights 2009[/ame] |

What? Tebow a better prospect? Tebow will not last long if at all in the NFL. He was a system QB at Florida & the RB's didn't get the recognition they deserved. Without the Brandon James, Will Demps & Percy Harvin's playmaking speed and homerun ability Tebow was really not that good. It's not college football anymore all that running he was doing will cease at the next level. |

Wouldn't Sam Bradford fall into the category of a system QB? |

Yeah he would too but he & every other QB has more upside than Tebow IMO. |
Re: Late Round Gems
How did the skelton kids look in the shrine bowl? I didn't watch the whole game. And there is no way that the Skelton kid from fordham is better than Sam Bradford Or Clausen...Clausen is the best QB in this draft. I wouldn't have him ranked higher than Tebow either for that matter...this is just from what i've read on walterfootball.com

Re: Late Round Gems
People love to hate on Tebow...but he's a winner.
Can't you say the same thing abour bradford and clausen...oh bradford wouldn't be as good if he didn't have jermaine greshaim...or clausen wouldn't be so good without golden tate...it's just kind of a silly argument...there are playmakers all over the field at that level of college and of course in the PRO's. It's have a person to motivate that talent to be "talented" is what you need...and that's why I personallly feel Tebow has a chance. |

With his throwing motion at the next level he would get picked 65% of the time. That wasn't a problem in college it will be at the next level. Plus he was a winner in college so was Jamarcus Russell. Both have the same amount of national championship as a starter. |
