I didn't say I didn't love his attitude. But the whole team deserves props for its' attitude, it's so nice to see that the entire team has its' attitude in sync. After last season it feels so good to wake up and not see any member of our team lashing out in the media for being a malcontent.
AND Eli did win a Superbowl. I don't like the Giants, but I am just saying the guy ain't all bad.
He sucked up until a month before that Super Bowl and has been on a decline since.

156 TDs and 114 INTs with 60 fumbles in 7 years is not good. 58% career passer.

He gets elevated because of his last name and the big media market he plays in.

His stats are comparable to Boomer Esiason at this point. Both have a similar 57-58% completion rate and their TD:INT ratio is identical (I did the math). Both are locks for 15-20 INTs a year but Boomer never had 25 like Eli did last year, even on the Bengals, Jets or Cardinals.

No one would call Boomer a top QB. Good, yes...not great. Eli gets hyped like he's one of the top in the league.

Re: Victory Monday

I am no Eli lover by any stretch of the imagination. The run into the Superbowl was a good footnote to his career.

I also want to confirm I would never use great and Top QB to describe Eli. Just pointing that out is all.

Anyways, back to the thread topic. VICTORY MONKEY!

Great way to start the season, great attitude from the players even if MS was not going to give the guys a day off. Love hearing all this stuff. Rak will get his this year. The D is going to be better evry week. Who knows where we end up at the end of it all, but we do have hope and currently are in the lead of the NFC East, albeit week one. :)

That game winning drive and Super Bowl trophy carry a lot of weight. Im sure his last name has something to do with his persona as well. Im just saying bashing this guy is a waste of my time. Ive never been scared of a Giants team because of Eli and he doesnt just get under my skin like Romo and his hide and seek escapades. To me its like pickning a fight with a child, or bitching at a 90 year old man for forgetting something i mean you got to go out of your way looking for stuff. But he does always have the same look on his face, there it is thats it, i got him. But thats just my humble opinion.

Re: Victory Monday

Cooley or Davis I choose Both!

It’s a rare thing in this league to have two tight ends who have the talent to be perennial probowlers. On one corner you have Fred Davis, pretty much a tall widereciever who lacks the needed blocking skills, on the other corner you have Chris Cooley, fan favorite, tough SOB, and all around well-rounded tightend. What I have recently noticed from the Redskins fan base is a tug of war between whose better. You have the one side claiming the budding star Fred Davis, claiming they love his speed and his hands. The enemy of them are the Cooley fans, holding dear to our beloved #47 who still has the work ethic and the skill to make several more probowls. Well I have decided to be the Ghandi in this, ladies and gentlemen, I want peace, Why can’t we love both tight ends? Why can’t we give Rex “Unleash the Dragon” Grossman the matchup hell which is two strongly skilled tightends. No answer to that folks? Because I am right, With Fred Davis and Cooley combined the Redskins receive an advantage over other teams in this league, one of the few advantages we can actually lay claim to. We have two guys who honestly can have 80-100 yards and multiple touchdowns every game. Fred Davis proved that Sunday receiving 5 receptions for 105 yards. Chris Cooley showed his continued value with solid blocks and 2 catches for 21 yards. Both offer versatility and represent a very valuable chunk of the Redskins Shanny offense. Why should we lose that? Why have trade Cooley threads? Or trade Davis threads? I’m telling you right now, we would have to receive an empire in return for either player, not the 3rd round pick fans were clamoring for, that’s no empire, that’s a colony. Fred Davis is in a key season, his contract season. Davis has been on record many times claiming he wants to be a featured tight end, Davis is a featured tight end in our system with improved stats across the board ahead. The front office is in an easy situation to me, re-sign the guy, keep the best tight end tandem in the NFL in Washington. Heres to Cooley and Davis crossing up the Cardinals defense this week, and heres to them crossing up defenses for years to come. HTTR

As far as your point goe RedskinsRave. You are right on, take a look at New England for example. They have Hernandez and Gronkowski. Both very good, and both very useful in their own right. If we are running 2 and 3 TE sets why not have two very good ones and one newcomer?

Maybe but I have a question for you,how many starting QB's have the Skins had in Eli's 7 years? When he sucks ...he stinks but when he's good he's very good .Like the Super bowl run or not he did it , and he won it, and he was the MVP of it,alot of "good" QB's can't say it.....alot of great QB's can't say it.

You know what I think is funny? You said that not having OTA's/offseason hurt Eli and his WRs. Well, there have never been that many passing yards in a single week in NFL history. Didn't hurt anyone else. LOL.

I, too, think it's funny that pundits and Giants fans are still whining about missing Osi and Tuck, while completely dismissing how we shut down their downfield passing game and didn't let Jacobs get on a roll.

It's like they forget the other team is paid to play football, until they lose to the Redskins then it's this guy was hurt or that guy was hurt.

Nice Stat Scud...

Giantone... If you are here to talk about how bad we have been in the past.. well keep dwelling on that one. We are here for the present, not what happened the last seven years. To be quite honest there may be another QB starting next year. Who knows... you guys lost to a team that played better, a QB who out performed yours, a defense who dominated you in the second half, and and offense who has had the same starting QB for four games with no OTAs. We won you lost. You should drop it. Eli is who he is. We all know it. He caught lightening in a bottle back in 07. He is not terrible and he is not great.

Ok Giantone, put it this way: following your argument and given first week performances, we should conclude that the lockout hurt Eli more than it hurt the rookie Newton.

Good luck with that.

I will defend Eli a little bit. Quite a few of those INTs from last year came from tip balls from WRs. Even that INT Sunday was really at the hands of the missed block on the OL. Sucks that QBs have to take the fall for that, but thems the breaks.

TO be honest, in my earlier posts I was helping you defend Eli. I do not think he is that bad. I just don't consider him great. He is good, sure. He has a lot of things in place for him to succeed as well. Great D, an awesome Oline, good running game, and good WRs. You guys have always put competitive teams on the field. Your FO is great.

My real point was that the loss of the offseason really should not have effected the Giants as much as you seem to think it has. You guys besides the loss of Boss and an injured Steve Smith are bringing back the same team on offense.

Your biggest losses have come from injuries on the defensive side of the ball during preseason and training camp.

That is your current problem, not Eli or the offense. Give our D some credit, they played a hell of a game. Sometimes it is not how bad you are playing but how good the other unit they are going against is.

I have rewatched the game and we just straight out played you after the second quarter. There really is no doubt about that. Just give our team some credit as you are on a Skins board and be done with it.

Ely's not a bad QB. As G stated, sometimes he's great. Almost as good as Peyton....
And that is the problem, everybody measures him against Big Bro. He's a solid QB , but unlike Peyton, he has a touch of Romo in him as well.

Re: Victory Monday

I just watched the game on NFL Game Rewind (which sucks because you cant watch it during MNF or SNF)...anyways.
I was quite happy...however, our OT's got manhandled often. I am concerned because there is no way any QB can continue to take that sort of abuse...and keeping in mind they didn't have their studs...we may have an issue.

Ironically, it seemed the interior 3 seemed be be playing with some cohesion...and what the heck is up with Montgomery's shotgun snaps?...that dude needs some serious practice...they are either way to high or they are slow moving rainbows...both put Rex in jeopardy....I couldn't imagine how Beck would have dealt with that, Rex handled those poor snaps superbly.

Another thing....I do think they could have shifted the ground game a bit more to the power game with a lead FB, unfortunately Sellers was inactive, I do believe that is neccessary with the Giants.

I absolutely loved how many new players made key plays...all 3 Dline + backup Neild made key plays...Kerrigan of course.
Of course our Safetys were a bit week.. otogwe seemed missing...I loved Wilson at CB...I was expecting a drop off. Fred Davis killed it.
Hightower was a bit disappointing, but that was due to blocking, punting and kicking were solid.

The only disappointment and concern long term for me...Oline and Safety.....I also do have some Dline concerns against the power rushing teams with close scores...that could hurt us in 4th quarters if the other team is trying to run out the clock...but that concern still up in the air...I though Cofield was ok...but far from dominant particularly in the rushing game.

I did love the playcalling....a little disappointed in Armstrong on what would have been an amazing catch...but otherwise, I DO believe we have a WR corp!!
Gaffney is fine, Armstrong has high potential...Moss is as good as 5 years ago, our TE's are solid...(cooley looks hurt but should be fine)

Lets not get ahead of ourselves...we beat an NFC east team at home, we need to do that ALL the time to be 8-8. The team was hurt and may not have taken us seriously...that may not happen again. Our later schedule is very rough, we need to get early wins to get to 8-8...This is a good step in the right direction.

Prediction: Neild will be playing into the rotation every game as Cofield look winded.
And that is amazing considering I didn't even think the 7th rounder would have made the practice squad 3 weeks into training camp
HAIl Victory!!

Alls I got to say is I love it when he plays with emotion, because we wouldn't have scored the touchdown that sealed it in the 4th if it hadn't been for his unnecessary hit on Fred Davis. Keep making reckless and stupid plays Antrel Rolle, because you were a big contributor to our success Sunday!

Looking forward to the Dec. 13 rematch, I would love for nothing more than to prove this game wasn't a fluke.

Nice Crusty.

BTW How many new starters do we have on D and O? I believe we are right around 9, 4 on offense and 5 on defense. On O we have 2 new Oline guys in Montgomery and Chester, a new starting WR in Gaffney and a new RB in Hightower. On D we have Kerrigan, Wilson, OJ, Cofield, and Bowen. This isn't mentioning the role players who are new who rotate in and out of the game.

It is Cardinals week, so I believe Crusty is right it is time to move on.
