Per Keim Oline information- Rookie report: Undrafted free agent guard Kyle Kalis continues to work ahead of Arie Kouandjio with the second offensive line. Kalis has been more consistent, both in one-on-one and full-team work. Kalis hasn't been perfect, but he has shown good technique and vision – he did a nice job seeing and picking up a blitzing corner in full-team work Monday. Kalis has a long way to go to earn a roster spot, but he's at least opened eyes early in camp.
Bill Callahan knows what he is doing. I trust him more than any other coach or FO person at Redskins park. |

NFL Network isn't replaying our game until Saturday morning. Lame. Was planning to relax and watch Friday night.

well looks like he has a rap career to fall back on...
Not likely. You know how many black guys want to be rappers? A million of them at least. We have had more than a few work in our warehouse at work over the years. It takes more than knowing how to rhyme, etc to make it. One of our guys actually cut his own CD. I listened to a couple songs. It was OK, but you have to think there are probably a million more out there trying to do the same thing. On top of that the whole rap thing is going out of style. Too many rappers, and how different can they really be? It Is all techno, and no real talent to speak of. |

Very interesting...especially #1. kinda jaw dropping.
Looks like they were going by Scotts boards in both FA and Draft...good to see his influence was rubbing off on people within our personnel dept. |
Re: Training Camp 2017
Wanted to past this on about our 3rd string developmental QB Nate Sudfeld...Heard from camp he has been the worst player on the field most the time. He'd probably PS at best at this point...but he's be terrible.
|
Re: Training Camp 2017
From what I've heard Sudfeld is not a practice player and the coaches know this. They want to see what he does in the games and he's going to be mostly judged on that.
|
Re: Training Camp 2017
He was being professional. Never burn your bridges unless you hate those folks and would never come back no matter what. Nobody but those involved will ever know the real story behind his dismissal.

And he should for sure. Did we even bring in another QB to camp? |
Re: Training Camp 2017
3rd stringers typically don't get much work in practice, it's a tough spot for a young guy to be in when you need the reps.

Nate will get a chance but ultimately they need to sign Kirk
Yep, I wont be surprised to see him grab the starting position sooner than later.
Breeland is being a dick in a few different ways.
Did you hear Jay Gruden unenthusiastic comment about him in a press conf the other day? He was asked about "Bashaud's camp" and he was like "Breeland?" "yeah" "... uuuh, he's doing great... uuh having a good camp... you know" hesitating an awful lot... You could hear he was trying to say the right thing but was really disappointed about Bree, almost mad at him. Considering how consistently Gruden usually says all the right things about his players, to me that is saying a lot... |
Re: Training Camp 2017
Look at who's been drafted the last couple years? Two 3rd round corners plus this 7th rounder Holsey has been having a real good camp. And we still have Dunbar. Breeland really needs to have a strong year or his days here are numbered.

I think his days here are numbered regardless. They won't have money to pay him next year, and they just drafted Moreau and Fuller. They both should be expected to play a lot next year. They can let him go and use another pick on a rookie contract corner. |

Bree needs to ball out AND grow the F up this year.

agree. We have invested a lot of draft picks there, like someone previously said, so we are prepared to move on. Side note, Junior G out tonight due to OLB Junior Galette's injury is a HAMSTRING, not hand. Redskins not concerned it will be an issue, playing it safe injury. Precautionary move |

On a brighter note, D. Everett has shown flashes when in on D, I hope he takes advantage of this opportunity. Could've had a pick six last week, I believe. |
Re: Training Camp 2017
Cravens is on his way to being the Jordan Reed of the defense.

Re: Training Camp 2017
With such little work in pre season, some of these guys are an injury waiting to happen week one. I guess it's just the way the league is these days...

Re: Training Camp 2017
Cravens showed a lot potential on the field last year...plays well around the line and had a knack of being around the ball. I'm really hoping he can take another step this year.
Arrogance can be a strength depending how you use it...we probably have one of the most arrogant player in the league with Norman. He plays with a serious chip and gets in the head of his opponents...loves to compete and it raises his level of play. But if your arrogant like rg3 and refuse coaching then it can work against you. I just hope cravens can stay on the field. |

Well, if Sua can't stay healthy and misses say 6-7 games a season for the duration of his contract, do you resign him? The switch to SS was a good move, but this guy has either really crappy luck, or just isn't built to take the punishment. I think the problem might be he is a Pac 12 guy. That conference isn't known for heavy hitting in general. |

I am just as worried about Reed getting more concussions this season. If he does, I would recommend he just walk away. It is sad how you read about how these old school guys are getting Alzheimer's in a major way. |

He made the transition to LB last year (which IMHO was a mistake). This year he's moving back to his initial position. He's shown some great potential. I think he'll be great playing alongside Swearinger. To me a concussion, an upper arm bruise and a meniscus injury aren't serious enough to call him injury prone already. |

He hasn't even taken a snap in year two, I'm not going to even start speculating about his 2nd contract already. |

Taylor issue was never production. He was a solid contributor when healthy...I called it last year, if he stayed healthy...this guy can be an impact player. McGee might also not be more than just a guy. Big guy but that's about it. Hopefully Allen balling out, Taylor being a nice surprise, pressure from the edge by Anderson, Kerrigan, and Galette, solid play at ILB from Brown and Foster and an improved secondary make up for a not so massively improved DL group. |

Re: Training Camp 2017
what's the word on Terrell McClain? I haven't read much about him lately.
I'm surprised that Ziggy is listed ahead of him.
"The Redskins started in nickel defense Thursday night, using Matt Ioannidis and Jonathan Allen in the middle of their front. When they came out in their 3-4, Ziggy Hood, Phil Taylor and Stacy McGee were the linemen, going from left to nose to right." Significantly, one notable name missing from the main men was McClain. Princiotti detailed the surprising struggles experienced by the former Dallas Cowboys nose guard this offseason: "This was somewhat unsurprising given what has been visible during training camp, but Terrell McClain seems to be falling down the depth chart. He just hasn’t made an impact. On the play where cornerback Joshua Holsey got a nice pass breakup on a deep ball, McClain was one-on-one with his man for several seconds (enough time for the receiver to get far down field) but couldn’t win the battle. It’s not that McClain has made any egregious mistakes, but given the financial commitment the Redskins made him, it’s easy to assume they’d like to see him playing a substantial role. If younger, less coveted players who weren’t free agency acquisitions keep making more plays, though, McClain starts to look like an expensive rotational piece." McClain not making the grade is unexpected, at least in the mind of yours truly. After all, the 29-year-old was exceptional tussling with centers during his time in Dallas, helping the Cowboys rank No. 1 against the run last season. Critics would likely point to McClain's success in Dallas coming in a one-gap 4-3 front, rather than the 3-4 the Redskins run, a base scheme still incorporating two-gap principles. However, McClain does have experience anchoring a three-man front. He did so for the Houston Texans in 2012 and 2013, albeit in Wade Phillips' more attacking version of the system. Perhaps McClain needs more license to attack one gap on Tomsula and Manusky's watch. Either way, he is listed as a backup defensive end on the unofficial depth chart released by the team on Monday, per CSN MidAtlantic's JP Finlay. Washington Redskins Preseason Week 2 Matchup Preview | Bleacher Report ------------------------- It seems like no DT want to be the unheralded, eat up blockers NT and they all have visions of cleanly shooting the gap and sacking unsuspecting QBs. Very little on McClain out there. Honestly, just not getting injured is bonus imo. |
