I would love to see a mix of Heinicke and Smith. Put Smith in around the goal lines, mix in Heinicke from the 30 to 30's to push the safeties back, and open the running lanes.
Definitely agree. I think in our situation, with AS not healthy it's really unclear who gives us a winning edge, it'd be a great way to use every little upside we can use, and make it a little harder for Tampa's D to game plan ! |

If he leaves a gimpy Smith in too long Saturday night Ill expect an apology. Happy to be here. Forget about next year. Chase Young knock bradys dick in the dirt and RR for the love of God use Heineken again if need be! |

He has nothing to apologize for. It was a tumultuous year for everyone, and his team found a way to rise to the top of their division, and are the NFC East Champs. |

The way I look at it, it could be Alex's last game in his career.. He is clearly a shell of himself and gimping around all game. I don't expect them to win so I'm not even mad, I just hope the game is competitive |

Going back to Matty’s post, it doesn’t matter who starts this week from the standpoint of building for the future. Nothing truly bad can happen as a result of being in the playoffs. Lots of good can happen from the experience. A year like this one is like steel coming out of a tempering fire; we made it and the Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants didn’t. We’ll have a harder edge next year and will be competing with the big boys. I love it. |
Re: NFC East Champs
Logan Thomas may be the most underrated player in the league. I'm sold on him. He's for real.
He looked like Wes Unseld going up strong for the rebound on that TD yesterday. |

He's been great, actually the FA class was way better than expected. Darby has been the best DB on the team |

Yes, the whole group has done much better than I anticipated. Kudos to Kyle and Ron. |

Yeah and I still don't see why they were surprised... If I was the Eagles I'd tank too. 6th overall pick or 11th? Makes a big difference TBH |
Re: NFC East Champs
Also what are the odds that the same HC wins a division at 7-9 with 2 different teams?? That is like 1 in a million

In all fairness in his 15 starts as a Washington QB he's 11-4... He's earned this game |

Re: NFC East Champs
Great win... great regular season!!
What Pederson did was disgraceful but it's not our problem. We deserve the division as much as anyone else. I will enjoy this victory and the upcoming week of HYPE. All that being said, the Alex Smith era is over. He can't run obviously. He can't roll to either side. Read options are useless and he can't throw deep. His lack of mobility takes away 2/3 of the playbook. It's remarkable what Alex has pulled off this year. He overcame tons of adversity to come back and lead a last place team from worst to first. That drive at the end of the first half was epic and beyond clutch. The throw to Logan in the end zone was a thing of beauty. It's like Alex mustered every last ounce of football left in his body for that one crucial drive. The movie script is complete and ready for production. Time to ride off into the sunset. Start the kid. Throw in some college wrinkles to shake up the offense and let the D do their thing. |
In all fairness in his 15 starts as a Washington QB he's 11-4... He's earned this game
Yes but he is clearly not the same quarterback as he was for the vast majority of those starts. Also the team has earned this game and they deserve the best chance to win. We as fans have earned this game and we deserve the best chance to win. Unless he is close to 100 percent he should sit this one out. Heineken shits the bed then bring him in. |

Agreed. I'd start Smith and see how it goes. If the D can keep it close I'll take my chances with Smith in there. |
Re: NFC East Champs
you can’t start Heniken...
Alex has earned it and the team has rallied around him and he has inspired the team to give it their all. Absolutely no way you sit Alex. Culture folks. I do think if Alex gets behind and also struggles then it’s appropriate to bring in the Amsterdam Pilsner |
Re: NFC East Champs
I am irritated about all the talk of Philly tanking. Pederson had a plan for the game to get guys, including Sudfeld, experience and he stuck to it. Period. Hurts was 7/20 for 72 yards and 1 int through more than 3 quarters. He had a QBR of less than 45. Give me a break. Sure he ran for 2 scores, but Del Rio had Bostic spy him in the second half and they generated no points.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is very true. Crybaby Giants fans are giving zero credit to the WFT defense, JDR's halftime adjustments, and even the lousy weather. All they want to do is boo-hoo about how they wanted to be in the playoffs. They're pretending that Hurts was playing like Mahomes, when, in fact, he was having a miserable day as a QB. |

Funny seeing all the Giants players, past and present, all up in arms about what transpired last night. I don't see any of them up in arms about only winning six games though. They win seven and they are in...but they didn't so they get to watch the playoffs from their couch. |

Not a good look for the Eagles , , there is talk of taking their #1 pick as a punishment. You can't say your #1 priority is winning and then pull your QB to see if the #3 guy is any good in a regular season game. |
Re: NFC East Champs
I think Alex has to start if he thinks he can go and he's cleared. I am worried that he's going to get killed though. He cannot move out of the pocket, and when he tries he falls down.

Not true a few have said it. Actually my argument if they had just made a single play in three different games they would be 9-7 . No one is saying that the Giants didn't need to take care of their own business , what people are saying that now with gambling it cheapens the Washington's team win and gives a black eye to the NFL . Win Sat and it's forgotten. |

He was their only threat last night, and it was obvious. You are right, it was not a good look. Had they started Sudfeld, that would be one thing...but they benched the only guy that gave the team a chance to win. Not that they would have, but he was their chance. However, as has been discussed on this board already, and while it wasn't exactly the same scenario, the Steelers left their starting QB and their best defensive player back in Pittsburgh. If they had beaten the Browns, the Dolphins would have been in the playoffs instead of the Browns. I watched every single NFL show since last night and no one is talking about that. Unfortunately, in week 17, teams who are playing each other often have different priorities, and that is what it boiled down to. I see no way in hell the NFL takes a draft pick. The league doesn't get to tell the coaches and owners who plays and when. |

Culture folks. I do think if Alex gets behind and also struggles then it’s appropriate to bring in the Amsterdam Pilsner
Chico is that you? Sounding rational. You can't sit Alex Smith down when he's the QB that made it possible to get here. Heinecke is a guarantee to give up 3 sack fumbles to the Bucs. Alex will either ditch the ball or just take the sack, he won't fumble it. But more than anything Ron's mission is to build a winning culture so we can become a sustainable contending team. You can't do that by playing an undrafted rookie unless Alex Smith's leg falls off. |
