It's heartbreaking to think about the 25 years of our fan-lives gone under his ownership, and at the same time liberating and joyous to think that it may finally be ending.
I got into football in HS, so I was still a kid when I realized that Dan had to go. So to think that a childhood wish is now being potentially realized as an adult is pretty big deal emotionally. I think it is a big deal emotionally for all of us if and when it finally goes through. |

I'm still too jaded to really believe its going to be true, but there have been some good posts here that does make me a bit more optimistic. I'm going to get shitfaced out of my mind the day that sell officially goes through. |

It's amazing to think about our lives before and after Dan Snyder. Every fan of this team has stories like this, the dichotomy between life before him and life with him. For me the line of demarcation is essentially childhood vs adulthood. I'm 43, he bought the team when I was 19. Life before him included the first Super Bowl win, I still have photos of four year old me wearing a Riggins jersey and my dad throwing me up in the air in celebration after Riggo ran on 4th and 1. I had a huge grin, not because I realized what was happening in the football game, but because my dad and I were forming a memorable bond over football. That continued as 8 year old me saw a Super Bowl, with photos in an 80s style Redskins shirt, and then 11 year old me saw another. As a 12 year old, wore a Mark Rypien jersey to a baseball card show, had a card dealer leave his table to come show me something, it was a Mark Rypien card autographed. I said how much do you want for it? He said whatever you're willing to pay, I have a feeling you'll love it more than I do. I turned over all 28 dollars that I had on me. In high school and early college it wasn't the same as we weren't as successful under Norv, but the passion was there, and the frustration of not realizing potential under Norv was huge because of the passion. But then I hit adulthood and it feels like real life hits. College is ending, have to find a job, pay bills, Dan Snyder owns the team. Signs Jeff George, fires that coach at 7-6, fires the next, hires a college coach, brings back my childhood hero who does herculean things just to make the playoffs twice under Snyder. I get married, I have two daughters, I have moments with them but nothing close to when my dad threw me in the air in a Riggins jersey. They're 16 and 13 now. They don't care about the Commanders. He never gave them reason to. I won't get that back. Is it the greatest tragedy to have befallen someone? Nowhere close but it still makes me sad. But knowing that there's a chance it could be like it was when I was a kid means everything to me. |

He's been waiting for this I think. He was connected to the Broncos when they were for sale - only speculatively though. I have seen his name connected to the Seahawks too, but I think he's been waiting for this opportunity. I'd be fine with it. |

We were given redskin onesies and a sweatshirt at the baby shower. I have pictures of her sitting with me up until she was about 4-5 watching games wearing Skins stuff. One time my wife's best friend was visiting from Philly and I watched her son, who was a few months older than my daughter, and my daughter while they went to run a race and brunch. The Eagles were playing the Skins that day so I put her son in the Redskins sweatshirt and took pictures sending it to all of her family up in Philadelphia. It felt right and it felt like we were going to have this silly bond of watching a sports team but it was so tough to keep following them every weekend and now she could care less about football. My son likes football but like most kids his age follows players and not teams but we will watch some of the Ravens together but it is not the same just something we can do and I can teach him about the game. Perhaps he will look on those moments and feel like they were important but it isn't the same as when my daughter and I were gearing up together, by the time he was born I just didn't watch full games much anymore. |
Re: Dan Snyder Hires Bank Of America To Potentially Sell Washington Commanders
I was in the middle of my freshman year of college in 1991. Never would have thought at that time it was going to be all downhill from there. In the past few years I came to accept this franchise was ruined and would never find any real long term success under Snyder.
And with all the investigations and really troublesome shit we've learned as far as what a giant turd of a human Snyder is, I've almost come to despise what I once loved so much. A change in ownership would be so huge I can't even describe what a relief it would be. |

I can’t believe how far they have fallen since 91 and it is hard now to even root for them because of douche bag. This would be like a new lease on life. Well football anyway. [emoji120] |
Re: Dan Snyder Hires Bank Of America To Potentially Sell Washington Commanders
See a lot of chatter about people being hopeful the name will change again, maybe even back to Redskins. Neither of these things are happening. A franchise re-branding twice in a very short time? Don't see it happening. Just not good business. Going back to Redskins? 0.0 chance.

Yeah I don't get why people would think this would happen. The #1 thing the new owner would be doing is getting that stadium deal. I mean there could be some minor re-branding: LOL. #illseemyselfout Picture credit: https://twitter.com/EM_vidds/status/1588237846917308417 |

I was thinking about how so many hate the name, i kind of a not a fan But i was watching Penn ST versus Ohio State Man think back when they said the name of the football team is the Buckeyes. I think that is a shit name. |

If people haven’t listened to Sheehan’s interview with Mike Ozanian on his Thursday podcast it is well worth it. About the first 30 minutes. Always insightful when you have someone that understands sports and money. In the interview he said the rebrand has been viewed as widely successful including a 30% increase in sponsorship revenue from 2021. He pegged this as one potential reason for timing. Regardless how fans feel a business person will see the potential in that. |
Re: Dan Snyder Hires Bank Of America To Potentially Sell Washington Commanders
Snyder naming the team the Commanders was his last big, huge, fuck you to all the fans. Picks a name most people don't like, then bounces. I hate that fucker.

I don't see this connection between the name Commanders and it being a "Snyder thing." He was forced to change the name. And why would current owners care or force a new owner to change the name? Honestly, this whole name discussion is being brought up by people that are still (for some reason) complaining about the name. I'd rather a new owner get a new stadium deal, fix the business side of things, and get this franchise back on the right track instead of worrying about the team name. You know what fixes the name? Winning. |
Re: Dan Snyder Hires Bank Of America To Potentially Sell Washington Commanders
The name thing is a non issue for me. Do I like Commanders? Not really, but it's so far down on the list of things I'm concerned about.

I agree , I would rather have the team named the turds without Snyder as owner than redskins under Snyder … new owner , new stadium , start winning and the commanders will grow on you! |

Seat Geek is the main sponsor. My question to Seat Geek is who is buying tickets? Fed Ex Field ( I think) has the lowest attendance in the NFL. People are still not buying tickets. The rebrand may be good for the bringing in some funds but it hasn't filled the stadium. It hasn't made people buy tickets. It hasn't made the fanbase come out to the games. |

The Feds are now on his back. Imagine if he had to sell the team and then go to jail. Can you imagine Danny Boi being handcuffed and going to prison? Someone would claim him right when he walked through the door. He'd be washing dirty underwear his first day. He'd be an amazing prison bitch. |

Bezos or Jay Zee, want neither. Rather have Elon.

Re: Dan Snyder Hires Bank Of America To Potentially Sell Washington Commanders
Let's be honest here, we want Bezos.
He's been in politicians pockets for decades and knows how to play all these games. With Bezos, we might actually get the team back to DC. We don't need a holding company owning the team with a puppet answering to a board of directors. I work for a holding company and have to go through two weeks worth of approvals just to get a client a couple of hookers. It's all bullshit. New ownership would call for a rebranding of the "Burgundy and Gold". Day 1, they will have the top selling jerseys in the NFL. The name is bearable but those ugly ass white jerseys are fucking dog shit. |

Outside of having 1 great owner, having a key guy leading it, but with several partners, might not be a bad thing. Have some checks and balances. I don't have a Tesla and I'll never have Twitter, so I'm really indifferent to him in general, but I don't want Musk to be the owner. I don't want any owner that always needs the spotlight. I have similar concerns about Bezos, but I don't know if he actually seeks it or that Amazon dominates so much, it's forced on him. I'd take Allen and his group over those 2 myself. |

Turns out, at least for me, the colors mattered just as much as the name. I know lots of people don't like the new uniforms. But imo, they're close enough where I still at least a small connection to the Redskins. I think the main help is that I really like the helmets. |

Dan Snyder was supposedly a fan. I typically agree with you, but not on this one. I want a billionaire that wants to own a team because he/she wants to make money, win, and knows how to run a successful company. |
