Welp that explains it then... If they do sign him I'm going to be a negative nancy around here for a while |

LOL I know that. I'm just providing some perspective as to why he may be interested, or why he may like the kid. |
I'll be the odd-ball. Bring on Trubisky. He is a good fit for this offense. Similar to Mariota. We need 1 more QB and at 19, we're most likely not getting 1 there.
I'd rather have Mariota, Minshew, or Fitzmagic, but I wouldn't hate signing Trubisky. I'm guessing it wouldn't take much to sign him to compete with Heinicke and Allen. Is any other team in on him? Wouldn't cost any draft capital, and he's hands down better than Darnold. Statistically better in every way - not close. The NY media would have you think that NFL teams think Darnold is valuable, but at the same time they are clamoring for the Jets to get him the hell out of New York. LOL. |
The Athletic's Ben Standig is also saying Washington is a likely landing spot for Mitch due to being a Free agent..
Man if he is our QB1 we will suck ass on O once again
You say QB1 like it's a done deal. If we pick up anyone's scraps (this goes for Darnold too) I guarantee Ron is having a qb competition again this year (unless we give up a high price, which I'm also not a fan of). |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
WFT (if truly interested) is not the only team apparently.

This article pretty much sums up why we might be interested in him

Could be...but it's not far fetched that there are teams interested in him, including WFT. |

FWIW JP Finlay doesn’t think they will go FA QB route but he’s just guessing

WFT signed Fitzmagic!

I thought Fitzpatrick retired? 10m for 1 year, not sure i get the thought process. That's not starter money so now we have 3 guys in the lockerroom as solid 2s and i guess a rookie number 1?
Edit: i am good with Fitzpatrick though. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
They will draft a QB now, there is no way around that

Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Stop gap if we can’t trade for Wilson or trade up in the draft. If we get one of those guys we can cut Kyle Allen for peanuts and carry QB 1, Fitz and Heinicke. Or plan B is just roll with Fitz and the plan is to get their franchise guy next year via FA or the draft. Or plan C is they expecting Heinicke to win the starting job and Fitz is insurance if Heinicke gets hurt. Either way I don’t hate it. Someone who is clearly a 1 year commitment at a low cost point. Can’t hurt to hedge your bets. |

If they draft someone, Montez is gone for sure. And either Allen or Heinicke are gone too. I agree, I think we have to draft a QB now. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
This move was useless 10 mil for him good lord
They will draft a QB now, there is no way around that
I think you draft a 2nd 3rd or 4th round qb that your scouts are high on. I think the draft falls like this now:
1st LB that they hope controls the middle of the field 2nd CB or best Qb 3rd TE/OL/S I still assume we sign a WR in the next two days Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

10 million for a starting QB isn't too shabby. |

I would predict Heinicke to beat out Allen. So I think he stays, but a lot of his contract was incentive based. They just cut Sean Davis last year with at least as much guarantee money. |

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
ESPN is not the best source for info. But Washington has been lucky to have John Keim. I respect that guy. He is definitely one of, if not, the best beat reporters we have.
I'd love to buy him some beers and have him spill the beans about ESPN. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
FitzMagic is a one year bandaid. He will help us get a very good WR in FA.
Very good move. If Taylor Heinicke is good enough he could beat Fitz out. I don’t think the WFT will go for the top WR in FA. Galloway is just too much money for one player. But the biggest FA signing will be at WR. We will use the #19 draft pick for OT. We need talent, youth and longevity in the OL. I see us drafting at OT. and OG in the first four rounds. We’ll also draft for CB and LB. By getting a very good, but reasonable WR to balance McLaurin, then the team can get a good TE #2 FA to go with Thomas. We’ll also spend some decent money at LB and FS in FA. BETTER to get five good to very good FA players at WR, LB, FS, CB and TE than to blow it all on the most expensive WR in FA. Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Agreed. But it will be a tough choice if one of the better (best>?) QB's IS still available at #19. But this gives us the freedom to go for a lower pick like Mond and still reinforce the LB, OL and CB positions. If that QB pick washes out, we pick again next year.

Win- Win Win 2021 - HEINICKE is the real deal we saw play against the Bucs. Rivera uses some top draft picks (first and third round) for the OL. We pick up SAMUELS as our FA WR. We pick up some decent TE FA as our TE #2. So the OL now is improved, has real depth and we’re ready when Scherff moves on next season. Heinicke has FitzMagic as his mentor. The OL protects him far better than against the Bucs. With Mc Lauren and Samuels and both TE plus Cam Sims and Harmon, we have turned WR /TE from a negative to a huge PLUS!! Win 2022 - Heinicke is a flash in pan. Good backup QB though. Fitz gets us into the playoffs. Defense is great (top 3-5). Offense is improved but needs a premiere QB. We make a huge trade post 2021 season for the best QB in the draft of 2022. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I say we trade for Deshaun Watson. Three first round picks, or a number of first round picks equal to the number of his accusers who are telling the truth, whichever is greater. This is fair to all parties involved, as it gives him the presumption of innocence. Trade for Watson! Trade for Watson! Trade for Watson! Its a can't miss trade, bro. The guy is the bomb!!!
