Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
This is definetly redskins day!
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
We've been fortunate that we've recovered our own fumbles. Helps us kill them on time of possession, I think it's like 23 minutes to 6 right now
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
Randle El's return questionable today. Hamstring
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
back-up in case the waterboy gets hurt
WHAT? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
well theres no questioning the playcalling in the first half, its been excellent, now lets see if they keep up the agressiveness in the 2nd half
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
Hoculi better not screw us here.
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
They've run 19 passing plays and 19 running plays so far. Talk about balance
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
Fuck that
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
That's a touchy call.
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
BULL$H!T!!! What a crock
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
wateva!
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
I can't disagree with the call. I am not as familiar with all of the NFL rules, but his explanation made sense, even if I don't like the outcome.
BTW, Nice break-up by Landry. |
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
crap the HD just went out...they switched to regular
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
F - taking this to the half on 3 runs. I definately want to see us try to build off of the momentum.
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
it's hd on Sunday Ticket
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
Lloyd standing right behind Gibbs
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
I don't have that unfortunately...
|

its not that its just balanced, but the playcalls themselves, the direct snap to portis, the throw to ARE on 4th and 2,etc |
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
Lloyd: So, uh coach think I could get in there with Moss and ARE hurt?
Gibbs: No. |

True. Though I don't think any of us have really argued much this year about the first half, it's what will they do with a 14 point lead in the second half. I like the conservative unpredictability. So...you think we open the second half with an onsides kick? :) |
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
on that replay of the throw to ARE you can see him pull up at the end because of his hamstring, and it seems like hamstrings take forever to heal
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
Now, who can tell us why Detroit should not have used their timeouts there?
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
we have some difficulty recovering fumbles...
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
SUrprised the lions haven't gone to the run sooner. We are playing to stop the pass.
Well, thats cause their running game is downright awful.
This is what I've been preaching all week. A 14 point lead at half was not safe against Eli and Co because they had been moving the ball on us all half, just hadnt gotten any points. Detroit has been so futile in this game that I would argue that a 14 point lead is safe. I think the offense is going to pile on some more in the 4th quarter, but its obvious who the best team is in this game. Actually it was obvious before today, but in case you needed some visual evidence...that was it. |
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
We're going to need another bye week to get healthy.
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
Let's come out of the locker room aggresively, keep attacking the middle of the field and get at least 2 more TD. NO FG!!
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
Man we are just dominating, We've held detroit to under 80 yards in the half!
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
still overall an impressive first half for us on both sides of the ball... i didn't like our last O series though... i would have been happier going for the throat and trying to put up another 7 points
|
still overall an impressive first half for us on both sides of the ball... i didn't like our last O series though... i would have been happier going for the throat and trying to put up another 7 points
We would have if our three runs had netted a first down.
Anyway, thats the answer to why it was stupid for Detriot to burn their final two timeouts. Because 15 seconds left on the clock for your offense if you are succesful is a stupid thing to strive for when the cost of failure is a minute for the Redskins to throw for 40 yards with two timeouts. If they had 3 TO's it would have been different, but they couldn't stop the clock on third, so it ended up just being stupid. They are lucky it didn't cost them 3 more points. |
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
ok 'skins...don't go to sleep during the second half...
|
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
I DO NOT like the playcalling with 1:20 left before halftime.
We'd been moving the ball well, Campbell was on target, Detroit wasn't stopping us in the passing game, and Gibbs sits on it with plenty of time left. Outrageous. Do you think the Cowboys, Colts or Patriots would be comfortable with a 14 point lead with that much time still available? HELL NO. They'd be striking down the field trying to get another score. That's exactly the kind of complacency that separates the winners from the losers. |

with ARE out I would be pleasntly surprised to see them continue the agresive playcalling

First, we were keeping it on the ground to force Detroit to use up all of their timeouts...that's smart. Secondly, ARE went out of the game with the pulled groin. So, who are we going to be throwing it to? |
Re: Week 5: Lions at Redskins Game Thread
Who exactly are you going to send deep? 50 yr old Thrash or Reche Caldwell?

There are a lot of fine coaches who would have done the same thing. And, even if one were to say they were being conservative, you also have to say they weren't being so conservative in going for it on 4th down from the 37 yard line. |
