If requested by one of the parties and the amount in controversy is greater than the statutory limit, yes there is. |

Apparently no one listens to me, not suprising. |
Re: Big Ben off the hook again.
So i listened to last nights PTI on my way to work this morning and Tony said he thought it was noteworthy that in his presser, the DA kept referring to Big Ben's accuser as "the victim" (as opposed to the alleged victim). To me, that strongly implies that the DA beleives that Big Ben did actually commit a crime.

And the stories go on: Steelers now facing a six-figure fine for Ben Roethlisberger's behavior. Pittsburgh Steelers face fine for players' bad behavior, source says - ESPN |

Good. I wonder why Rothlisberger himself isnt being fined.

I would think that may be announced when his league punishment is. |

I think we've just seen the tip of the iceberg.
GBI documents contain evidence of another Roethlisberger allegation | ProFootballTalk.com I wonder if Ben was as much of a pig in college or whether he turned into one after getting rich and famous. if the former, it looks like the Steelers didnt do their homework on the guy. |
Re: Big Ben off the hook again.
I will say that I don't understand how the bodyguards are not charged with at least some sort of illegal detaining (can't think of the term) or kidnapping. The few statements that I saw would seemed to have supported that type charge even without dna or other evidence needed for a charge of rape. Also the two bodyguards were off duty cops, so let's jump on the "protecting their own" charge as well.

The Steelers have said that they will discipline Ben internally. I don't know what they can do other than make him pay all or part of the team fine. |

Re: Big Ben off the hook again.
If all of these allegations are true, she should be a witness for the state. She is always going to be girl in the bathroom for the rest of her life but why would she want to be the girl that let him go if he does something like this again.

B/c too much of the population are pieces of shit and would take a buyout to stay quiet...but I totally agree with you. And she would want to be the girl that let him go b/c she is a few million dollars richer... |
Re: Big Ben off the hook again.
All I know is he caused some of his bodyguards to lose their regular jobs. Then again, is that his fault or should they have protected him from his own stupidity?

Fuck em, they chose to do what they did. I'm sure that they've seen this more than once. |
Re: Big Ben off the hook again.
We should be hearing the suspension length from Goodell this week, possibly today.
My hope: 6 games My realistic prediction: 4 games |
Re: Big Ben off the hook again.
It will probably be 4 or 8. I won't be surprised if it's 8.

I think 8 would be fine. A little surprising but fine. I guess it all has to do with how much the critics of Goodell's fairness in punishment affects the Commish. |
Re: Big Ben off the hook again.
It would definitely set an example and send him a wake up call to boot him for 8 games. We'll see.
|
Re: Big Ben off the hook again.
I'm guessing 6 with the chance to return after 4 games (which is what the suspension ultimately will be)
They're saying now the suspension might not come until Wednesday. |
Re: Big Ben off the hook again.
i think 8 games would send a strong message. players rarely get suspended for 8 games. 4 wouldnt really send that much of a message as a number of players serve four game suspensions every year.
|
Re: Big Ben off the hook again.
8 Games would also give Campbell a better chance to go to Pittsburgh and show his stuff.
|
Re: Big Ben off the hook again.
I don't think they will suspend him more than 3 games. 2 doesn't seem strong enough to send a message, and 4 seems excessive for someone not even charged with a crime.
3 games is a good compromise of being tough yet fair, but not overly harsh. They also don't want to risk a challenge from the NFLPA or Big Ben's lawyers. Also Rooney is highly involved with Goodell in this, and he doesn't want his team out of contention for a playoff spot. Goodell and Rooney will work in concert for a strong, just punishment, but one that leaves Pittsburgh in good playoff position. I will be very curious to see how the new schedule shakes out. I would not be surprised if the Steelers have an easy start to their season. Conspiracy theory? Maybe, but Rooney Is the NFL more than anyone on the planet. |

They're saying now the suspension might not come until Wednesday.
Well Tuesday's news is the schedule...can't ruin something positive. Same with Thursday and the draft. If they don't get it out soon today, Wednesday is their only real option from a news perspective. |

While Pittsburg would probably be the most attractive option for Campbell, i dont think Pittsburg would be interested. Tolmlin loves Dennis Dixon and if he didnt quite trust him for some reason, there's always Leftwich, who played extremely well for them in a couple of games in 2008. |

Campbell is certainly better then Dennis Dixon (60.2 QB rating and 46.2 completion percentage in an offense that saw Ben throw for over 4,000 yards and a 100+ QB rating) and I have little doubt that at this point he's much better then Leftwich but I guess in the end all that matters is what the Pittsburgh front office thinks. |

Leftwich is with the Buccaneers. Batch is the #2 guy for the Steelers. |
