It's Ok, I wouldn't say damn impressive... Congrats to Tomlin and the Steelers. This seasons Playoffs where very exciting to watch. Looking forward to a great SB.
I agree but seems fishy that your " star " QB leaves the biggest game of his career because of a " possible knee injury "
Jimmy Johnson really called him out in the postgame, and rightfully so. Collins sucked, and always underthrew his receivers like Cutler did, before he was benched. I was impressed with Hanie though. Kid threw 2 INTs, but he threw some nice balls, and actually executed like a NFL QB.

Rex Ryan just said "people are going to want to criticize us, and they can go ahead, but they really have no right to."

WTF? Really? You just coached possibly the worst first half your Jets team has played in the last two years and it just so happened to be the AFC title game. How is it no one has a right to criticize that?

LOL!! He's the first coach in NFL history to ever accomplish that, but it's just ok? Hahaha. That's funny. There are players in the league older than Tomlin, and yet he's got a legitimate shot to be a 2x Super Bowl champion HC before his 40th birthday.

I'll repeat it- damn impressive.

Well, they've been to the conference championship the last two years, his first two as head coach. And I don't think the first half was bad coaching really

I would say it is. If the Steelers keep doing the right things under Rooney/Tomlin, Tomlin just might replace Darth Vader in Foxboro as the best HC in the NFL.

My point was you can certainly find room for criticism of the Jets for today's game. I don't think the first half was necessarily bad coaching either, but at the end of the day he's responsible for the performance of his football team on the field.

I don't think Rex Ryan is a bad coach at all. I can't stand the guy, but he's clearly a very good coach.

All I'm saying is for him to say no one has a right to criticize is kinda dumb.

You are right, he was pissed at the NFL players bitching Cutler out. The Chicago D showed up, Cutler didn't, and the third string QB was thrown in to try and rectify the situation. If I were Lovie, I would give the kid a serious look. Unlike Cutler, Haine, never quit.

Well, Cowher had him as a DC for a number of years and it took him a decade to get back to a second Super Bowl. And yet Cowher is one of the biggest names floated around for HC jobs in the league.

LeBeau is an all-time coaching great, but Tomlin deserves his due as well.

I guess you could say Cowher had Neill O'Donnell and Kordell Stewart, not Rothlisberger, that helps too.

I thought the worst play calling was the and goal play calling right before the safety...that really ended up being the difference in the game right there

What is it with Cutler? I'm interested to see if tests show any serious injury, because he is gonna get crucified like LT in the Conference Championship game a few years back if it turns out it was something minor or something completely made up to avoid the talk of benching your star qb in the Conference Championship game. I saw Cutler on the sidelines, and as someone who has seen many a player with many a knee injury on the sidelines, he didn't remind me of someone who would fall into that category at all. He looked more like he was in the "benched" category than the injured category.

Shitty play calling and wasted lots of time with running plays up the middle.

You are right GM. I thought Brian was bitching out Cutler, when he was bitching out the guys on Twitter like Maurice Jones Drew, etc that questioned Cutler's toughness, etc. Cutler did come off like a dork though, plus he played like crap.
Yes, the doctors word is final. Teams face the risk of fines and loss of draft picks if they play someone after a doctor rules them out. As I said before it's kind of ironic considering the owners insisting on 18 games but the safety issues are being taken seriously. Teams and players are not allowed to circumvent team doctors when it comes to injuries.
Really? Rivers could hardly walk and he played. And I know for a fact that the Doctors didn't clear him to play. I've seen players play with broken ribs, players like Ronnie Lott who amputated his finger so he could continue playing. Brett Farve playing with a fracture in his ankle etc. Lastly, NFL team doctors are a joke. These are the same Doctors who use to routinely clear players to play a week after suffering a concussion. That's why the NFL stepped in and required that a player has to get evaluated by an independent neurologist, because they know the team Doctors are often full of shit.

Interesting you bring that up...

When Tomlin was hired, he kept LeBeau on AND he allowed LeBeau to continue to run the 3-4 defense that LeBeau favors. However, Tomlin was on record as saying that he preferred a switch to the 4-3 but he was deferring to the expertise and the excellence that LeBeau had shown for decades in the NFL.

Tomlin demonstrated flexibility and a willingness to accept the possibility that someone else on the staff might know more than he does about some aspect of the NFL game.

Hmmm.....

Yes but also keep in mind that the 3-4 is becoming more and more effective against todays offenses. Championship weekend featured 3 teams that ran the 3-4 defense so it's not to surprising that the two teams that moved on to the Super Bowl are 3-4 teams.

It's a different age. With all the talk on player safety team doctors have to be a lot more picky about who they let back on the field. As I said before I know part of the emphasis on safety has been trying to convince players that they can make the game safer for an 18 week schedule but the net result is more restrictions on letting injured players back into games.

Also keep in mind that Cutler may have in fact torn his ACL and comparing it to Rivers situation is pointless. Especially considering the fact that even though Rivers ACL game was the stuff that legends are made of it was still ridiculously stupid. He put his entire career on the line not to mention that he may have ended up with a terrible limp for the remainder of his life.

On top of that few QB's got their ass kicked as much as Jay Cutler did this past year so suggesting that the guy isn't tough is questionable at best. At the very least Cutler was sacked more then any other player this year with 52 sacks, and the only reason I hesitate is because of the likelihood that Vick is a safe bet for most QB hits, despite missing 3 or 4 games.

Chicago's 4-3 did a good job keeping Green Bay's power offense at bay. It was the Bears (lack of) offense that lost that game.

People are speculating a torn ACL, but i think thats a lie. Cutler was walking without even a limp and i just think that he wimped out. He is supposed to get an MRI today, so we will see what happens.

Having had a torn MCL, and meniscus in my career, I can say that even though they were both minor surgeries, i definatley knew i was hurt when it happened, and for a few days until the surgery, i definatley was limping....

from what I understand, a torn ACL is a very big deal when it happens...
