re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
I think it would be extremely arrogant and stupid for any team to place the importance of their system over Peyton Manning.
And despite the perception of hubris amoungst our staff namely Mike and Kyle Shanahan; I can't even imagine that they would exult their system over Peyton Manning. |
Kurt Warner was just on NFL Network pointing out that it might take a coaching staff that allows Peyton to essentially run the offense to get him. I mean I guess it's possible we could sign him but based on what we've heard about the Shanahan's doesn't exactly sound like a match.
n/m....read it wrong. However, I'm sure Peyton is going to have a lot of lead way to run any offense regardless of who's it is. |
Not saying that. I am saying that the offense that he's been in since he came into the league 14yrs ago, is not and does not resemble a west coast offense, if you want the Manning that you are used to it won't be the same guy. With that said does anyone think that for the 2yrs he would be here the shanny's would alter everything? Also, the Texans ran a similar version of shanny's west coast but they went over the top because of Andre Johnson, there is no Andre Johnson in Washington.
Peyton Manning ain't got to run no stinkin' Shanny offense. Shanny will run Peyton's offense, just like any other team that signs him. |

Andre Johnson has missed a lot of games over the years and their Offense remains the same. There will be a WR suitable for Manning. Skins have better TEs and the Garcons and Waynes of the world are hardly one of a kind. Add a VJax, Colston or Blackmon to Davis, Cooley,Hankerson, Gaffney and Moss, and PM has plenty of weapons. Don't think he's coming here though. |
re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Does anyone really think the Shanahans would force their offense down PM's throat without any give and take? And does anyone really think PM isn't capable of running a different offense?

It would be major epiphany for them to alter the system that Mike won 2 trophies with. Lil shanny knows that after the first 15 plays he runs the offense every Sunday and will continue to do so until dad is fired or retires. |
re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
As much as I like Peyton and I know he put any team on his back, I'm just worried about the old guy factor, I still don't think he has more than 2 seasons left in him and that we may just be band-aiding an open wound. I hope some QB gems come out next year.
That said, if we sign him, SUPER BOWL CHAMPS. |

He could run any Offense. He'll have input on which plays they run just like most QBs do. I'm sure he ran something in high school that was different than what he ran in college that was different than what he ran in Indy. This whole system thing is overblown. |

You're obviously not familiar with my sarcasm. :D But the offense will be seriously upgraded. |

Big fan of Manning's always have been but I do not think this is the place for him. With the age and injury factor I think we stay away.
Denver could be the darkhorse. I think they got hella cap space too, a GM who wants another SB tomorrow and clearly doesnt have the patience with Tebow.
I know this might sound crazy, but if Im Baltimore Im on the phone with Manning's agent right now. You know what Ed Reed and Ray Ray are thinking, window is closing.
And a GM that won back to back Super Bowls in his late thirties. |
