Yeah, I always wondered why people get so mad at a backup for not performing like a all-pro. He's a backup for a reason...lol
Problem is...he hasn't been playing the backup role, he's been starting and may again this year. |

Re: I Want ----- To Shut Me Up In 2012
Yeah when I watched that team a couple years ago...I kept saying to myself D Hall obviously is the problem. Not Haynesworth, not our Running Back play, our entire D Line, and QB play...it was D Hall, the worst CB in the league. Look back to that season, sadly I think our CB was a strongest position in terms of play.
But dont watch the games, just go by the stats. Dont watch the games to see the defense on the field 60-70% of the time...eye test dont mean shit. Like Ive said before, what I see with my own eyes during the game will give you more clues than the stat sheet later.
What about when the length of time that the Redskins have been a horrific defense against the pass just happens to coincide with the time that DeAngelo Hall has been in the starting lineup. Reed Doughty, LaRon Landry, Carlos Rogers were all here back in 2007 and the first stretch of games in 2008 when the Redskins were pretty shutdown against the pass. And the new guys like Gomes, Wilson, even Philip Buchanon to an extent contributed positively and weren't there for the darkest days. So when you talk about players who were here for the worst sequence of pass defense in the recent history of the franchise, it overlaps primarily the careers of two players in our secondary: DeAngelo Hall, and Byron Westbrook. Luckily, we fixed the problem this offseason. We got rid of Westbrook and brought back Leigh Torrence, whose career here mostly overlapped the good defensive years. Super Bowl, here we come! |
Re: I Want ----- To Shut Me Up In 2012
It's gotta be D. Hall. If you get burned 3 plays in a row, and then you bat a ball down.....shut the F@ck up. Good job, but maybe you should have done that the first 3 times.

Interesting. That's a pretty good one |
Re: I Want ----- To Shut Me Up In 2012
RG3 should go a long way in solving that one ^

Re: I Want ----- To Shut Me Up In 2012
I hate to say it, but I hope Deangelo Hall doesn't shut me up. Don't get me wrong, if deangelo does great I'll be happy with that...but every other player that I want to "shut me up" I don't have any ill will towards. With Deangelo, its almost personal. Deangelo is the only redskin I am upset that is even on the roster. If he was playing for the vet min I probably wouldn't have a problem, but he is paid like an elite corner but sucks, has a shitty personality, and even in his day wasn't that good.
The guy I want to shut me up over everyone else is Haslett. I said two seasons ago that Haslett sucked and should be fired immediately. I never bought that switching to a 3-4 "takes time" to adjust, and people were just using that as false hope for the reason that we were 1.6 yards away from being the worst ranked defense in the league. No way we had the second least talented defense in the league...not even close. Yes we improved this past year, but I just feel that the best Haslett can do with our defense has a cap outside of the top 10, no matter how good our talent is. I want Haslett to shut me up and bring me a top 10 defense. |

So you'd prefer to see our secondary to do poorly just to satisfy your personal hatred towards a player? I just don't get this. |

I think Cooley has a lot to prove this year too.

Exactly. You don't know how much pain it would cause me to see DeAngelo Hall have success at his natural position, especially for my favorite team. |

I've never been Hall's fan, but still hope he rebounds markedly this season. Stranger things have happened in pro football. |

So because you wouldn't want to have a beer with him you would be upset with him if he's on the roster regardless of performance? I never understand why someone's salary matters to fans. The whole notion of 'Top 10' is kinda false anyways. We had a 'Top 10' defense in 2009 that couldn't create turnovers or keep points off the scoreboard. The defense was filled with aging, unproductive players but because we allowed fewer yards than other teams we were a 'Top 10 defense' but largely ineffective. Not to defend Haslett specifically because I think many of his schemes are flawed and put players in positions to fail but our defense and defensive personnel is much better than it was pre-Haslett. |

Ravens went from 4-3 to 3-4 and we're (still) elite. But I digress. The point is Haslett, regardless of what he's given to work with, will never give you an elite defense. |
