Good words by Kiper.

is there an a-/b+ option
I gave a C, why?
Okung was a far safer bet, heck Berry is more talented. With the 4th pick you don't pick for "potential"... but thats what the skins did. I do like that they picked an OT though....its just a shame we couldn't trade back to get him...no one else would have taken him this high
Many mocks had williams slipping no further than 6... if you like him better than Okung at 4, you take him. Skins obviously preferred Williams. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
I can understand an A, B or C, If you wanted Okung for known ability a C makes sense on the wait and see side. If you like Williams, but are nervous a B makes sense. A is obvious. But D or E???? This guy is a staple of our line for 10 years, maybe LT, maybe RT, but a staple none the less.

Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
We got one of the top tackles available. What else do people want? THE FO must have thought Williams would be a better fit with the blocking schemes, etc.
|
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
Alright you guys need to settle down. Williams will fit better with our scheme than Okung would have.
Great pick by the Skins! |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
If the SEC is so great then how come the draft now has 5 of the first 6 players from the Big XII?
Also turns out that Okung is in the same boat as Iupati, a holder. |

It seems that there's definitely high risk/high reward from Williams. But I trust our coaches and like I said, I'm sure Samuels will be involved in this kid's upbringing as a pro player. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
i'm just so happy that it isn't Clausen
|
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
It's not what we drafted, it's who we drafted. He the equivalent of Pacman Jones playing OT. When the money hits his hands, or when he gets hurt, or when he's not performing he'll act a straight fool.
is there an a-/b+ option
Thats how im feeling...A+ for the intelligence of drafting a Tackle...B+ for Williams...I think Okung is flat out the better Tackle between the 2, but excited none the least, Im just psyched I didnt hear Berry or Clausen. HTTR |

I ranked it a B, Im glad we went O-Line. |

I'm sure that's why Chris was sent up there. |

Diehard how do you know this? I'll admit that he doesn't seem like the most articulate person in the world and it's likely that his future isn't in broadcasting but I've seen nothing to indicate that he should be regarded as some run of the mill street thug.
Who won the Championship game?? OU lost to UF, Texas lost to Bama
Talk to me after we get a playoff and I'll concede the championship game. Plus if Bama didn't go all Tonya Harding on Colt McCoy it could have very well been a much different game, lol. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
Silverback doesn't have any emotional baggage or felonies or anything like that does he?
|
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
He may be our right tackle this year. I think we have some tricks left up our sleeve this offseason.
Heyer was the LEFT tackle in minicamp. The line coach said they were very happy with him. So Trent may indeed be the left tackle next to Mike Williams. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
i'm pretty sure the skins spent so much time looking at tape that they made the right decision. I think this guy is gonna come out next year and show us whats up!!! SILVERBACK!!!!
|
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
I wanted Okung but we addressed the o-line with someone with a ton of upside. I think Okung would have been the better pick so I gave it a B.

i just find it funny you complain about money hitting hands, getting hurt (or pretending), and acting a fool with a Haynesworth avatar. |
Silverback doesn't have any emotional baggage or felonies or anything like that does he?
His name is GORILLA!!! Sorry it just roles off the tongue better though I obviously know that Gorilla won't catch on I will continue to refer to Williams in that way. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
Our offense is going to be so much better this year. Light years better.
We chose a player that was needed for that position. I have no reason to believe Williams will not be a fine player when you consider his versatility. I doubt McNabb will complain. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
I wanted OT & i'm happy we went that way but i will go on record and say i thought we would pick Berry. With the right coaching this pick could be the best of the draft. Right now this pick is A for need but a B overall has the potential to become an A+.

Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
Uh-oh. Hate to see my beloved Gators go to the Browns. I'd be crying, too.

Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
First Gator off the board, and a DC native too. Love me some Joe Haden.
|

i really hope when i wake up ah and jc will be somewhere in the afc and we will have 3 more draft picks

I'm not fond of guys who are a better physical specimen but are possibly football knuckleheads. C grade.

Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
Wouldn't it have been funny if all of you knew I was prophet and I came to you back in January telling you that the Redskins first draft pick would be from OU. How many of you would have freaked out?
First Gator off the board, and a DC native too. Love me some Joe Haden.
That ticks me off. All these DC natives that are top recruits in all high school sports and the only guys that stay in state are the LAX players. |

Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
what is "silverback"?
Is that Trent Williams' nickname or something? |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
way to go joe thats way early imo but a really good kid
|
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
They had Okung in here up close and personal and chose Williams.
I am fully behind the pick because I agree with EVERY change in the offseason to date. In the Mastermind I trust. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
Let's face it, this Front Office has made numerous questionable decisions already.
This is another one. Yes, I will root for Williams, Parker, Johnson, and trading away the 2nd round pick. But, they have made their bed with questionable and objectionable moves. I can see all these moves back firing, I hope I am wrong. I am getting flashbacks of Gibbs-2, Brunell, losing Pierce, and getting Archuletta. Trading up for Campbell also turned out to be a mistake. |

I just find it hard to believe that just now you make such strong comments against Williams, when there have been a lot of discussions here lately about the team getting him. |
Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1
I rank it an A for the following reasons:
- Great upside - Very Athletic - It's about F'ing time we go our future LT!!!! |
