Re: Week 1 - Post-game Thread
We have so many idiots in our fanbase that some still think RG3 got a raw deal.
Unless there is a major change within the Texans, I doubt they will trade him. They have this crazy price for him, even though they know no one is going to pay for it given the risk this investigation is posing.
Now, if the Packers were to budge and trade Rodgers, I'd take him in a heartbeat.
AR will never come here so that is totally out. W/ Watson I feel as time goes on the Texans will budge simply because they can get some value for him and everyone will want to have closure. You can't have him showing up everyday, day after day and basically not play him. The awkwardness will wear thin on everyone. |
Re: Week 1 - Post-game Thread
the only reason RG3 was still in the league is cause the Ravens have a college offense and run their QB. He should send Jacksons a gift for extending his career a few more years.

Seems to me like... *drumroll* Bostic follows the TE in the flat way too much and leaves his zone (the central third of the field) wide open. Also, McCain backpedals too much IMO. He may be in position to make the tackle short of the sticks if he stops at the sticks... No pressure sure doesn't help either. Nice capture French - I agree with you, I think this one is on Bostic as he left the middle ground wide open.

That is on Del Rio for (1) having Bostic and Holcomb in there on a guaranteed passing play. We have a bunch of hybrid safety guys for this very play. (2) asking your piss poor in coverage LB to make a correct read and then be able to cover a huge area of turf against the likes of Keenan Allen. That D call is mind blowing. On top of everyone playing way to far back from the sticks. Horrible play call, horrible execution by all. |
Re: Week 1 - Post-game Thread
It’s def on Bostic…yup nice call out there guys. He needs to drop and clog that passing lane
|
Re: Week 1 - Post-game Thread
Really thought with an offseason of actual practices and camps JDR would have had this unit much improved. They seemed to be picking right up from where they left off against TB.
|
Re: Week 1 - Post-game Thread
^^^^^
The ole Bostic special. Literally running around doing nothing and covering no one. The FO and Rivera failed this team at LB in the offseason. No way Bostic should even be on the field in that situation. And also the safety dropping back to beyond the marker to make a nice easy hole for Allen. That's just piss-poor all around. Embarrassing. |

Safeties (McCain and Collins) were waaay too deep, and Bostic didn't help matters as he seemed out of position. That was far too easy of a completion. By the way, I listened to the post game show, of course from Sunday, yesterday. Fred Smoot basically stated what I was saying in the game thread during the game. He said we was beaten by the pen, meaning the chalkboard and x's and o's, versus just being physically out whipped. And, I agree. Smoot thought JDR should have sent more blitzes between the A and B gaps to help nullify the Chargers and Herbert's quick passing, as many of the Chargers' plays were to negate our pass rush and take advantage of matchups and their playmakers. Once again, things I stated in the game thread as it was obvious what they were doing IMO. They schemed us well for the most part, and Smoot, in so many terms, wasn't happy with JDR's game plan. Sunday's loss was more on coaching than anything else, and I think a handful of others on this forum practically said as much. Lastly, Kam Curl only played 37 snaps whereas Landon Collins played 65. I hope that was a case where Curl may have been cramping as some players (ie, Fuller, Young, Sweat, and a couple others) tapped out a few plays due to early season conditioning or not being conditioned. With that being said, Curl needs more snaps. |

Gibson made me a believer Sunday. Fumble was tough and a runner is getting hit so they dont have too much say so .. but maybe try to keep your feet on the ground in the shadow of your own endzone. Stay low. Keep your limbs tucked in as much as possible. Maybe even do that double arm cross thing Portis used to do in those situations. Probably limits a runners agility but increases ball security. Sometimes he just stares at QB eyes and ends up being dragged way out of his zone without looking at the wide open guys in his zone... and sometimes he just stares at one guy and follows him with no awareness of where other guys could be... |

Holcomb is not a great covering LB, but Bostic just has zero clue what the F he's doing out there. Holcomb is good against the run and average in coverage, Bostic is average against the run and embarrassing in coverage. |

Omagad. I'm watching the All 22 of the chargers game. I'm still in the 1st quarter. That's now 2 punt returns in a row where Apke whiffs on blocks twice in the same play. I'll do a gif later (cuz maybe there's more to come), but I'm fuming. I don't want to hear one more word about him being this elite special teamer. f him. And f Rivera too on this one, cutting Moreland was a stupid mistake. Keeping Apke is a Jay Gruden like continuous mistake. And f those fake ass smart armchairs gm saying we don't understand how important special teams are and how good Apke is at it, I've had enough of those... HE SUCKS. PERIOD.

Re: Week 1 - Post-game Thread
While I enjoy your analysis French, you are missing the point a little bit wrt Apke and Moreland. Moreland was cut because he was beaten out by StJuste, McTyer and Roberts. The sixth CB, like the 7th LB and the 5th Safety is primarily a ST player. Jimmy wasn't a ST guy. Now I don't disagree with your assessment that Apke is not a great ST player, saw him at least once take a bad angle on coverage and totally over pursue the returner, a key reason why he was/is such a bad DB. And you are right that sometimes coaches seem to latch onto certain players, maybe it is the ST coach and Ron is just having his back, and that always looks odd to those outside the team. What is strange to me is that, Ron is, seemingly, using any excuse to get rid of guys bought into the the team by the previous regime unless they are real talents and/or team players, yet he is keeping Apke who has obvious flaws when on the field even to the most casual observer

I'm just ranting.
My main point is Apke is not worth a roster spot, period. We could've used his spot many other ways (including keeping Moreland, signing KJ Wright etc... Etc...). This narrative that he would be one of the best special teamers in the league just needs to stop. He is not. Maybe he is excellent in practice because of his speed, but good coaches see players who underperform in actual games... Envoyé de mon SHV48 en utilisant Tapatalk |
