Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
i guess peyton figured out the cards couldn't pay him AND have a good team... I imagine he'll look at the 49ers too if they can't work out a deal with smith. SF is really the place to be.

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
It'd be funny to see Manning wearing the black and silver.
I'm sure Buffalo and Minnesota are out of the question. |
Then you'll have to take my word for it when I say that the 49ers cut Patrick Willis and we signed him to a vet min contract.
No shit! Well that solves our middle linebacker situation for the next decade! Woohoo! The 49ers are crazy though. |
Manning will go to Denver And tebow to Jax

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Market size. Media and pro sports market.
If it were a bigger sports market, we'd still have the Charlotte Hornets. No one (nationally) cared about the Panthers until Cam Newton arrived. There's no way anyone can claim that DC isn't considered one of the busiest media towns in the nation, up there with NYC and LA. Charlotte is small potatoes. The QB of the Redskins is always a big headline-grabber, even with bad and mediocre QBs. Look how much attention McNabb drew from the national media when he came to town. It's going be that times infinity when RG3 suits up.
This is very weird sports media market. It's football and quarterback specific, as you've pointed out. For a team that has been a perennial loser over the past 15-20 years, we probably garner as much national attention as any team in the NFL. In part, because of the team's rich legacy and also due to Dan Snyder's splurging during free agency. |
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
By the way, think I got my info mixed up. He's meeting the Titans in Houston. Not the Texans

Probably the best thing for that franchise but Gene Smith (Jags GM) apparently hates the idea of Tebow being his QB more then Elway. |
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Wonder if PM would have come around to us eventually?!
Manning will go to Denver And tebow to Jax
i don't see how tim tebow solves any team's qb problem. his mechanics are slop and i doubt he's going to master the mental side of the position, having scored 22 on the wonderlic

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Manning not thrilled with Miami...
Chris Wesseling @ChrisWesseling NFLN's @JeffDarlington reported earlier Manning was "underwhelmed with the structure in place" with the Dolphins. |
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
That shouldn't surprise anyone.

Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
I think the reason Manning doesn't want to go to miami is cause he doesn't want to hear Brandon Marshall shouting in his ear to throw him the ball every other play.

Who knows. Probably not. |
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Still can't believe it might be Denver
As for Miami, here's something I told the mods last week "Have heard Manning is using Miami and isn't serious about playing there" |
Re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)
Interesting, TBH besides the weather Denver truly does give him a good chance to win quickly and ride off into the Sunset with another ring.
