That’s what I’m talking about. Can’t go crazy throwing money at FA’s. Next year, Allen, Payne, Settle and Logan Thomas contracts are coming up.
I'm with you on neither spending crazy money nor trading away a lot of picks, but we have quite some cap so I wouldn't hate the idea of having sort of a security blanket vet a la Fitzpatrick/Taylor/Mariota.

Maybe it's because the wild card game was just a couple of days ago but I really want Heinicke to have a chance to compete for the starting job. Something he won't get if we bring in a Watson/Stafford...

Gotta remember, the salary cap is coming down...teams weren’t prepared for this, so it will limit those looking to spend also could force maybe a couple premature cuts to vets as well.

Our salary cap status is great and to be in this predicament may lead to some bargins in free agency we could take advantage of.
Sign me up. Im a marketing director/sales manager in real life so I'd gladly join the cause.

Draft players around this kid and fucking let him play. Ffs you'd think we'd love to jump at the chance to look a gift horse in the mouth around here. Give the kid a chance. Bringing in a Stafford eliminates a potentially amazing future that I have seen enough of to know as previous stated - he has "it".. sadly we haven't seen "it" in so damn long (exclude rg3 he wasn't a real qb) that we won't settle for the.chance that we have something great and we need to.water this.seed to let it.fuckkng flourish.

Draft BPA/Need Need/BPA the whole fuckin draft and let the kid play.. we'd have won more than half the games Haskins started this year is Heineken was playing.
Director of Marketing it is! 👇🏻
Okay. I do not want to hear the “Heinicke is small and frail crap anymore”.

Taylor Heinicke 6’1” 210 lbs
Drew Brees —- 6’0” 208 lbs
Kyler Murray — 5’10” 207 lbs
Russell Wilson -5’11” 215 lbs

As the pronounced president of the Taylor Heinicke Fan Club, I will not tolerate such slanderous lies be made about our quarterback of the future. He sprained his AC joint flying like Superman during a circus stunt. That is not a normal play. The kid is a very smart “5 read” guy who has demonstrated terrific decision making and great accuracy, even with difficult down the field throws. He is extremely familiar with this offensive scheme. He is mobile and can extend plays when needed.

Now taking applications for members.
You know who was bigger than all of those guys? Robert Griffin III. When you run head-long into freight trains repeatedly, you get splattered.

Heinicke's size isn't ideal. But his size combined with his style of play is straight up unsustainable. Deal with it, fanboy.

Heineken ran when he had too. Which was too often because we have wr’s that cant get open and catch the fuckin ball. I dont think he would have to live so dangerously all the time if we had a run game, better oline, and more wr’s. RG -3 was a one trick pony and had no choice. Might prolong his shelf life. Just sayin.
Heineken for life.
All those guys SkinzWin mentioned are guys who have weapons, protection, run games. They run when they have to. RG -3 is a terrible example. He cannot fuckin throw.

Ouch. Fanboy. That cut deep. You can coach the kid up to be more selective on running and how to protect your body, ie when to slide like Russell Wilson. You know what you can’t coach? “IT”. Intelligence, decision making, and to some extent, accuracy. Heinicke has those intangibles. Something Haskins did not. It’s not like taking a risk on him is a financial burden to the franchise if he can’t stay health and stay in the league. But if he can through strategic coaching, look at his ceiling. It’s high. Deal with THAT, non-believer.

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke

Heinicke's size wouldn't be an issue if he had Brady and Russ' ability to stay healthy. But he doesn't. Every time he's played he's gotten injured.

Brady said it best, the best thing a qb can offer his team is availability. That is the indictment on Heinicke. You can't just ask a guy to turn off his willingness to play with reckless abandon.

I hate to say it but if we give up picks or players to someone else for their qb, Heinicke is slated to be a backup at best next year. Which I wouldn't mind because if he was the starter I'd make sure we had a solid backup behind him.

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke

If I can act as mediator here, I don't think anyone here is suggesting we let Heinicke walk.

I wholeheartedly say sign him up as he certainly looks like he has more upside than Allen. Like many though, I am concerned that he's not durable enough and that we've only seen a small sample size in the pro's. Thus I want him here to complete against whoever else comes here, and if he win's great; I just wouldn't hang the immediate future of the team on him without at least giving him adequate competition to prove himself against.

If anyone should realize that any quarterback can get hurt it should be us. They can sign or draft whoever they like. If Heineken out does em in practice he will be given the chance to start. If he gets hurt he gets hurt (Ivan Drago voice).
