Doesn't McCaffrey have to agree to that?
REPORT: Panthers are preparing to make a strong push for Deshaun Watson and "will do whatever it takes” to get him, including giving up three first-round draft picks and Christian McCaffrey
(H/T : @DNewtonespn )
Looks like this is more of a prediction by the reporter, as opposed to a report: https://twitter.com/DNewtonespn/status/1361769618482855943 |

Nope |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Based on what I've read on the Watson situation, whether he gets traded or not is going to depend both on the Texans AND Watson.
I doubt Watson is going to go the Jets or a McCaffrey-less Panthers team or New England or any rebuilding team. Watson will likely going to want to go to a team where he can compete right away. Outside of Miami, I don't think there are many teams that have the draft capital, cap space, and personnel to lure Watson. |

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I don't think Tua would be a deciding factor for Miami. Hell yeah they'd give up on him for Watson, that's not even a question.

The Texans are in rebuild mode, and getting 3 first rounders, would set them up for a nice rebuild for the next two years. No one expect them to be good this year, and they would likely have a high draft pick or be able to trade up in 2022. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
The Jets are so far away from being good , Watson wouldn’t save them right now so there is no point in giving up 3 1s if I’m the Jets

Honestly if I'm the Jets, I'm dealing Darnold to the highest bidder, keeping all my draft picks, and drafting Zach Wilson at #2. They could end up with the 2nd best QB in the draft in Wilson, and six more picks in the top 100: #s 23, 34, 66, 87, 98, and whatever they get for Darnold. |

I’m starting to think that the Texans are going to be their own worst enemy (yet again) and instead of striking while the iron was hot initially, they going to deny or slow play trading Watson and then after the draft when they realize that he’s serious and isn’t going to play ball with McNair and the Boys, will get only a fraction in future picks because the QB market will have been filled by rookie draftees in many cities. This whole 3 1st business isn’t going to take off. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Interesting that he said McCloughan basically underestimated Kirk's value. No wonder Kirk wanted out, from being second fiddle to RG3 to listening to ridiculous low ball offers from the team.
And like we all thought, should have traded him to SF when they had the chance. Probably could have got a nice package of picks for him.
Also makes me wonder who pulled the trigger on the Alex Smith trade, was that a Bruce Allen play? At the time I agreed why we gave up such a high price for a guy who was about to be replaced. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I still like the Alex trade. Fuller is solid, but not a game-changer. We needed to get a QB. And we were winning games until that devastating injury. Trades are always risky in any sport, but even moreso in the NFL, due to the frequency of injuries, let alone the most brutal ever.

That's true, I believe we were 6-3 when he got hurt.. Jay talked about it in his interview |

Yeah I liked the trade then, knowing that Kirk wasn't coming back. I haven't listened to the Jay G interview yet, but didn't Jay say that he thought that they might have been able to sign Alex (rather than trade for him), because KC probably would have released him? I'm wondering now, if RR and company really like Mariota, since his cap hit will be so much for a backup QB, if they don't just wait to see if LV releases him. I'm not sure what (if any) cap hit LV would incur if they just outright released him. |
