Yeah I liked the trade then, knowing that Kirk wasn't coming back.
I haven't listened to the Jay G interview yet, but didn't Jay say that he thought that they might have been able to sign Alex (rather than trade for him), because KC probably would have released him? I'm wondering now, if RR and company really like Mariota, since his cap hit will be so much for a backup QB, if they don't just wait to see if LV releases him. I'm not sure what (if any) cap hit LV would incur if they just outright released him.
I haven't listened either. That seems to the consensus on what he said about Alex. I don't think there are 32 QBs better than Mariota. That's a risky game if you want him on the team next year. That being said, I want to wait to see how the draft plays out before trading for anyone. I'd rather have a rookie than a veteran. |

There's no guarantee a QB they like will fall to #19, or that anyone will take an offer to trade up to get a QB they like. So I don't think they can wait until the draft plays out before addressing the QB situation. That's almost May... Free agency opens on March 17th. I would expect them to be actively pursuing a QB in free agency, if they haven't already traded for a Veteran. It will be hard to lure a top WR or TE here with Heinicke as the only QB on the roster. Even if Smith is still hanging around. |

That's just my personal preference. |

I'm not sure I have a preference at this point. Whatever they do won't satisfy everyone. It's tough with half the league looking to solidify their QB situation. It's a good year to be a free agent QB. |

100% true. Reason number 1 why front offices shouldn't give 2 shits about the fan's opinions, when it comes to player acquisition. There are give or take a million fans in this country for every team (and this is probably a conservative estimate). No matter what they do the majority will dislike it. Every offseason is interesting, but in terms of the QB position, it's definitely more interesting than most years. We're all guessing how it will turn out. |

For what it is worth....
JP Finlay Retweeted WASHINGTON FOOTBALL @HogsHaven · 4h “Let’s take Marcus Mariota... Washington was interested [in a trade], I don’t think they’re interested any more. New England was interested, I’m not sure they’re interested any more.” - @mlombardiNFL on @PatMcAfeeShow |

Perhaps, maybe they heard the Raiders asking price

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Is it just me or does there seem to be more focus on the QB position than more years? Maybe just my impression but overall QB play seemed improved this season (few teams seemed to have ended the season with a dire starting QB), and there's arguably a good crop in the draft, but it seems there's more noise around the league on QB movement this offseason.

It's the Mahomes effect, everyone sees KC has this new SB contender every yr and it's mainly due to #15. The urge to get a QB is now at an all time high |

Not sure I see that altogether. I can see how player power has pushed things a little (Stafford, Watson, Rodgers and Wilson stoking the fire), but the Chiefs seem the only team absolutely set at QB (at least up to the Stafford trade). There's either opinion that multiple teams don't have their ideal QB (i.e. Giants, 49ers, Raiders), there's a change of guard happening/likely (i.e. Falcons, Saints, Colts), there's instability through injury, performance etc. (i.e. Cowboys, Eagles, Dolphins) or there's a need for an upgrade (i.e. WFT, Broncos, Jets). Seems to me more of a coincidence of events almost league wide than any active approach by the majority of teams. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
QB's are always in high demand it's not anything new.

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
It's funny, for all the hype about QBs moving around this offseason only one has moved so far. That will change of course as we move closer to the draft but the hype about all these guys moving is just that, hype.
