Re: f...gibbs
If Portis was in the game he would have gotten stuffed. The whole side of the line got caved in. We should have been in shotgun and thrown the ball.
If Portis was in the game he would have broken the tackle on 3rd down. That was a joke. Betts didn't level his pads and break the tackle like 90% of the league would have and he fell sideways. There wasn't even an attempt to stretch the ball out. That was the worst short yardage run attempt I've ever seen. Portis certainly scores on 3rd if he's in there. |
Re: f...gibbs
Betts is good at short yardage. I didn't have a problem with him being in the game. I had a problem JC spiking the ball on 1st down with 50 seconds left, and then the two run plays on 3rd and 4th down.
JC could have Qb sneaked it in on 1st down if he would have just taken his freakin time.
No, Betts is not good at short yardage. That's why he can't score touchdowns. Betts is the worst goal line back I have EVER seen. I knew they wouldn't score on 4th after he didn't break the tackle on third. That was horrendous. Now, I'm not pointing all of this loss on Betts because it's clearly not all his fault, but he should have scored on 3rd down. |
Re: f...gibbs
Conservative play calling was NOT the problem. That's what you do when you are up 17 - 3 at the half. You rely on your defense, and you don't commit turnovers. This loss is TOTALLY on the team (defense mostly) -- not the coaches.

Gibbs has got to stop being SO conservative. The Giants have a great offense despite the poor D. Saunders' offenses churned up tons of yards and points in KC and St. Louis. Up 2 TD's at home against that joke D in a division game with a chance to take a 3-0 record into the bye? We've got to have some killer instinct. We had our hands around their throat. We let go instead of squeezing harder. Say what you will about the defense allowing 3rd down conversions, missing tackles, etc... THEY WERE ON THE FIELD THE ENTIRE SECOND HALF!!! We have to be better on offense. When I think of how easily we could be 0-3, I don't have much confidence in this team. Gibbs needs to wake up and smell the offense. |
Re: f...gibbs
Yeah I blame gibbs for not having CP on the field. You know he can make this mistake once and I'll let him. But if he does it again I'll still love him. hopefully he's learned his lesson. HAIL!!!

Re: f...gibbs
too old, too slow and way too conservative.....thanks to inept coaching, another losing season looms ahead-the Skins won't recover- they got a physical beat down in the second half which will linger througout the season.....watch all the other teams as they will copy the Giants 2nd half game plan and physically kick the Skins ass the rest of the season.....you never sit on a lead in the NFL-what a waste of offensive talent....you had the Giants on the ropes and you come out in the second half and every time you get the ball it's 3 plays and a punt- Bad Coaching lost this game-and don't get me started on Williams/Gibbs letting Antonio Pierce go......Giants will again win both games against the Skins...the G-Men in their stadium against the Skins....why even bother to show up with a Gibbs coached team.......Snyder better Man Up and face the truth...another dissapointing year, more heartbreak and more fans lost.......line up Cowher now and let Gibbs go back to NASCAR & Williams who apparently thinks all defensive players are interchangeable go torture another team and fans.....

WOW! Welcome to the site Edman. I wouldn't go that far. I think anyone here would have been happy if you told them in the preseason we'd be 2-1 heading into the bye with one of those wins coming against Philly on MNF. We have to get healthy and re-evaluate. I wouldn't send Gibbs packing just yet. If we win 2 outta 3 all year we'll be 10-6. |

But he screwed up too. His fumble was pathetic and Troy Aikman pointed it out. So all you people who rip Betts when he fumbles, you need to rip Portis too. Oh, and case you forgot, Portis dropped a pass that could have kept a drive alive. Portis sucked yesterday. |

I'm not even sure why you'd welcome him to the site quite honestly. Based on his first post, one can deduct that he has nothing worthwhile to offer. Just someone else to add to the site that plans on doing nothing but bitching and moaning just for the hell of it. |

Edman- i agree with your frustration- and perhaps some of your theories on the source, however GM has a point, at 2-1, i don't think we can complain too much... i know i didn't expect it. |
Re: f...gibbs
everyone is dogging the play calling. fact is Jason threw 34 or 35 times. We WILL NOT win games if he is throwing the ball that many times. We were up 17-3, what in the hell are we doing?? Everyone wants to dog the last couple of plays, but we lost that game well before then. Besides the fact, if we can't score from freaking 2, then we deserve to lose no matter what play is called. Fact is, we over looked the Giants, as usual, and got our asses beat again. If we are a good team, we just dont lose that game. we are up 14 freaking points. the offense couldn't sustain a drive, the D got wore out. that is unexcusable if we are going to compete with the elite teams in the NFL.

Did you watch the game?? Yes we were passing but they were little pussy passes. It looked like they were calling pass plays for Brunell. |
Re: f...gibbs
All that needs to be said is bad coaching on the offensive side of the ball. Al Saunders should give back his paycheck for the week cause he certainly didn't earn it.
As for Portis vs Betts, well, who is to say who could've done what...neither of them went anywhere when it mattered. |

Oh, and case you forgot, Portis dropped a pass that could have kept a drive alive. Portis sucked yesterday.
As I pointed out in the Portis thread, it was a muffed hand off. Portis never had possession. It's a little different than breaking a 30 yard run and getting stripped from behind. And yeah, Portis sucked yesterday... He only had 4.3 per carry and a touchdown. Betts was just spectacular with his 1.3 yard average and failed goal line attempts... |
Re: f...gibbs
Could someone explain to me why we always act like such little girls (no offense to little girls) and drop f-bombs, curse the coaches, and act like our season is toast whenever we lose a game? Something tells me that those same babies are the same fans who loudly boast to others when we win. Get some perspective, quit crying, and quit labeling anyone else as a blind optimist.
Sorry, people who know me know that I tend to shy away from being so harsh and I too am really disappointed with our 2nd half implosion, but I'm getting really really really really tired of seeing the same "I'm freaking out" posts. The coaches made some mistakes, the players made some mistakes, and things didn't go our way yesterday. Deal. |
