Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League
Looking at NFL.com FA page, the Pats, Texans and Jags have all each signed more FA's than our entire division so far. :)
Three teams that should be in rebuilding mode, but are not. Although the Jags and Pats have a ton of cap room. |
Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jaguars have their two starting cornerbacks locked up for at least the next three seasons after the team agreed to terms with former Seattle Seahawk Shaquill Griffin on a three-year deal, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Griffin's contract is worth $44.5 million with $29 million guaranteed, the source said. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31076288/jacksonville-jaguars-agree-three-year-445-million-deal-shaquill-griffin-source-says |

Cowboys signing OT Ty Nsekhe.
Always liked that dude. |

Idk Chico .. looking at all these 3 year deals, they all have small cap hits for this year then really look like 2 year deals with small guaranteed money tied to the 3rd year. His deal is basically 2 years/24.5M and if they want to cut him after 2 years, its 4M dead cap. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/jacksonville-jaguars/shaquill-griffin-21832/ I would definitely pay him 12M per for 2 years with essentially a team option for a 3rd year. I keep repeating myself but I feel like we our doing a standard normal approach to a unique offseason in which we were perfectly situated and prepared for. Shrunk cap + half the teams cant go after big name players + cap should explode in next couple of years = sign some of these 3 year deals which are really 2 year deals that also have low 2021 cap hits. We were supposed to TAKE ADVANTAGE of this situation .. instead we are sitting around making sure all our drinks have fucking coasters underneath them on our coffee table while saying starting corners never made 10 million in my day. Its like we saved all this money to invest in stocks one day waiting for the right time, then covid hits and theres bargain all over the place to be had by people who saved up their money ... but we decide we want to be in the CD and bond business instead. |

Still a lot of time left and many players still to be had in free agency. We're just getting started. We can expect more cuts before the deadline too. It's a measured approach...be patient my friend. |
Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League
Griffin just isn’t a good player...pretty average. He’s not worth the 29mill guarantee nor 12 per. But Jacksonville got the cap for the risk, just glad we didn’t do it.

Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League
Damien Williams was just cut by the Chiefs. He could be an interesting 2d back for us.

I could be wrong but I prefer this approach to the pay them all and roll the dice. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |

Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League
Chicago made "a very aggressive pursuit" of Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, per sources, and the Bears were told that Seattle is not trading him at this time.
4 team called them |
Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League
One low key signing I noticed is Christian Kirksey to Houston 1yr 4,5M. He's a quality player IMO and we need support at LB especially after losing KPL. He's been hurt quite a lot, but at 28 he's proof that quality LB can be sign at decent prices, and I sure hope we manage to do that!
