Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Lowest Turnover-Worthy Play Rate in the NFL in 2020:
1. TB Tom Brady - 1.6% T-2. DET Matthew Stafford - 2.3% T-2. GB Aaron Rodgers - 2.3% 4. HOU Deshaun Watson - 2.6% That is Stafford's lowest in his career (min 100 pass attempts) |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Well, I guarantee you he won't remain in LA as the backup to Herbert. Someone will bring him in to compete for the starting role - Colts, 49ers, Broncos, Bears...
I don’t see it man. He’s a backup and has had his shot at starting with Buffalo and Cleveland now and just can’t get it done. Good dude and I’m sure great to have as a QB2 to teach the young guys. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
This team is too close not to pursue every option at QB ... we need some luck also .. we’ve had our share of bad ..

You might be right. We'll see what happens. He was replaced by Mayfield after suffering a concussion, and replaced by Herbert after the lung piercing. With both clubs he was to be the starter. Maybe he's just destined to be a backup. But out of the rest of the FA QBs, I don't like anyone over him for the price - if that's how they end up addressing the position. |

I think teams look at him as a bridge qb, a guy who can hold it down with solid play until your young stud gets enough practice to be the guy. Chargers were probably looking at him starting most of the year if not the entire year if he played good, and if he played bad he would have a short leash. The lung piercing just sped up their gameplan. |

Very possible, but he was traded to Cleveland before Baker, and signed by San Diego before Herbert. Either way, that's my point. He would be a good bridge QB if that's what they are looking for. But if Kyle Allen is healthy and they want a bridge QB, they probably just roll with him and Heinicke. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Wondering if it would be worth offering 2 of our dline for Watson. We have the depth to handle that. Perhaps we even keep our 1st that way. Thoughts?

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Here is a new take I have seen yet:
According to @nfltrade_rumors “Eagles Telling HC Candidates They Want Carson Wentz Back In 2021” Let’s trade for Jalen Hurts if they going to force Wentz back into the lineup!! |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I'd love to get Watson, but what we would have to give up for him is likely to be far too great. And not every great QB is a 1st round pick. Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, Kurt Warner, Brett Favre, Steve Young, Joe Montana, Joe Theismann, Rodger Staubach, Ken Stabler, Johnny Unitas, and Bart Starr -- all Superbowl winning QBs, and not one of them was a 1st round pick. And this leaves a lot of other talented guys off the list -- Dak Prescott, Fran Tarkenton, Mark Brunell, Brad Johnson, and Mark Rypien come to mind. And, of course, there are a lot of 1st round busts -- and we've had more than our fair share of them (Haskins, Shuler, Ramsey, Campbell). I don't buy that the only way for us to get a franchise QB is to trade or trade up in the draft.

One Dlineman a 1st a 3rd and if forced a 2nd rounder next year. 2 dlineman your cutting into the depth. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
The Texans are not going to give us Watson for a pick and a DL lol..
Honestly the only player we have that u can throw into a deal like that is Sweat and a 1 plus 2 |

Does look great tho |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
It does look great, but unless Bill O'Brien comes back to negotiate with us, the price would be too high.
|
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
What is too high for a bona-fide 25 year old franchise QB? I'd trade 3 1st and this years 2nd for him and lock him up to a Mahomes like contract. And I'd do it yesterday.
|
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I'm not sure I'd do that, but regardless, if Watson does get traded (and it isn't clear he will), someone will overpay and I'd rather it not be us. I don't see Rivera making a big swing like that either. But time may prove me wrong on all counts.
