Why shouldn't they be? |
Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
Failing to see why the scores should be public. While we're at it why don't we just release all of their medical recs too?

I asked you first. |
Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
Why shouldn't they be?
Because it is private information used for a specific purpose. Just like you might submit a school transcript to get a job but you wouldn't want me posting your transcript on Facebook for all of the world to see. |
Failing to see why the scores should be public. While we're at it why don't we just release all of their medical recs too?
Medical records are private due to laws and regulations (HIPAA), much like educational scores from their universities. Those should be kept guarded under such and in no way comparable to a Wonderlic score. A Wonderlic test for the NFL combine should be treated like a 40 yard dash, or a shuttle run. Those are not only public, but broadcasted on TV. So why not the Wonderlic score? |

If that Wonderlic score was administered by their University, I would agree with you, but it's not. Not the same, and you are comparing apples to oranges. |

Why are you advocating taking away even more of what little privacy these guys have? Just because these guys will be playing in the NFL in the near future doesn't mean we deserve access to every single little bit of information they have. |

Then they probably don't need to be going to the NFL. Their whole lives will become open to the public. Going to the club? We'll know. Say something stupid on Twitter? We'll know. Knock up a few random hoes? We'll know. Fail drug tests? We'll know. Get arrested for DUI or making it rain? We'll know. Either make it all open, or just close it off entirely which will be fine with me. |

I think I would want to know specifically why should they be public, and not just a "just because" answer. I think Claiborne's example is a good reason why it should not be public. When you get into IQ examinations, there could be a disclosure of some type of learning disability, which I think would be an invasion of privacy for the player. I would be curious to know if there are guidelines and agreements in terms of what is private and what is not in terms of the Wonderlic and the team interviews with players. I would be curious to see if there are any stipulations by the NFLPA that allows for player privacy in these matters or if there are any NFL policies that protects player privacy. I believe the NFL is not a public company, therefore I don't think the public is entitled to demand for information about NFL employees to be public "just because". |
Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
There's actually a lot, A LOT, we don't know. And it should (in my opinion) stay that way. More is known to the general public than needs to be known

In the end, all of the combine information is important for the teams to know and no one else. I believe if the NFL was a public company or funded by public money, then you could argue your "just because" reasoning, although even then I believe that are guidelines under the Freed of Information Act on what information can be made available to the public. |

Then close off the combine to only teams and participants. Problem solved. I have 0 problem with that. |

Very good article on Phillip Thomas the FS from Syracuse...(I'm gonna bet Phillip Thomas will be a Washington Redskin when the draft ends)

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects

Absolutely... I wouldn't draft him with our 3rd rounder (B. Massie or Schwartz ), but if he's still available at #102, we should draft him... We could have 2 potential Wk. 1 starters in Massie/Schwartz and Thomas, and they both fill needs (RT, FS) |

He would play free safety which is very much a need. |

Talkin about Phillip Thomas this article shows why he want to be a Redskin. Sean Taylor had a huge impact on this kid and therefore I believe he will run through a wall for this team!!

I haven't been able to fully confirm this, but since NC wants to know...Luck got a 41 on his Wonderlic and Griffin got a 44.

I still have to wonder why the NFL uses the damn Wonderlic. It's a very dated test, and not the best tool for the job. I do psychological testing for a living, and I can tell you that there are many more accurate and brief tests available, including the KBIT. As a Master's level clinician, I can do the testing, scoring and reporting in less than 2 hours total. You could also include some aptitude testing like CAPS that will hit anything relavent that KBIT doesn't. |

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
Phillip Thomas is indeed a dominating presents on the field, though most of his issues come with dealing with the big play, much like D.Hall, he could easily be coached into something better. I believe he's going to be a seal for the Redskins in the late 4th or early 5th rounds.

When ones having a bad day, most of us would just say..... stop posting. Nope, not me. I'm going to fight through it. I posted this in the OL:draft thread because well I was already there.

This year is no exception. Pro Football Talk posted some details about the carnage resulting from the test taken by LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne, a likely top 10 pick and at one point in the mix for the Redskins at six before the trade with the Rams... "The NFL has kept the Wonderlic results under tighter wraps than usual this year. Or maybe the media has had enough other things to keep itself occupied. "Regardless, the first eye-opening score has leaked from the 2012 edition of the 50-question Wonderlic test. Per multiple league sources, LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne scored a four. "Yes. A four. Out of 50." I don't know if you heard Matty but Morris Claiborne scored a 4 out of 50 on his wonderlic. That's right, a 4. |

Hey, I was just wondering ... Has anyone heard that a likely top draft pick scored abysmally low on the wonderlic? If true, anyone got a link?
