how awesome was that three TE formation with a full back, man i really miss the days of the bunch formation, endless motion before the snap, flea-flickers, half-time adjustments, a physical O-line, a bend but don't break Defense...man I miss the old skins.

Lived in Chicago at the time. Scalped a ticket to go to the game. The Bears were [I]sure[/I] they were going to win over the 0-5 Redskins. They were shocked when they were "upset." Fan reaction wasn't much different that it was around here after the Titans game.

Thanks for that. Since I was at the game, I never saw the film.

No problem dude, although I wasn't around that year, it was pretty sweet seeing our D destroy the bears.

Joe Lavender and Lemar Parrish--the best Skins CB tandem ever...

I used to have these great pencil sketches of "Redskin Stars" that local Shell gas stations used to hand out as a promo. They were free when my dad filled up with 10 gallons or more. I had the Lavender and Parrish sketches--wish I had kept them.

I remember that game as well! It really doesn't seem like that long ago. To be honest, doesn't it kind of depress you a bit when it almost seems as if you blink an eye and you're 20 or 30 years older? Heck, I was just 10 years old it seems like, now I'm sitting here at 32! Those were the days of the true Redskins!

I REMEMBER THIS GAME! :woot:

I lived in Chicago then, and scalped a ticket to Soldier Field to watch it. I had a good friend there. We would give each other s--- depending on how the Bears and Redskins did week to week. The season before, the Skins lost to the Bears in Chicago, 35-21. Went to that game, too, thinking that the problem was at quarterback. Theisman played well, I thought. However, the Redskins did not look good.

In the 1981 game, no one knew who Joe Gibbs was. The Bears checked this game as a "win" from the beginning of the season. So they were shocked not only at the loss, but at how they lost. They griped about it until the end of the season. I got to feed my buddy all the crap he gave me a year earlier.

That win was the start of something big, although no one knew it that day. Gibbs and the Redskins won 29 of their next 35 reg season games and went to SB 17 & 18. We don't talk about SB 18 much, but I remember that Chicago game.

Great Defense back then. The 2nd half of the doubleheader 49ers vs Boys sounds like it would have been a good game.
