I hope this is a wake up call
The offense was flat in the second half, the defense gave a lot of critical 3rd down conversions. Overall not a good game, my man Rocky had an off game, Landry looked like a rookie at times. GW didn't adjust to all the runs to the left till it was too late. After this loss I hope they are extremely pissed, never underestimate your opponent. Kudos to the G-men D. One more thing, Betts needs to watch tape of how Marion Barber runs the ball, WITH AUTHORITY!! Run the ball like the cops are chasing you!!!
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
yeah I hope so too. Terrible play calling on our part.
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
I saw this coming from a mile away. Gibbs kept saying that they cant be underestimated and what happens. We handle them fairly well in the first half and got cocky and they turned around and fucked us over.
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
Not sure if a 2-1 team needs a wake up call, but they will definitely have something to think about over the bye and will hopefully come back ready to rock.
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
Back to reality is all I can say. Look at clubs like Pitt, NE, and Indy. These teams put away opposing teams and dominate from the get go. We have all of these offensive weapons and get nada in the second half. How can we get 4 shots on the one at the end and not get it in? Should have been 4 shots up the gut by CP or Sellers and wham probable tie game. Most guys in this forum could have called a better offensive game than what Saunders did in the second half. 3 turnovers and we still lose. WTF!!!!!!
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
What a difference a half makes. I was feeling really good and thought we had a chance to do some good things this season. I still think we can but we can not keep choke like that.
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
That has to be the worse football I have seen in my life during the 2nd half. We blew it. No excuse.
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
If the Skins had won they would have been the worst 3-0 team. The skins look vulnerable and we have not played any of the powerful teams. The Dolphins are terrible. The Eagles were a week late before they found their game. The Giants are not a very good team and we lost to them.
It looks like Gibbs does not have a ton of confidence in Campbell. We are not playing smart football. We are making too many mental mistakes. |
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
We better beat the hell out of the Lions!!!!!!!! They have virtually no running game to speak of, check their rushing stats, they totally suck, but have the studs at WR to do great damage. We need a pass rush desperately to win this game. Kitna will kill us via the air unless he is hurried. THe Lions don't have the greatest O line. The Lions have not beaten the Skins at home since before I was born(1970, last time Detroit won in Wash was 1967) We lose to the Lions we will be a joke. We need to cream these guys!!!!

Re: I hope this is a wake up call
If we don't get it together soon look for Gibbs to pull JC for Collins or even his "buddy". Not saying I agree with it, but knowing past history he might yank JC.
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
That is ridiculous. Why would Gibbs pull JC? I think he played fine, we just didn't have good play calling and we couldn't get our defense off the field.

GW is a solid coach, but Saunders sucks. Jury is out on Gibbs II. I still think we should have gone after Fassel with a ton of $$$$$$$ and giving him a free hand in running the show. Why do I say that? Fassel overachieved with the players he had and even wound up in the SB against the Ravens the one year. We are stacked with talent and can't score from the frigging one. I want us to beat the living shit out of Detroit now. Only thing that will give me any hope of us contending for anything. |

I think it should need a wakeup call if the team wants to be a contender. |

Oh boy here we go again JC is not going to be yanked. Sorry but that's just a dumb thought. |

So should the Broncos bench Cutler cause he had a bad game today? C'mon, remember these guys are young! This is a team effort, you knew it was going to be a bad day when Suisham missed the 39 yard field goal, Carlos Rogers whiffed on the Plexiglas tackle that he scored on and so on.... |
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
2nd half was terrible
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
Hey, he just might pull JC say in week 10-11 if the season is on the verge of tanking. He pulled Ramsey after one lousy game for crying out loud. I am not saying pull him now either. He hasn't done anything to warrant that yet, but he does look shaky and the stats back it up. IF we keep losing like this Gibbs might not have a choice. But then again Gibbs or Saunders needs to call better games also.

Re: I hope this is a wake up call
Not. Going. To. Happen.

Ha, and you think that will keep them from beating us? |
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
How about RUNNING THE BALL ON FIRST AND SECOND DOWN WHEN YOU HAVE A 17-3 LEAD????????????
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
As people have said many times already. 14 points isn't good enough. We need to establish a 21-24 point lead if we are going to relax like we did. Running the ball wasn't working so well. We were trying to score.
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
Even if running the ball wasn't working well, you keep at it with a QB starting his 10th game.
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
We lost the game cuz the offense couldnt stay on the field in the second half and keep the defense fresh...we do that and we win...our inability to stop them in the second half has more to do with the offense than the defense
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
The defense is not the problem!!!
|
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
The Lions are really, really bad. Not much else you can say about that.
If the Giants were as bad as the Lions are, we would have been 3-0 at the half. And I say that knowing fully that a two touchdown lead was not enough today. |

Well, some things you just can't practice. Most of our players haven't actually had this real life experience, unlike the majority of the Dallas roster. |
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
If we play like we did yesterday against the lions, we will lose by 2 or 3 scores. It really seems like we were out-coached again.......the Giant's secondary=one of the worst in the league # of deep balls thrown by redkins before final drive = 2? 3?
Giant's game plan...stack the box Redskins game plan...run into that stacked box and throw short passes right into that stacked box? halftime=redskins didn't make adjustments AGAIN Giants Did = loss |
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
I just threw up in my mouth thinking about that 2nd half...and the blame lies 90% on the offense, 10% defense. i mean we get 3 turnovers and lose the f'ing game. i am so pissed off right now!! Being a Redskins fan is taking years off my life expectancy.

Re: I hope this is a wake up call
The wake up call to the coaches...
Let's try to actually score more than 16 pts in a game. Let's try to handle the red zone like we're a professional football team. It's really horrendous to watch. |
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
How about RUNNING THE BALL ON FIRST AND SECOND DOWN WHEN YOU HAVE A 17-3 LEAD????????????
are you really advocating for more runs on first and second down to run the clock down early in the third quarter? those type of calls are what get us in trouble... that type of scheme only works when you are running the ball effectively for first downs, which we weren't. run, run, pass is what led us to 3 and outs...... note, when i say run, run, pass i include little dump passes (designed) as runs, as they were just as ineffective yesterday... |
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
The defense is not the problem!!!
only bc they forced 3 turnovers...otherwise they were very generous...didn't make stops...though that prob. has a lot to do with the O not being able to stay on the field. |
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
gibbs is mad. he will fix this

Not sure how you came up with that. The only example I could think of in all of Gibbs years coaching is Ramsey and we see what he has done sense then. Last year the argument is that he was sticking too long to Brunell. |

JC played OK at best he had so many wide open WR's I got the feeling he was starring down one WR for the whole play. I can think of about 6 to 8 times that he had a man wide open and dumped off a pass to someone else for a short to no gain. I understand that its only his 10th start but if he is starring down WR's the coaching staff needs to work on that with him. It was so bad my wife even asked why he was not throwing the ball to these WR's. |

Nice comeback :) I really like the way Barber runs, he's one tough bastard. Every time I watch him he's getting gang tackled and never gives up or slows down. |
Re: I hope this is a wake up call
We are in good shape, everyone in that locker room understands they let one get away, after we had the ggirls right where we wanted them at the half way point.
We will come back STRONG after the break! There is NO wake up call needed! |
