whats up with all the thursday games?
starting today we have 5 straight weeks of football games on thursday nights, including the skins in 2 weeks.I know weve had thursday games before but i dont remember this many,am i wrong? I'm not a big fan of them,I think it sucks for the road team to have to travel after a sunday game.Even Aikman in last weeks game said the league needs to make a rule that for home teams playing on thursday need to have a road game the week prior, but thankfully for us this yr we are home for the thursday game and the week prior,if it was the other way around that would really suck

Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
I can't get enough football, so I have no problem with thursday games.
How about some Tuesday night football? :D |

Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
its all about the money. and the NFL network. and im with jsarno, i cant get enough
|
Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
I'm with jsarno and dmek on this one, I like these thursday night games. Hell, if they had games every day of the week i'd watch them if i wasn't busy.

Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
USC vs. Arizona State tonight that is a big game
|
Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
Thursday night football is great but watching Dallas win again sux out loud.
|
Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
The problem with adding too many different nights or making teams prepare on a short week is typically when you have 2ish less days to prepare, the product isn't as good.

I agree. Another downside is injuries and after game soreness. |

thats what I'm saying, its great for the fans but its too hard on a team, especially the road team,if the skins had played on the road and then had to play a thursday nite game on the road we'd be screaming bloody frickin murder! and as long as the nfl keeps this shit up it will eventually screw us,I'm all for the thanksgiving games but this is too much,it seems like every yr for a long time weve either gotten a thursday game or a sat game so you know the schedule makers will eventually screw us |

Yeah, I stopped watching. I swear, if the Cowpatties and the Patriots make the super bowl, I will not watch it. I have not missed an SB since birth! |

Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
I for one love the Thursday night games. Especially since the college football season is starting to come to a close so I won't get to watch the ACC games on ESPN.
As for the SB, if we don't win I would love to see the Packers win it. |
Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
I don't like the thursday night game solely because I do not get the NFL network due to my lame-ass cable provider. I'll be missing the Redskin game in 2 weeks and that chaps my ass.
|
Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
Even thoe Time Warner wont get the NFL Net alot of people are still upset.I so glad I have the Dreict TV and the Sunday Ticket.

I have the same problem, but i love football, cant get enough of it. When our night comes i will just have to go to a bar i guess. |

why...thanks Captain Obvious. |
Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
Gotta love it, never to much football. Any day is a great day for football.
|
Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
Tell you this much, if it does not have a halftime, or a seventh inning stretch, ole sandtrap does not watch too much TV.
I love football and will watch Ball State at 2 am playing Hawaii in a Yiddish simulcast, with a Pig Latin close caption if I need to! |

You can't not like Farve, he is fun to watch, and he plays like a kid, with all the enthusiasm. 2. It would be a nice way for Farve to bow out...which would give the Skins one less solid competitor in the NFC next year. (Although all signs seem to indicate that Farve will continue to play until dementia kicks in) |
Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
They started the Thurs. night games last year.

He holds out and hold the team hostage, and whines in the press when others do the same. He blast WRs when they run incorrect routes, and quietly jogs off the field after countless stupid interceptions. He took help when he was a 2nd and 3rd stringer, but goes to the press and says he won't help is Alex Rodgers. |

And yet they are 10-1 and he's playing some of the best ball of his career. If you don't like Favre, I honestly think you just don't like football. |
Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
wear have you been they did this last year and they'll do it next year!

Re: whats up with all the thursday games?
I don't like Favre, but that has more to do with my upbringing. I grew up in the Chicagoland area, and while the Bears' style of play certainly didn't entice me, I did adapt the mentality of the fans of the area, and that's pretty much view the Packers as a whiny, holier than thou football team, who deserves all the bad luck in the world. I don't enjoy the "way" Favre plays the game, even if he is really, really good at it.
Of course, I have the utmost respect for what he is doing at age 38, it's beyond impressive. That doesn't mean I have to enjoy it. As far as Matty's statement, would you still apply the same logic to Romo? That's pretty much where I'm coming from. I have great respect Romo's game, but I don't have to like it. Same with Favre. |

 If you don't like Favre, I honestly think you just don't like football.[/QUOTE] Thank You GOD of all things Football. (GOD I hate to say this) I have more respect for Romo's game, than Farve. Farve throws too many interceptions and shows up his wideouts. I don't like QBS that so that, Don't like WRs who show up QBs and prefer RBs who score TDs and act like they are suppose to be in the endzone and just give the ref the ball. Jim Brown, Jerry Rice and Steve Young - Yes Steve Young. I'd take his stats over Farve any day of the week. His career numbers for passing and rushing leave Farve's in the dust. Look at FArve's best year v. Youngs I won't say if you don't like them you don't like football, but I will say if I am going to praise a Non Redskin, I will praise the best of the lot. If you need a current player the conversation starts and stops with Brady. I'd his last 7 seasons against ANY 7 seasons from Farve - AND he has hotter Chics! |

But here are some numbers for you, 4 Consecutive years leading the league (years which included Farve) in passing, Tied with Slingin Sammy Baugh with record 6 years leading the league in passing, Passer Rating career ( 96.8 while farve is currently 85.9 ) and Season (112.8 while Farve is currently having his best at 101.5 ), TD to INT Rating, Years leading the league in passing. How about 114 starts and 198 passing TDs plus 33 rushing TD with 80 Ints with 254 sacks. During that same period Farve had 235 passing TDs 13 rushing with 139 ints and 267 sacks. Dude you can have any affinity you want for Farve. GOD love you for it. I simply choose to praise a QB I think is statistically better. I believe this shows enough - right? |
