Trent Green and Marty Booker Cut from Dolphins...

I just saw on espn.com (ESPN - Green, Booker among nine cuts by rebuilding Dolphins - NFL) that Trent Green and Marty Booker were both cut from the Dolphins.

Any thoughts on potentially bringing in one of them to help bring more veteran leadership to the QBs and WRs?

PS. I am still looking at Jason Campbell to be the starter, not replacing him with Trent

if someone suggesting bringing Trent Green in to be the starter or even have an open training camp competition they would get shot down so quickly lol. I don't think we need to bring either of them in, maybe Marty Booker to see if he could compete for a roster spot but if he was let go I wouldn't be disappointed.

The NFL should do Trent Green a favor and ban him from playing ever again. Seriously, the guy has had more concussions then most veteran linebackers. I know it sucks considering that his life has revolved around football up untill this point but I'm convinced that a guy like Trent could be a great QB coach (hmm?).

As for Marty, I'll be the first to start the party line, maybe for the vet minimum.

I like Booker but I'd rather just hold on to Caldwell.

Bring them both in.. at the league minimum :spank:

(OK... the offseason has officially begun on here... now we can have all of the threads about everyone who is available and how we should sign them at the league minimum)

Re: Trent Green and Marty Booker Cut from Dolphins...

If Trent Green's headed anywhere it may be to compete with Collins for the backup role in STL. Saunders made them both what they are and they only succeed under his system. He's a "no go" physically and system wise here now.

More concussions than Steve Young? I was pretty young when he was finishing his career. But I do remember that that guy was constantly out with concussions and I remember thats why he had to retire. Everytime you turned around the guy had his head on backwards.

Re: Trent Green and Marty Booker Cut from Dolphins...

Booker, fine, but not Green. All of these years I had been wishing we kept him, but now he's too dangerous (to himself) to keep on a roster.

We need a backup who can both stay healthy when needed to play, plus who can actually stay on the team for more than a season.

Re: Trent Green and Marty Booker Cut from Dolphins...

This is interesting considering the collins thread that was started today. which would Al want more to come to st.louis?

Green might be wise to step away, but he did start his career here & maybe he'd be a good backup to bring into camp. He might end up getting cut again anyway.

Does every released player in the NFL get this type of scrutiny from other teams fan base or is it just us? It seems like we are the champions of every over the hill and or washed up player that has hit the streets in the last few years.

Panthers just cut OG Mike Wahle. I'd much rather focus on him

Re: Trent Green and Marty Booker Cut from Dolphins...

we should not consider either of them! Green is one banana peel away from the PUP list, and booker has trouble catching colds.
Both are useless to us, and by suggesting we bring them in really concerns me about the knowledge of the common fan. They are done.

Green No way! Booker I say no.However if he is willing to come in for the league minimum maybe, though it would be pointless. We need a possesion receiver that is at least 6'3.Period.

I'd rather have Green than;
Brad Johnson
Jeff George
Tony Banks
Shane Mathews
Danny Wuerffel
Patrick Ramsey
and Mark Brunnell!

LJ Shelton was also cut, I would consider him before the green or booker.

but I say go for booker too.

I do prefer line help...how old is Wahle?

Ya know...we really need some youth at all these suggested spots,
QB, WR, OG, OT.

We can probabably *gulp* do better in the draft.

The only spot I want a new vet is perhaps at corner or a stud WR...otherwise, I say we draft it up!

Re: Trent Green and Marty Booker Cut from Dolphins...

LJ Shelton & Wahle are good targets to provide depth and experience on the OL. Both started all 16 games last season. If the money can fit (veteran minimum...J/K) Cerrato should be on the phone now.

Really no interest in Green or Booker. Our WR corps could use a big physical threat (Bryant Johnson, DJ Hackett) at a realistic price. But outside of that, our WRs are solid if Moss stays healthy and Mix develops.

We need to look at Wahle, he is much younger than Kendell(SP) and we need help at the L-Guard position...

Wahle is going on 30, not that old, but his cap # was high & they wanted to put in some youth.

How old is Shelton?

That is fine that his cap # was high, they cut him we wouldn't have to pick that up then.

Wahle is a starter, no way he backs up anyone, certainly not for chump change

I think its safe to say that any and all released players have at least a minimal chance to end up in D.C. There, now will be no more threads started about released vets. Go me.
we don't need everyone garbage
now now, just because a player is released don't assume them to be "garbage?" In the cap era especially, there've been quite a no. of released players that go on to start elsewhere. Was Stephen Davis "garbage" when we cut him?

I'm all for developing some draft picks & youth, but if you can add a few vet players to compete for spots in camp at a reasonable price, why not? e.g, Shelton might be a nice upgrade over Wade.
