jsarno's top 10 power poll

Here is my top 10 power poll after week 3. (note the Jets / SD game has no influence on the top ten, therefore I can make my list tonight)

1- Denver This team has been impressive top to bottom. They are extremely explosive and the D is pretty good even though they have let up 84 points thus far. Cutler has figured it out, and it doesn't matter if it's Young, Hall, or Pittman running the ball, they can do what they want, when they want.

2- Dallas :vomit: I know no one wants to see them this high, but in all fairness, they could easily be #1. I thought about 1a and 1b. There are confident, they are explosive, they are just plain good. When they make mistakes, it's no big deal, they come back the next play and shove it down teams throats! We have quite a challenge ahead of us.

3- Tennessee Now that VY is not starting, this team shows that they are for real. They have a great running game, and they have the best D in the business right now letting up only 29 points in 3 games. Jeff Fisher does not get enough credit for being a good head coach.

4- NY Giants This is one of the few teams that could sustain losing both DE's and still have a good D. No one, including myself, gave them a chance to succeed, and they are. The offense is solid, and the d is surprisingly good.

5- Philadelphia I actually think that the Eagles are better than the Giants, but due to the fact that the Giants are 3-0 and SB champs, they get the nod. Phily when healthy is a tough team to stop, and while they are enjoying a top 5 rating right now, McNabb hurt his shoulder and Westbrook hurt his ankle. Westbrook will likely miss next week (as early reports are saying) this will likely hurt their stature.

6- Buffalo I don't feel this team is for real, but for now, they are showing moxie.

7- Pittsburgh This is a tough team that lost to a tough team. No shame in that.

8- Washington :point: Green Bay might be better than us, but right now, we're pretty close to even IMO. The maturation of Campbell allows this to happen.

9- Green Bay Rodgers is better than I thought he would be. I guess the Packers knew what they were doing after all.

10- Arizona Finally the Cards are living up to the hype. They have a strong offense, and their D is nothing to sneeze at. This should be a playoff year for them.

How can you have Philly ahead of Dallas when Philly lost to Dallas?

Although, I disagree with you, I like your analysis of the top NFL teams because you make some interesting choices, to say the least.....Denver and Tennessee are just plain way too high and having Philly ahead of Dallas is not logical, as "WaldSkins" said.

My top 10 (um 12, had to hard of a time narrowing it down on the back end):
#1 Dallas (Obviously, I hate to say this, but a win at Green Bay proves it)
#2 NY Giants (Not impressive against Bungals, but impressive when it counted most)
#3 Philly (To much balance on both sides of the ball not to put them this high)
#4 Pittsburgh (Loss to Philly is not indicative of what they can do in AFC)
#5 Denver (The penchant to win close games is sign of good team and the AFC West is weak)
#6 Buffalo (3-0 is 3-0 and wins against Seattle and J'Ville are no joke)
#7 Tenn (Dismantling the Texans shows this 'D' is pretty good)
#8 49ers (If Martz keeps the 'O' Rolling, watch out, Willis is a monster a ILB, this team could go higher in the coming weeks)
#9 Washington (2 straight wins in close games merit a single-digit rating for a team that looks like it is finding an identity)
#10 Jacksonville (A tight win at Indy tells me you should throw out the record + watch out!)
#11 Green Bay (good team, but there will be growing pains with Rogers at the helm)
#12 Baltimore (Flacco does not need to try lead a high powered 'O', he needs to play like Trent Dilfer did in 2000 and trust the 'D' + the running game)

Denver needs to play some defense to warrant a top spot.

I'm slowly getting on the Tennessee bandwagon as well. I like the Lendale White/Chris Johnson combo. Add that to an absolutely nasty defense and a qb that hasn't had a lobotomy and you've got a pretty damn solid team, seemingly built for the playoffs.

I don't see Brian Griese leading Tampa Bay too far into the post season (or even that far...) It's very possible that the Saints win that division.

Did you watch the entire game? Dallas' defense shut the Eagles down in the second half. Granted the Eagles are better than the redskins and Giants but they have beat Dallas first. The NFC East and NFC runs through Dallas. Deal with it!

Re: jsarno's top 10 power poll

Right now Mine looks like this

Dallas (not a homer but hey have beaten two tough teams more than anyone else)
Denver ( Yes their defense gives a lot of points but hey have found a way to come on top)
Philly (2-1 losing to the top team in a great match and destroying Pittsburgh)
Tennessee (the best defense in the NFL right now no doubt)
NY Giants (They look good and came back from a game that they almost lost)
Green Bay (have tons of weapons good defense need maturaty)
Buffalo (hey they're beating everyone you put infront of them)
Pittsburgh (lost a tough mach with a banged up QB they need to protect Ben better or they won't make it to the playoffs)
Baltimore (second best defense in the NFL if they can get a little help from the offense they will be tough to beat)
San Diego (I know 0-2 but have lost two close games against good teams one with the msot controversial call, they have the talent to be great)

Denver @ #1? That's a highly questionable pick at #1.

Offensively, yes. They have no D though.

Well, I had them ahead of Dallas after week 1, and have not done anything to warrant taking them out of that spot. They are better than you think.

I wanted to add to this.

Denver is +30 on their point differential, Dallas is +33. Not too much difference. This is why I had difficulty with 1a / 1b comment. I just think that Dallas actually has a weaker D. Right now the stats won't show it, but SD and NO are both explosive offenses that Denver had to face, Dallas faced GB (whose offense is overrated IMO) and the Phily offense looked amazing vs Dallas, but I feel that was more because the Dallas D is suspect. The Eagles only scored 15 vs the Steelers. So right now, Dallas has to wait another week and see what happens.

This might be one of the worst power polls I have seen. Phily lost to Dallas, nuff said. San Diego is winless and in the top 5??? What's even more hilarious is the fact that they have two losses to teams that are not ahead of them in the polls (carolina and denver). Buffalo is undefeated, and Tampa has not been impressive, but Buff is 4 spots lower???? wow. Also, Tennessee is undefeated, and has THE BEST DEFENSE in the league and doesn't crack the top 10????

Who are you talking to? I am assuming me in regards to Denver and Tennessee, but when you make the comment of Phily ahead of Dallas...I didn't do that. Dallas was my "1b".

Jacksonville is 1-2 and beat only Indy who is apparently in turmoil. The Jags have a -9 point differential, and you have them in the top 10? Maybe later, but not now.
Baltimore is a team I stayed away from for now. They have only played 2 games and have not been impressive IMO. Defense is looking good, but let's wait until they play some decent competition.
I think the 49ers are too high, as they have not played anyone good minus Arizona who they lost to by 10...yet you have them ahead of the Skins who beat Arizona by 7????

All in all, not bad. We just disagree with a few, and while I disagree with your poll, it's not way off...a lot can easily be interchangable.

Sorry JSarno, got two posts mixed up when I responded to yours...GTripp had philly ahaead of dallas.....when I look at your poll, I think that you obviously have many of the best teams up near the top (at least the ones who have played the best so far), but I want to see Denver have a dominating performance to be #1 or even #2 or #3, because if Hoculli had made the right call in week 2, they might not be 3-0.....also, seeing San Diego lay 49 against the Jets screws up my poll....thanks for your response

No problem.
San Diego jumps to 11 on my poll right now. They dominated an average team. They are likely on their way to the top, but right now they are on the outside looking in.
About the blown call, you're right, but "what-ifs" can't be a factor when doing a power poll. Blown call or not, Denver won. Every game has a "questionable" call that could change the outcome. The fact that San Diego "almost" won is the reason they are 11 on my poll.

After a loss to KC are they still gonna be in the top 10? Denver is garbage, can stop the run or pass and you got Jay Cutler playing a poor man's John Elway.
