Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
Just saw it. Wow, and after Vinny said "We can't do it"...talk about smoke screens. Jesus. Are we still trying to get Canty and Dockery then?
|
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
no. 27 mill -> AH and hall take up i'm guess 19mill, the rest is for our RFAs, rookies, and maybe kendal or a 1mill LB, but that's it.
taylor and springs have to go, and we've got no real space for canty (or dock unless he's basically coming back for free). |

Albert Haynesworth to be a Redskin
By Jim Wyatt • February 27, 2009 Albert Haynesworth to be a Redskin | www.tennessean.com | The Tennessean Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth will become a $100 million man with the Washington Redskins on Friday barring any last-minute complications, according to his agent. Advertisement Haynesworth agreed to terms on a 7-year, $100 million deal contract offer from the Redskins on Friday morning when free agency began. He is scheduled to travel to Washington, D.C. on Friday. If everything is approved with the contract and he passes a physical, a press conference should be scheduled for later in the day. The contract includes $41 million in guaranteed money, according to sources familiar with the situation. The base value of the contract could max out at around $115 million. Haynesworth is scheduled to earn $32 million over the first 13 months of the deal. It will make him the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. For Haynesworth, it also officially puts an end to his 7-year career with the Titans. The former University of Tennessee star earned All-Pro honors in his final two seasons with the team, and had a career-high 8.5 sacks in 2008. He was a 1st round draft pick by the Titans back in 2002. The Titans were interested in re-signing Haynesworth, but in the end refused to get into a bidding war with other teams for his services. Agent Chad Speck negotiated the deal, and also talked to a number of other teams, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers also being involved until the end. The Titans final offer was in the $11 million per year range, according to sources, which would have made him the NFL's highest paid defensive tackle. Haynesworth, the team’s franchise player last season, earned free agency by hitting incentives placed in his one-year contract last July. |

Jesus.

Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
If this is true, then its a huge risk, just because (besides the lazy argument), it kills our ability to fix the OL and leaves a hole at DE and LB (and hurts our CB depth).
I don't see anything on ESPN yet... we could still draft orakpo (who i think is going to be a safe and very solid DE) or a top tier OT or whatnot and trade golston for a 2nd for another OL or a LB (and then OL in the 3rd). |
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
That's if Orakpo is still there when we pick. I think his stock is rising.
|
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
It's true it's on redskins.com on the front page ticker. $ 100M, as I said before, I don't like it, HUGE risk when we have many other holes to fill.
It's going to be interesting to see the final terms of both AH & Hall's deals. |

Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
working on numbers now... 32mill is the first year salary and signing bonus, and then 41 - (32 - 1st year salary) in some other guaranteed money. 7 years/100$mill means it'll actually be a bit easier on the 2009 cap then what i originally expected as a straight deal.
I'll need specifics on that non signing bonus guaranteed money to figure out the specifics, but i can assume its not on the 2009 cap and work off that... it just means that the 2010 on numbers could vary a little depending on how exactly that extra guarantee is put in there. (though technically all guaranteed money after the end of cap should count fully in 2009). |
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
I would have liked to seen us go after O Line (J. Saturday possible) and save some of that money.

please enlighten me on how he costs us 7mill and how hall costs us 4mill then. i'll wait. 154mill, 64mill guaranteed, and it only counts 11mill in 2009 as you predicted without any work to show how that fits the current cap and accounting rules and gets passed by the league offices. again, please, let me know what i'm missing :P cause i don't think i'm the one with the weird math here. |

Saturday is old and already re-signed with Indy. I'll await word of the $$ implications from the usual suspects. |
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
any links yet? i'm watching espn and looking and not seeing anything yet.

Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
The Washington Redskins have made the biggest splash on the first day of NFL free agency, signing former Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to a seven-year, $100 million contract.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the deal includes $41 million guaranteed in the first three years, and the maximum value of the deal could be $115 million. According to Schefter, the deal is the richest contract ever given to a player and includes more guaranteed money than any contract in NFL history has ever included. those numbers sound closer to being right. |

Hall-Landry-Horton-Rogers with Smoot as the nickel. You have to love this D! Fletcher will be able to run free sideline to sideline. It also free's up doubles on Taylor or Carter for the most part. But the biggest part is big Al stoping the run and screens up the middle! |
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
ESPN.com, reports the same.
Albert Haynesworth signs 7-year deal with Redskins - ESPN |
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
Vinny was on Mike and Mike ESPN raido to talk about the Big Al Deal! The Dael atrted at 1201 am and was final at 530 am. Haynesworth didn't wanted to get in a bidding war. Still there was six other teams looking at Al and on the phone but in the end he wented with the Skins. Sal Pal and Golic love the move! What I love about big Al is he will keep the other East teams from running up the middle. Haynesworth in the middle of that Titan D averaged less the 100 yards running pergame the last two years! If he can help do that and get a push up the middle that would he worth the cash.
No more Bradon Jacobs running up the middle like last years season opener! Can't wait to see the Skins play the Raiders this fall! |
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
I dont want to encourage stomping on opposing players heads however if his heels slips in a couple of Dallas games I might be looking for my drink at that moment!!!
|
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
I like the signing.
It's my guess that the additional $4mil added to the cap went a long way to assist making this deal possible. Snyder has the money, let him spend it. I just want AH to stay healthy and produce. What I don't epect from him: 16 sacks ad a performance like that guy in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". What I do want, eating up double and triple teams and the men around him making plays and swarming. Be happy. |

It real is run first in the East then pass. Yes the Eagle love to pass but they too would run first if they could. The other thing that Al and Hall should do is shorten the field with turnovers. Give the O more chances! Maybe get some D scores as well! |

Like the guy on NFL Network said last night, Tennessee DB's had 16 picks last year. With AH up front, 'Los might even be able to hold onto a couple. |
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
If we keep Jason Taylor, him and Andre Carter are gonna have a helluva season with teams double teaming big Al.
TODAY IS A GREAT DAY! |

I don't think Taylor will be here. With the AH and Hall signings JT will probably be released along with Springs. I also think we will make some sort of upgrade at LB. Once we get throught he weekend and the dust settles then we'll have a clearer picture. |
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
Our greatest DT has been Dave Butz[75-88] can AH be that good? I remember Butz playing in the day and he tock on two blockers ever play and still was a beast. Love to see AH be that kind of player inside!
|
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
I think it's safe to say right now AH is more dominant than Butz ever was.
|
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
man, this move scares the hell out of me. he had better be the real deal
|
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
I'd like to hear some capologists chime in on this deal. Sounds like a front heavy contract and basically a 3 year deal.

im glad we got Hall and Haynesworth! our defense is set. I hope they both produce great seasons for years. Hail to Snyders Fat pockets!

Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
The Haynesworth jersey is probably selling right now on Redskins.com
I guess Danny knows how to put asses in the in seats. Whether our Offseason Superbowl victory will equate to anything we'll see this year I guess... ...I'm not disappointed but I'm not excited...wierd. |
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
I'm fine with these moves but now we must draft oline at pick 13
|
Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!
Still a little uncertain about how much we'll be able to depend on Haynesworth, but when you think about just from a pure talent level 70% effort and performance out of Haynesworth is probably close to 100% out of Golston.
But this is exactly what Blache wanted, a dominant DT |

But Butz was a high motor guy and you knew what you were getting on every play and was rarely injured. But to your point, when motivated, AH is more talented/dominant. |
I'm fine with these moves but now we must draft oline at pick 13
Unless we can pick up a OL player in free agency or two then go LB in a deep draft at that spot!
