Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
Redskins' Haynesworth critical of teammates after loss
"Urgency, heart, 'want-to,' whatever. I don't know. We're lacking a lot of stuff right now," the defensive tackle said. For the second consecutive home game at FedEx Field, thousands of spectators headed to the exits early. "The fans are losing interest. The more games we play, the fewer fans come. It's getting bad," Haynesworth said. The Redskins are 2-5 despite having opened the season with an NFL-record six consecutive games against winless teams. Washington's two wins were by a combined five points over teams that both are currently 0-7, Tampa Bay and St. Louis. Asked if he delivered a postgame speech in the locker room, Haynesworth replied: "You can say but so much. You've got to actually 'want to.' So once we get to that point -- where we 'want to' do something -- then we'll do something. But if we just keep going our separate ways, then we'll just keep getting slaughtered like we have." Redskins' Haynesworth critical of teammates after loss |
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
I think I understand what AH is getting at with his comments. The Redskins seem like two separate teams to me. He must feel the same way.
First there is the defense, led by Greg Blache off the field and by Haynesworth and Fletcher on the field. Then there is the offense, led by, well, nobody. The defense knows exactly who they are and what they are doing and they play hard from the opening kickoff to the (usually) bitter end. The offense has no identity, changes starters on a weekly basis, makes one critical mistake after another, and just seems to be going through the motions. The defense was tough all the way through to the end against the Eagles. They gave up two big play touchdowns, but 13 of the Eagles 27 points were due to turnovers. They played a very good game overall. The offense quit. Three and out over and over in the 3rd and 4th quarters and they just casually huddled up and strolled up to the LOS to run plays with the clock running down in the fourth quarter. Again, there is no leadership on the offensive side of the ball, on or off the field! Well, it's clear that Jim Zorn and Jason Campbell must go at the end of the season. Neither of them has the passion to lead the offense and, after the way they've both been publicly humiliated by Snyder and Cerrato, I'm not even sure they care enough to lead it anymore. |
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
Yeah the only reason I was excusing Zorn and Campbell at first on the slowness when we needed to be running more of a hurry up was the new playcalling system, then I find out Zorn took over calls during the "hurry up." Sometimes a 2 min drill runs a bit longer than 2 mins and Zorn hasn't figured that out yet, this isn't the first time we've taken our sweet time during huddles and getting to the LOS.

Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
At least AH is ballin'. I still don't understand people who take shots at him (I guess it's easy because of the $$), the guy is clearly a bright spot for the team this year.
|
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
Say what you will about Hanesworth, but the guy has helped that DL out greatly! He's been hurt all year 'round, even been carried off the field and still comes back to play each and every week. AH is playing with heart, can't say that about many of the other players.

Absolutely. He's lived up to (and even surpassed) all reasonable expectations of him. I just hope he doesn't let the "dont give a crap" mindset of our offense wear him down. We need a leader on offense and we need one bad. If Colt hadn't gone to IR, there's no way he wouldnt be starting by now. Not necessarily because he's especially talented, but atleast he's got the attitude. We need a QB who can fire guys up. |
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
He's totally right -- most of our players don't "want it" bad enough. There's no enthusiasm. Aristocrat is right, we desperately need a leader on offense. There have been several occasions this season when I'm about to pull my hair out, and the guys on the field are just nonchalant. Many times I've thought, "Somebody get in his face!" Guys need to get pumped up. Guys need to care. You know, somebody whiffs on a block and we take a sack or somebody false starts to put us in 3rd and long, and nobody cares. Somebody needs to be getting in guys faces and making them feel bad. Don't miss that block! Work harder! Get your head in the game and stop committing penalties! Nobody does that.

It almost seems that the worse the team gets, the more pissed AH gets and the harder he plays. It's as if he's saying, "don't blame me for this mess, I'm earning my check." |
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
I think AH comments were shown on the field when CP throw his helmet in anger on the sidelines... AH was right next to him and did not like this no practice, no off season comfy with the owner player who use to be the face of the offense lose his cool...instead of taking it out on the Iggles!!!! AH has found out that since he makes a big salary off the field you will be ridiculed! So show it and bring it on the field where none of those critics can touch you. CP is no longer the factor back and we need to go to a rotation of runners like the rest of the league. He can still get carries but when the offense depends on him players get comfy with assignments...
Props to AH for showing heart... |

He'll get his hips broken behind this line. "Help, Ive been sacked and I can't get up." |
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
Haynesworth's reaction makes me feel very happy about our signing of him. Yes, it's an absolutely ridiculous amount of money, but the D-Line and defense as a whole is solid this year. Every team gives up a big play or two to someone who can run a 4.2. it happens, and the offense gave how many turnovers, 4? how many within our 30 yrd line? it was so tough to watch last night.
I love Cooley- 100% but the way Davis got involved last night makes me think with Cooley's broken ankle and season over with, we should look to trade Moss, Portis, and Cooley. between the three of them I bet we can acquire a first, second, and third round pick for this upcoming draft. Yoder can block, Davis can catch. We won't resign Campbell, and we'll bring in a newly drafted qb with offensive weapons that are young and can grow together for the next 10 years. We have to that side of the ball up, w/o a doubt. With Haynesworth feeling the lack of anything from his offensive counterparts, it's clear we have a fired up defense that's asking for any bit of help. |
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
The skins had so many chances in the 4th quarter but kept bumbling the ball. With like about 7 minutes they were taking their time lining up etc. they needed to play with a sense of urgency which they weren't. Like I said before, maybe Haynesworth needs to bitch slap all our OL into getting some balls and battling it out for a whole game.
|
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
Sure let's bring in Jeff Garcia. That should help a little. JC SUX! Badly. The offense as a whole is really really really bad. No leaderson offense.
Big ups to AH he and the defensive line as a whole is playing good smash mouth football. Maybe we should have those guys play on the OLINE? Haha |
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
You don't trade 2 all pro receivers because your o-line and QB sucks. Snyder would be stupid to trade Moss and Cooley.
|
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
I would not say the O played like they did not want to win I'd say we had to many turn overs giving the Eagles to many easy points.
|

"Help, Ive been sacked and I can't get up."
I wonder if the same thing is said about Bret Farve. His plus out weight his age for me |
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
AH is spot on here. The main problem with the team is that they have no heart, no fire, no desire, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
With the proper attitude we could overcome some things like JC's happy feet, center snaps to no one, etc. But we lack attitude so we do not overcome adversity. I hope that the next administration eliminates any and all slackers with poor attitudes. No sacred cows. We need a total attitude makeover. |

You do when you have a promising starter in the wings (Davis), and you need 3/5 of a new offensive line and a new starting qb. too many holes not to entertain trades for picks, especially with the high probability of an uncapped year and little future free agency acquisitions |
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
I think when Al says, "we", he means the offense.
|
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
Mr. Haynesworth please shut up. Granted when he's got his breath and is at full strength he is a monster in the middle. The defense must be getting very sick of watching this high school offense. I know he's angry at the offense. But I just hate it when players are calling out teammates to the media.... and in an indirect kind of way that's what he's doing. Keep that shit in house.

If the Skins were even a half assed team, I'd agree with you. But they aren't. They blow balls. The defense has been humiliated by these little nancies. I say call them out by name. I say let AH stick his foot up Portis' and Moss' ass. Portis has no problems talking shit about everyone else. Let him talk his way out of an AH ass whooping. |
Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
Carter's sack total speaks volumes about Albert's value- not only his he a monster, but he makes everyone else better. The only knock i agree with is that he needs to be in better shape (to play more plays) otherwise, the man is dominant.

Just like Vinny and Danny Boy are "tight", so are CP and Danny Boy... That is why Portis doesn't have to do all the drills in camp and actually complained when Zorn actually wanted him to play in exhibition games with a new offense last year. What other player or coach could get away with calling out the coaching staff, bitch about the offensive game plans, complain about the quality of his OL and say how much better he would do if those guys were competent, gett into a pissing match with his blocking fullback and etc with no consequences? On any other team, a player doing that would have to be a first ballot Hall of Fame caliber player. Here all he has to be is Danny Boy's pal... |

Re: Haynesworth says that we don't "want it"
To those who question Haynesworth stamina and say he's "always" out of breath and on the bench, note these stats regarding playing time of various players vs. the eagles:
Playing time vs. Eagles (corrected) - Redskins 360 - Washington Times
Here are the unofficial playing time totals for the Redskins against Philadelphia (includes plays negated by penalties, but not pre-snap penalties like false start and delay of game). DEFENSE (58 snaps) DL: Kedric Golston 34, Lorenzo Alexander 9, Jeremy Jarmon 17, Albert Haynesworth 42, Phillip Daniels 18, Cornelius Griffin 30, Andre Carter 56. LB: London Fletcher 58, Rocky McIntosh 50, Brian Orakpo 52, Chris Wilson 5. DB: LaRon Landry 58, Carlos Rogers 58, DeAngelo Hall 58, Justin Tryon 27, Fred Smoot 8, Reed Doughty 9, Chris Horton 49.
-Haynesworth played in 42 of 58 (72.4%) of the defenisve snaps vs. the Eagles. -By comparison, Cornelius Griffen was only on the field for 30 snaps (51.7%) -The only Defensive lineman on the field more than Haynesworth was Andre Carter. -Haynesworth weighs 350lbs, Griffin weighs 303, andCarter weighs 253. Now, I don't know Big Albert's average % of defensive snaps played over the course of the year, but its most certainly more than he ever played in Tennessee. As big and heavy as he is, its truly impressive - and a testament to his "heart," - that he is playing as many snaps as he is. Haynesworth definitely "wants it." Now, our organization has other problems besides its players' attitudes, but i can't help thinking that if the other 53 players on the roster "wanted it" as bad as Haynesworth, we wouldnt be 2-5 right now. |

So how long would it take for your newly acquired receivers to accumulate a 1,500 yard season, or make multiple pro-bowls? You can't replace talent of that caliber and expect the same level of production. If Moss were to go to any team in our division he would return to being the superstar he always was. Cooley is the best TE in NFL IMO so he wouldn't go anywhere. If those two were old, and at the end of their careers I'd agree. But both of them still have a lot of Football in them. And we can use all the playmakers we can attain. We just need someone who can "give them the damn ball". |
