Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Today's the first day of the NFL Draft.
The draft actually begins at 11 a.m. CT, in Norman, Okla. That's when rehabbing Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford takes the field to throw the 50-pass script that the NFL world -- particularly St. Louis, picking first in the April 22 first round, and Washington, picking fourth -- has been awaiting. The Rams will have an unusually high six club reps there, including coach Steve Spagnuolo and GM Billy Devaney. You're probably right. Rams GM Devaney may be playing " You Bet Your Job" with this pick. After the Rams passed on Ryan and Sanchez in the last two drafts, if Devaney picks someone else or trades out of the #1 spot and Bradford becomes a star on another NFL team, then Devaney could be fired. |
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
Bradford's killing it, completed his first 30 throws, one or two ducks but otherwise he's been really sharp
|
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
Bradford finishes 50 for 50 with some nice deep outs. That beats Snead's 46-50
Ram Bradford |
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
he looked pretty damn good. he really aired out a couple at the end. i have to agree with smootsmack, looks like bradford will be a ram.

Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
i am almost positive the first coach to walk up to him after the drills were over was spagnuolo. i am pretty sure it was spags, i could only see the back of his head, but he was wearing rams colors.
|
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
Yeah it was Spags
|
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
Of course. Had to have a wonderful pro day. Man so glad we beat the Rams this year.
|
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
Oh well...I was hoping he would look just okay so he would fall to #4.
|
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
The Rams will most likely pick him up at #1. However, they have to show that they are interested. They have to convince other teams that they are going to pick him up to raise offers from other teams. They'll be other teams who want SB that might be willing to trade for that #1. So even if the Rams weren't interested. They have to show that they are. All teams play the smokescreen game.
|
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
Look the Rams had 9 people at his pro day. Who knows how many the Skins had, but of course the Rams are going to run up to him and talk with him with the first pick.
But..... don't count your chickens before they hatch. Most likely you all are correct in saying he will be a Ram. Just keep in mind though it doesn't leave out the possibility of a team moving up to get him. All that matters is the price is right for the Rams. We act like we have to have him and the Rams jack up the price to see what we will give them. It's obvious the Rams are either really interested or playing the game in order to see who will call them with a trade offer to get Bradford. As much as I keep hoping the Skins pick up Bradford due to his accuracy, I think he looks like a goof ball. But so did Eli Manning. |
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
Skins aren't trading up to #1.
With today's showing I think it's pretty safe to say Bradford is going to be a Ram. |
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
Well, I mean, you can't trade up ahead of the Rams, so you'd have to either make them an offer they can't refuse (and I really mean an obvious headscratcher), or you just have to call their bluff.
I personally feel that Bradford is going to benefit greatly from going to one of the weakest divisions, where his contributions can be felt immediately. Whether he ultimately succeeds as a player depends on how well the Rams put talent around him. But they've got a decent foundation there. |

Me too. |
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
I am willing to give them Andre Carter, Jason Campbell, and this years and next years first round draft choice.
If that is not enough throw in this years second |
I am willing to give them Andre Carter, Jason Campbell, and this years and next years first round draft choice.
Probably doesn't get it done, unless they are just lukewarm on the Bradford/Suh/McCoy options.
That's a trade we could win, but only if Bradford ended up being the next coming. I'm on record saying that he's no ones savior. |

If that is not enough throw in this years second
are you kidding me? who would block for him? in your scenario, we take him, and then wait until the 4th to draft again? no thanks. |
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
If that is not enough throw in this years second
That would get it done...but now you don't have a team.
I mean, in a world where the only things that matter are Sam Bradford jersey sales, you've done well for yourself. In a world where wins and losses matter, you've ensured about four or so additional losses, even if Bradford pans out. |

If he is the next superstar QB, I would give the entire Draft this year and next. |

WOW. I feel much better knowing that people were simply saying I had a man crush and needed to get over it. :) I like Bradford and I too belive we need to find a way to pick him up. Simply due to his accuracy. But I don't think I'd give up the farm for him. I'd like to think giving JC helps out the Rams QB issue, giving them Carter helps out their D-line, Giving them the #4 pick either enables them to pick up Clausen, McCoy, or Tebow at #4 or a lineman they need either defense or offense. I might even throw in next years 1st rounder but no way do I throw in our #2 or any more of this yrs draft to get him. The numbers as some of you like to point out would not match. Although what price do you put on a franchise QB? One media outlet pointed out that he was the best QB they have seen since Troy Aikman. I wasn't fascinated with him but will say he wasn't a bad QB for a Cowgirl. |
Next years free agent class will be off the hook. If he is the next superstar QB, I would give the entire Draft this year and next.
Which, again, is good for only jersey sales, and the Cowboys/Eagles/Giants who get two more pushover wins on their schedule.
And then, ultimately, he's not the next superstar QB, if for no other reason than you traded the house for him. Remember Ricky Williams, superstar Saints running back who would lead them to a super bowl by himself. |
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
It really was a treat to watch, and I think everyone here was in awe of Bradford’s performance. In fact, he put on the best quarterback workout by a draft prospect that I’ve seen since I watched a private workout Troy Aikman put on for us with the Cowboys in California.

WOW. I feel much better knowing that people were simply saying I had a man crush and needed to get over it. :)
You have a man crush and need to get over it. Especially since it's hard to be a fan of the Redskins while rooting for Sam Bradford of the Rams to vindicate you.
There's still a chance Bradford could be available at No. 4. It's not a good chance, and it's not even really a good value, but it's not unreasonable to hope he falls. It's just unlikely. |
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
I am convinced that T.O Killa is Mike Ditka in disguise. No way in the world would I give up that much to get one player.

Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
RT@AdamSchter Interesting point by ESPN draft guru Todd McShay: The difference between QB Sam Bradford going No. 1 or No. 4 is roughly $15 million.

T.O.killa realizes that Redskins have not had a QB, since Thiesman. |

That is an interesting comment, however there have been two Washington Redskins QB's since Thiesman who may not have been the greatest in the world, but have won a Superbowl. I am also reminded that one of the best QB's in history (Dan Marino) never won a Superbowl. I understand that this is a Quarterback driven league and you need a good QB to win a suberbowl, but you do not need a legend. Hell, Eli Manning has a Superbowl Ring. I think that we have 2 QB's on our roster that are good enough to win it as long as the team around them is good enough to get us there. |

Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
I have believed for two years that he is the best prospect since Peyton Manning.
It isn't even a question. Package players and move up to get him. Carter, either TE, Landry....whoever they need. |
Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft
Gil Brandt said it's the best workout he's seen since Aikman... wow.
Mayock is also gushing saying it's the best workout he's seen in 6 years. |
