Big Ben off the hook again.

Looks like Ben wont face any charges. What do you think?

Big Ben needs to start making better choices about the situations that he puts himself in. More bad than good can happen to a young millionaire athlete out and about at 2:00 AM.

Re: Big Ben off the hook again.

I agree he needs to stop being a dumbass and putting himself in situations involving booze and women because his luck sucks when the 2 are combined. I'd be interested to see if more about this case comes to light and what involved was considered sexual assault because whenever anyone hears "sexual assault" they think rape, but it's more likely a forced kiss or aggressive groping if I understand the terminology correctly. Not excusing his actions, but there's an insanely huge difference between the 2.

But wasn't just weird how the video was erased and he never went back to speak to the cops again. I see it as money being spread around. I just beleave there is alot missing they are saying the girls blood alc. level was high, but who was buying the drinks and what caused her head to get banged up. I think this guy is guilty and his celebrity is his get out of jail free card.

Ben Rapelisburger strikes again! Of course the video was erased by accident right? yeah...we'll all assume that. i'm sure a few dollars was exchanged to make this go bye bye.

Proof, who needs proof to convict people on the internet or in the media. That's just a silly little detail for the attorneys to fight over.

The proof was erased. Also at first Ben and his entourage claimed Ben didn't drink at all, but there are people stating diffrent, even the officer who took his statement said he seemed tipsy.

So you saw the video that was erased? And last I checked being tipsy is a far cry from sexual assault. But hey, I am sure that the District attorney, and the investigators all have no clue how to conduct and differentiate.

Seriously, I have no clue what Big Ben did or didn't do. If he was guilty and got away with it, he is a lucky man(to which his fame and money certainly contributed). If he was innocent, and got this smear campaign(to which his fame and money also certainly contributed) then that's a lousy thing.

Let the lambasting continue.

People like to see celebritites go down...but I for one feel that this is true. I mean Micheal Jackson was never accused of molesting children...but most would tend to agree that he was a very wierd individual and *probably* did it.

This being the 2nd time he has been accused...and not the first time that he has done something stupid...like wreck a motorcycle on the freeway going what...85mph?

Or I just like to call him Ben Rapelesberger b/c I hate The Steelers...and their bandwagon fans in my town that swear up and down that they have been fans their whole lives...but just a few years ago...they were the biggest Patriots fans ever.

What I mean he and others said, he didn't drink at all that night wich seems to me to be a lie.

The whole video being deleted before any one else could get a chance to watch it doesn't feel right.

If he gets away with it thats fine for him, but if truly treats women like that it will happen again. If it does, hopefully he gets what he deserves. If he is truly innocent why didnt he hold a press confrence like last year.

Come on now, money is the bottom line in our society, and if there is a lot of money to be made off a performer, whether it be in film, stage, music, or sports, that person will get off when the "grease" is applied the right way. Look at Robert Downey JR. That guy got nailed time and time again for coke and look at him now Iron Man himself. IF there is a ton of $ to be made off your ass you can do anything.

Crashing a motorcycle has nothing to do with this. There can be 200 accusations, I wanna see proof that she was even sexuality assaulted before I say he's guilty.

Agree'd that it has nothing to do with the rape allegation. But it still brings up the question that his judgement is below par.

And you really think that if he was accused 200 times...you wouldn't even once think that he did do something wrong?

And...you don't think it's at all shady...that the video evidence was destroyed? Not a single bit?

But I will tell you a FACT...if he were a regular human being...living on a normal salary right now...he'd be behind bars...same with Dante Stallworth. NFL players...and celebrities...are always given a free card...and it's ridiculous.

what about plax? and vick? there are cases were people get off but there are plenty where they don't, there are so many factors that go into a sentencing to just say all celeberties get off and average joes don't is a bit ridiculous

Yep -- they're frontrunners like no other. From 1980-1995 you couldn't find a Steelers fan anywhere outside Pittsburgh. Now they're everywhere.

i disagree. there is just any evidence to move forward. i assume that the girl didn't have any injuries consistent with a sexual assult. it's probably a situation where foreplay went too far and she might of slipped and fell down and hit her head. ben r. is a total fool and imo should get sat down by the commish.

I am not certain, but does this topic have anything at all to do with the Redskins? Doesn't this thread belong in a Pittsburgh Steelers forum or in a general NFL topic forum?

I was just wondering why this thread continues to grow longer and longer as we near the Redskins draft.

probably because this is a major story line for the nfl right now. and while this is a redskins message board we don't ignore the rest of the nfl

I just wish that they would be fair to all technically Pacman only had allegations against him and was suspended. If Goodell is ruling with an iron fist I expect everyone to be treated equally. Curious to see if Shaun Rogers gets suspended and for how long.

Free card not always and with Pacman, he had been arrested 10 times prior to being suspended and if he had been accused 200 times when I see proof of sexual assault i.e. torn clothes, cuts defensive wounds etc. then I will take notice. If I had 200 different people tell you I was an astronaut, you'd stll want to see me blast into space before you believed me.

I think there are going to be a lot of conspiracy theories about the law enforcement and Steelers organization if/when #3 comes to light.

I hope he learns from this (again) but he just doesn't seem like the type of person who learns anything from mistakes. He's put himself in bad situations over and over and over since he's become a pro football player.

Maybe that wreck did do some brain damage.

I guess now we'll see whether the Steelers live up to their reputation and take some type of disciplinary action against Big Ben. Goodell has definitely taken action before without waiting for some type of conviction.

From Mort's Tweet:

DA provided lot of detail; just said on SC I believe Goodell was still disgusted by what he heard, as are Rooneys.

I wonder if Campbell was waiting to sign his tender until finding out whether or not Big Ben would be charged. If he had been, Pittsburg would have been an ideal trade destination for Campbell.

he still should get suspended at least 4 games

Re: Big Ben off the hook again.

hi, welcome to the warpath. i dont think ben was ever accused or raping this person. who knows what he did, but the general consensus here is that he's a scumbag. that said, if he did commit a crime here, i would have hoped the victim would insist on a criminal trial and THEN sue Rothlesberger in a civil trial to collect financial compensation for damages. I'm very suspicious when things like this are privately settled outside of the judicial system. If Rothlesberger committed a crime, then avoiding a trial and privately settling the matter would only say the victim cared more about getting paid than seeing Rothlesberger punished and sent to jail so he couldnt hurt anyone else. On the flip side, if i were accused of something I didn't do, i'd want to go to trial to be vindicated. Basically, this whole things stinks.

first, lots of rape victims don't want to go through with prosecutions regardless of $$$$

second, he wasn't accused of rape.

third, you are right he probably will get suspended, at least for 1 game, maybe more, either by the league or by the team.

From ESPN's report:
What happened in that bathroom is unclear, Bright said. A doctor who examined the woman could not say if she was raped, and while some DNA was found, there was not enough to determine whom it belonged to.

"We are not condoning Mr. Roethlisberger's actions that night," Bright said. "But we do not prosecute morals. We prosecute crimes."
...
"I know when I have a case and I know when I don't," Bright said. "And I do not have enough evidence to convince 12 jurors beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Roethlisberger was guilty of rape."
Any way, let's see how Goodell and the Rooneys deal with it now. Wish they would give us a 3 or 4 for JC.
