Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
I personally dont like this..it seems to me to be a PR marketing ploy.
Even if the intent is good, I think it could easily offend some. I say let Taylor rest in peace. I dont like the idea of parading his locker around like some sort of shrine...not cool. |
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
Yeah, the club level is too public for his locker to be, they should keep it at the park.

Yeah I agree. I'd like his memory to live on, but this seems like a type of marketing thing to me, which I hate. He's in the ring of honor, so his memroy is living on at Fed Ex and through the fans. I think they should leave it at the park. |

I thought I'd be all alone on my opinion that I think this is uncool....good to see I have some company

Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
I'm fine with it.
Sometimes people need to be reminded of the loss of someone with so much promise to senseless violence. If just one person who might otherwise get involved in something they'll regret sees this and it has an impact, it will have been worth it. |
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
I think its great. I know when I finally get to make a home game, I would love to see his locker. Millions of people have been to Graceland. When you truly miss and love something you want to remember it. I beleave it is out of respect to him and the fans. I know I watched about 30min of youtube videos on him after reading the article and it made me feel good and sad at the same time.HTTR

Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
Why would anyone want to be intested in his locker? I agree with the majority that this is a maketing ploy and is in poor taste.

The same reason you would buy his jersey. |
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
Are they charging extra for people to go see it? Am I missing something here?

Club A Tower is the location it will be placed. I'm not familiar on the workings of the staduim and where you can go with a regular ticket. |
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
I think it's time for the team to move on in the locker room, I've got no problem with this at all.
If they had moved the locker right away that would have been tasteless, but it's been 3 years now. The organization has handled the whole ST tragedy with class and respect. I don't see how that's changed by letting the public view the locker, and letting the team move on. |
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
Hrmmm.. I'm not a big fan, but I'm sure that the new FO isn't as tied to it as we are. I guess it's better to be on display than just sitting in some storage closet or in Danny's office. Moss and Portis were fine though so no reason for me to be upset.

The difference between Ticket A and Club Level I suppose. |

Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
I think that is in poor taste. Why don't they leave the locker at Skins' park and if they need the space just move it somewhere within the building. They do not need to parade this around FedEx.
|
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
Not sure how much good it will do but I feel compelled to write the organization about this. I wonder if they approached his family about this?

Mr. Irrelevant, a D.C. Sports Blog by the Brothers Mottram
I don't see where it says people will be charged extra to see the locker. The Redskins have done and continue to do so much for Taylor's family. It will be a shame if that's all forgotten because of this |
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
while i somewhat understand putting it on the club level to reduce traffic i think it should remain where it belongs in the locker room. if the want a tribute to sean at fedex they should create a new one there, with game woirn jerseys, and other gear, photos and quotes from fans broadcasters and fellow players. i really don't think this is an attemp to drum up money by placing it on the club level, but i do think moving the locker is a bit much.
and i don't think anyone will forget what the redskins have done and continue to do for his family, that is one thing snyder has handeled very well over the past few years imo, i'm just not a fan of this move |
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
I think that, even thought they won't publicly say it, the players were ready for the locker to be moved out of the locker room. After a while, it's just too much to handle to see that everyday I'm sure.
|
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
yeah i hear you but i just tyhink it should stay there doesn't have to be in the locker room but some where at the park, i just don't think it needs to be placed at fedex, i don't know why it just doesn't seem like it belongs there

The Redskins have done and continue to do so much for Taylor's family. It will be a shame if that's all forgotten because of this
If you have "cheap" seats during a game and you want to see the locker, you would have to upgrade "charged extra" to club seats in order to do that. I'm not at all denying what the Skins have done for the Taylor's. I'm just saying that the majority of the fans wont have full access to the locker without paying to see it. |

True. Plus we are trying to instill an "it's a new era" locker room culture. |

Well, there are vacancies at the club level. Premium Seat Sales department at clubinfo@redskins.com 301-276-6800 Call and see for yourself. Owner’s Club - East and West The Owner’s Club is an area located on the second floor of the Sprint Gate (Gate A) side of the building. Sections numbered in the 100’s and 200’s can be accessed directly from the Main Concourse. You think what you want... DSnyder is a PR expert. He handled the Taylors the way the fans and the players demanded. I don't doubt the players want the locker out of the locker room. I would too. Its not the way to move on. But DS is a business man. Club level priveledges include: great veiw of game, suites, martini bar, Blody Mary Bar, Cigar bar, lots of comps, Pre-game shows, NFL highlights and early or late games on one of many flat screen TVs. Internet Cafes, Guests with a ticket for the Club Level, Field Club, Loge, Suites, or Owner’s Club may enjoy the Club Level amenities at any time during the event. And now the addition of... Taylor's locker. End of story! |
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
Ok, well we're just not going to agree at all on this then. Club level priviliges isn't something that Snyder invented. It's common throughout the NFL, throughout all sports in fact. People that pay for those level of seats are going to get more amenities. It's like flying First Class.
But it's not like they're parading his locker around on a world tour and saying "Come see Sean Taylor's locker for only $25!" Anyway, let's just agree to disagree here. |

Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
I guess it wouldn't be the Redskins if there wasn't something to bitch about in regard to Snyder.
|
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
I have tickets but they are not club level seats so i won't get to see the locker but I still think this is fine. I don't believe the Redskins are trying to use this to get more people to sign up for club seats i just think that level made the most sense for where to place it. The club level is completely closed in I believe which will keep it from the weather. The ground level GA area is very dirty and crowded on game days and does not make a very ideal place to preserve and display this locker. The only other place in the general admission areas I can think of to display it would be in the Redskins store but then the same people would be complaining that they put it there to drum up business.
|
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
Skins are in a no-win here to a degree. If they placed it on the ground level some would have seen that as disrespectful I'm sure.
|
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
I think if you put in on the ground level it could create a log jam with folks sopping to see it, just look at the escalators ten minutes before kick off. It is horrible! Plus the club level is a much nicer area to display something like that and less likely to be vandalized.

No doubt.. and what Smoot said about some players probably ready for the move, that's probably true. I think it was Moss that says he always stands there and looks at it, I mean that can kind of bring you down, you don't want to think of the death of a best friend right before a game. The only place other than club level that I could see them putting it appropriately would've been in the HOF store. |

off topic: that avatar is crazy, it would be cool to have other players like that even a new helmet or our logo great job on that. |
Re: Redskins Blog: Sean Taylor's Locker To Be Moved To FedExField (Club level)
I know we can all agree that Sean left us with great memories. For me it was against Dallas. Some of us think its promotional and disrespectful, some think its out of honor and respect. But we can all agree that he will always be apart of the Redskins orginazation. The reason we all differ on our feelings on this subject is because the way he played the game. He played with passion and intensity and thats how we feel about his memory passionate and intense, I just hope none of us lose that when we remember Sean.

Why not just give the locker and it's contents to his family and let them do with what they wish, then put up a tribute wall with art work and such for all to see. |
