OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
WHAT REDSKINS NEED TO WIN DIVISION!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eagles 7-4 (2-1 Division) Texans,@Cowboys,@Giants,Vikings,Cowboys Giants 7-4 (1-2 Division) Redskins,@Vikings,Eagles,@Packers,@Redskins Redskins 5-6 (2-1 Division) @Giants,Bucs,@Cowboys,@Jags,Giants Cowboys 3-8 (1-2 Division) @Colts.Eagles,Redskins,@Cardinals,@Eagles The Redskins can still win the Division at 10-6...9-7...or even 8-8 by the numbers We need the Eagles and Giants to win no more, than 3 more games to have a shot. For the Redskins to get a 6th seed, they would need the Packers and Bucs to end the season with the same record as Redskins or worse. (Redskins beat Bucs) Be it 10-6,9-7 or even 8-8. and be behind the NFC East Divisional winner in 2nd place. They would then own the tiebreakers and get the very last spot. Redskins actually have a better shot now winning the Division, than getting a wildcard. |

Playoffs? PLAYOFFS??? You want to talk about PLAYOFFS?? We can't do diddly poo on either side of the ball.

If we can win 4 games in a row with Todd Collins,we can do the same with McNabb. At least that's how I feel. We can do what no NFC east team has done this season...beat the Titans. We do that and were back at 5-5 |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
Sigh, why can't anyone just take it a week at a time here.

I have been since before the lions game Smoot... It hasn't worked out too well for us buddy.. Going back to my "Hope for the future" scenarios but completely bypassing the 3-game outlooks and diving right in it... We need to change up something..lol |

Seriously. If there's one thing being a Redskins fan has taught he, it's that expectations are simply premeditated resentments. Just go into each week hoping to find a win. Playoff speculations at this point are pretty funny IMO. It would be different if this team were showing any glimpses of getting better. And Ace, McNabb has thrown 11 picks in his last 8 games. I'd almost rather Collins at this point (sarcasm, but still). |

don't the emoticons make it cool!!!:pimp:
I suggest that you go back the 80s, because that's when such an attitude was justified. We were top dogs, not we just think we're the shits because we make every game 50/50. After all, it's obvious that no team has a probability of 1 that they'll win a games, but anything over 60% for this team is for the delusional fellas like yourself. |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
Can we all call for a:grouphug: The Skins got crushed, we aren't who some of us thought we were. All in all, I just want to lighten the mood a little.
After Monday, no one in their right mind can think of this team as any more than a low grade playoff entry at best, and a top 10 pick team at worst. We all are Skins fans regardless of if we lean more toward the koolaid or real. |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
We just surrendered an NFL record of most points scored by a visiting team in the first half of a game. Not really ready to review playoff scenarios. I'm kinda just hoping we don't get embarrased Sunday.

That was my exact first thought when I saw this thread title. We're 4-5 and just coming off getting blown out 59-28, and you want to talk about playoffs? It might be nice to be that optimistic Ace, but you really gotta hold your breath on this one. Let's take things one week at a time, we gotta see major improvement on both sides of the ball before playoffs even come into the conversation. |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
Ace - we got some old goats on here who have seen and witnessed alot of trial and tribulation as skins fan. i cant speak for them but for myself, keep up the optimism and enthusiam buddy! this old goat appreciates a kick in the ass sometimes.

To get to the playoffs, I expected more from the defense. Of course I expected more from the offense, too! When do we start getting it?

I would say something negative about this thread, but last time I got on ace's post, CRR got all over my ass. I think CRedskinsRule is ace's big brother or something. ;) Actually what the heck... we're going to the playoff's. YOUR DREAMING!!!!! well maybe....

Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
I know I am new to this site, but I have been a redskins fan for going on 30 years.
I am not in any means taking sides on the back and forth banter going on, just adding my opinion. To THINK about playoffs is good, to TALK about the playoffs makes you LOOK like you are looking at the world of the NFL through magical glasses. Now I would LOVE to see the skins win out and make the playoffs, and yes we would need some help to get in, but BEFORE we worry about what help we will need, we first HAVE to win. I don't care if the rest of the NFC lost the rest of their games (which I know isn't possible because Divisional and Conference games) we still wouldn't make the playoffs if WE don't win. Lets worry about one win at a time |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
The West is putrid, 8-8 could win it. The North is weak this year, only GB has a chance. Only the NFC South looks good...on paper. TB is outplaying their talent. NO is not what they were.
There COULD be 3 NFC East playoff teams again and we know Dallas won't be one. Still hope! Not a lot, but we're far from dead. The second-half schedule looks a LOT easier than the first half with Indy, GB, Houston, etc. A little early to start the playoff scenarios and who needs to lose to help us...but it was going to happen anyways. I'll watch it. Realistically, I think we'll finish 8-8 and that's a big step forward from last season and a successful first-year of a massive transition. Still pulling for a playoff run though. We've run off 5 in a row to make the postseason before...with less talent on the roster than now. |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
Lots of reasons why we could have lost as bad as we did the other night...
Didn't prepare well enough during bye distraction of the Mcnabb benching festering for 2 weeks Mcnabb contract extension and so on... Everything has settled down I hope with all of this. If we can come out and play hard against the titans, who themselves got beat good by Miami... We have a shot to do what no NFC East team has done this year and that's beat them This gets us back to 5-5 with Minny at home next whom themselves have a locker room situation of their own... Then the biggie at the *new* meadowlands afterwords... This team needs one of those infamous "team meetings",so hopefully they can get back on track. One thing we do know...the Eagles or Giants are going to have 4 losses this weekend. We can do this... |

11 Sun, Nov 21 Tennessee Titans @ Tennessee (5-4) 1:00 pm EST
12 Sun, Nov 28 Minnesota Vikings vs Minnesota (3-6) 1:00 pm EST 13 Sun, Dec 5 New York Giants @ NY Giants (6-3) 1:00 pm EST 14 Sun, Dec 12 Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Tampa Bay (6-3) 1:00 pm 15 Sun, Dec 19 Dallas Cowboys @ Dallas (2-7) 1:00 pm EST 16 Sun, Dec 26 Jacksonville Jaguars @ Jacksonville (5-4) 1:00 pm EST 17 Sun, Jan 2 New York Giants vs NY Giants (6-3) 1:00 pm EST Minnesota, Dallas and Jacksonville SHOULD be wins. We should split the Giants. Tampa Bay is not as good as their record. Tennessee this week is a winnable game. These remaining games are all winnable, none of the games scare me like a few in the first half, but realistically we'll probably drop one of the Giants games. The Titans are the best remaining team, I don't buy into the Bucs. We CAN do it...we just need to get things going fast. |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
Bears win. Not good
They now have 7 wins... Our best hope now,is for Minny to beat Green Bay Sunday and drop them to 6-4 now. We now will probably need Green Bay to tank to have a real shot fellows. But then this means we MUST beat Minny to keep them out next week. (as well as this titans game) It can be done...keep the faith. I'll update this thread at the top,to keep us updated! Lets beat those Titans 1st |
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
After losing two straight games, [the latter of which we had two weeks to prepare for] and still didn't show up, I'd be content just to win a game. Reality has a way of putting optimism in perspective and right now, reality has demonstrated we are not a very good football team. I agree with SS, one game at a time and forget the hypotheticals.
|
Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
I just don't see it happening ACE, 8-8 is more likely for us. Bears have a tough sched coming up but their 7-3. Green Bay is too good not to finish 10-6 or better. Falcons and saints will get in and unfortunately one of those west teams will make it at 8-8 probably. Eagles will win the East and NY will finish 9-7 at worst. Heck even TB has 6 wins. I'm a homer but I'm a realist also, we won't make the playoffs. D is horrible and our offense is still too inconsistent .

Oh I agree...it isn't looking too good. My only hope is we find a way to play better on offense and our defense against the eagles was just an anomaly. If our O-line can give Mcnabb enough time to make the big throws downfield,we might have a shot. We certainly have a good running game and with Williams and ATV are pretty good. Plus we will be getting Portis back who is a great blocker. But regardless of how good or bad anybody thinks our defense is...if we don't score points,we ain't gonna do it. and we MUST improve our 3rd down % We scored 28 points against the eagles and were like 0-12 or something like that on 3rd down in that game... Imagine how good the offense could be if we converted? I will say this though...we are a hell of a lot more exciting now with Mcnabb. We just need to pull it all together. |

Re: OK..BYE's are over: Time to keep track of our Playoff hopes thread
What's bothered me about shanahan (don't mean to get off topic)
is not the play calling from kyle/or him...but the personel decisions he's made. He originally cut Banks...yet,we got him back, but anyone could have claimed him off waivers and he'd be gone. I wouldn't be as critical about this, had banks not shown Crazy speed during the preseason, which the team desperately lacks already. (did the same with ATV as well) Roydell Williams and Galloway have been terrible. Moss wouldn't have been an upgrade? Hell,I would be ok with keeping D.Thomas over these 2 guys...At least he's young with good talent and bat route running. Then there's the benching of mcnabb Hayesworth situation The little use of the talent at TE. Does he know that Cooley is a probowler and Davis is very talented? Why doesn't he use these guy's in the red zone? How about putting these 2 in on 3rd down since were 0-279 on 3rd down...lol I'm sure there are others, but this has me very confused... |
