Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Packers v. Falcons -- really good game

I can't believe that game won't be televised. Why hasn't Monday night FB taken on the position of a flexible schedule to eliminate a crappy matchup of less than .500 teams like the 49ers and cardinals? |
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
According to Ed werder, Brett Favre is " far less than 100%" from being sick all week. Who knows with him anymore..

Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Yeah, GB/ATL will be good. I'd like to see how TB does against Baltimore but I expect Baltimore to the tempo and leave them behind. Chargers/Colts.
Basically not much of a football sunday. For the Skins to make the playoffs just hoping we see wins from GB, denver, chicago, and balto. |
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Jax - Giants could be interesting. Iggles - Bears will be interesting.
|
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Favre might have pneumonia from what I hear. If he wants to start, I won't complain lol. I think his best course of action might be taking a seat on this one but we all know it'd take two broken legs before Favre wouldn't play, and even that might not stop him.

Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Giants just sealed it, too. Damn. We're done.
Side note- Matt Ryan is 19-1 at home as a starter. That's badass right there. |

Well this was before the the loss to the Vikes. Now we're just done with that loss. |
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Peyton Hillis beasted again. Thank goodness I saw his talent from a 2008 game long before he became the toast of Cleveland.
|
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Cutler is playing the best I've ever seen him play
|
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
So Cutler is having his best game ever as a Bear and there taking it to the Eagles. The NFL this year makes no sense...crazy
|
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Dwayne Bowe has become a true stud
|
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Man, two dropped balls by the Colts' receivers. Throw on top of that two picks thrown by Manning...not a good combination for Indy.

SD owns IND for some reason. Rivers will be the MVP this year |
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
My SB pick of the Falcons isn't looking too bad right now, I've been really impressed with how the team has grown since the Petrino disaster
Weiss has done a nice job with Matt Cassel in KC, glad I drafted him in one of my leagues. He's been a nice player Freaking Suisham! And how about Steve Johnson's post game comments? Woah! Highlight of the day though was Andre Johnson doing to Cortland Finnegan what a lot of guys have wanted to do |

Still a chance AJ and CF fight was pretty funny actually, What did Steve Johnson say? I saw him drop that TD.. |
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Huge non-call on that pick-6 against the Colts. That was pass interference.
|
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
That was a pretty great fight between AJ and CF. I like Finnegan as a db but I know I'm not the only one who doesn't like his mouth. If your team is getting trashed 17-0 then you need to stfu by the way. I don't think Johnson should even apologize for what he did. If there is one guy in this league who everybody knows is one of the nicest guys out there it's AJ.

Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Can someone explain why Josh McDaniels still has a job? More spying, Brady Quinn for Peyton Hillis?? Tim Tebow??? No Culter and Marshall?? losing to the Rams at home and getting crushed by the Raiders??
|
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
He has a patient owner, and a built in need for 1 more year with Tebow. The pressure will be immense next year for Tebow to become a superstar and McD to prove himself.
That said, the Broncos fanbase is definitely unaccustomed to any thing near this type of losing streak, and while they don't like it, their owner has a lot of earned goodwill, so they aren't riding his back quite as much as we did last year. |
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
I am still scratching my head as to how the Bears keep winning, when we played them they seriously looked lost more so then us.

Because Pat Bowlen, the Broncos owner, is still paying Shanahan. To fire McDaniels is to pay big money to two guys who are no longer coaching the team. |
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
A poll and article from the Denver Post:
Kiszla: McDaniels looks like a beaten man - The Denver Post
In the aftermath of the Broncos' videotape incident, and 15 losses in the past 20 games, is there any way coach Josh McDaniels can regain the trust and support of Broncos fans? Total Votes = 2895 No. The combination of losses and "Spygate II" will never be overcome. Time to move on after this season. 2461 Votes, or 85.00 % Yes. If the Broncos can finish the season close to .500, fans will give McDaniels another chance. 434 Votes, or 14.99 %
|

Well you can't really judge him for Tim Tebow yet, and the Rams and Raiders are both solid teams this year. Also, Kyle Orton is having a monster year, and they got a few first rounders for Cutler, so I don't fault him for that at all. Brady Quinn for Peyton Hillis is a huge, huge fail, as is losing 16 of 21 games. That alone should get him fired. |
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Funny how McDaniel claims that the illegal taping was the independent action of a single individual when that individual (Steve Scarnecchia) was on Belicheat's video staff when violations were committed there. Not defending New England, but how can Goodell not take away at least one Broncos draft choice when he docked the Pats a 1st rounder for their Spygate?
|
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
I think Bowlen would like to be patient with him, but McDaniels sure is doing his best to get fired.
|
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
an 8 and 8 season is probably the best they can do, but it still may not be enough to keep McDaniel's job.

Yeah it's about time God started taking his fair share of the blame. LOL
The guy gets way too much credit. |

Immediately after the game, in his post-game interviews SJ was pretty hard on himself. Saying he would never forget or forgive himself for what he failed to do.

Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
Too bad we're not in the NFC West....
...the 49ers are 4-7 and just a game out of first place in the NFC West after Monday night's victory.
If the playoffs started today, only one of these 7-4 teams: Giants, Green Bay or Tampa Bay would be in the playoffs as a wildcard (the other wildcard would be 8-3 New Orleans) and the other two 7-4 teams would be out of it. Meanwhile the NFC West Division winner would be St. Louis with their 5-6 record. I think we may see this year a sub .500 team in the playoffs coming out of the NFC West. |
Too bad we're not in the NFC West....
Word. No Giants to sweep us every year based on talent alone. Then again, we'd be the oldest team in a division with Frank Gore, Larry Fitz, and Sam Bradford (I view Bradford as a stud). |

I know the AFC West looks better this year, but it's still a pretty weak group overall. The NFC West is a legitimate joke. While I like the division structure, I think the NFL could and should put a proviso in that no sub .500 team, even a division winner, can be in the playoffs if there are any .500 or better teams. Basically if a division can't produce 1 .500 team, the division loses it's right to a playoff spot that year. |
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
I am thinking that this year is the year that a 7-9 team wins the division in the NFC West. Last weekend while I was playing madden, in that division there were two teams at 7-9 tied for first place, and the 49ers were the winners, and they went all the way to the championship game!!! If they would have went to the superbowl, i would have recorded it and uploaded it here somehow...a 7-9 team making it all the way to the superbowl!!

On Madden, remember that is fantasy not reality. |
Re: Around the NFL (week 12)
I think someone will get to at least 8 wins in the west.
