Good column here...

Dan Daly has been covering the NFL and the Redskins more specifically for about 25 years.

This column is interesting reading...

and this
[quote]4. A few hours before the Patriots punched out the Jets, the Broncos fired Josh McDaniels, Shanahan’s successor. That’s not why I mention it, though. I mention it because a coaching change is usually followed by a roster shakeout. Translation: Some of Shanny’s former players, guys he wouldn’t mind having here, might be available to him now.

We might not be talking about a whole bunch. We might only be talking about one or two. But it all helps when you’re faced with the kind of reconstruction project the Redskins are.

make today a little bit better. it would be really nice to see a good young talent be brought in here for a reasonable trade with no crazy contracts. heres to the future :food-smil

Good read and all true. Boy!! how I envy teams like Philly, the Giants and NE, teams that know how to build and are never far from contention.

There's confidence among many that the Redskins are on the right track with this new outfit in town. I've been down this road so many times before that I've developed an attitude. That attitude suggests that despite the optimism, prove it, to do that is going to take something I may not have a lot of left. Thirteen weeks has been much too long to allow this AH saga to continue, the sad part is he will continue to be in the news for the remainder of this season and possibly into the next. It's a real sad state of affairs.

I think this thing with Haynesworth is becoming so unbearable that it's distracting guys on our team to a serious degree. I think now that he's gone for the season at least we might see a semblance of normalcy around Redskins Park and hopefully they can rebound, even if it's just a little.

Jason Garrett is going his stroke his damn red-headed ego like the chump backup he was and try to run the score up on us. I suspect he deliberately ousted Tubby so he could get the keys to the car, and now wants to make a big name for himself and landed the job he wants. And the sad thing is, I think he's going to be successful as we still haven't scored an offensive touchdown against them in ages and those ****ing Cowboys are playing better. Tashard Choice is their best RB and would run all over us....

From a talent standpoint, every team in the NFC east is head and shoulders above the Redskins. Shanahan and Co. has been charged with changing that, and over the next few years [if I live], I'll be paying close attention to his work and will be more than willing to see him be allowed enough time to get the job done. In the final analysis, regardless of the obstacles, he's going to be judged by the product he puts on the field.

Re: Good column here...

^^With the article mentioned above, it does bring up an interesting point; with McDaniels fired, more of Shanahan's players who fit both his and McDaniel's system could become available now.Example:
Guard Kris Kuper

Well SS you know I'm a 13 yr. survivor, though thankfully I remain in remission I have both good and bad days. Sometimes I feel the affects of the treatment is almost as bad as the disease itself.

We have a great many healthy young people here who still [hopefully] have a long time to wait for the Redskins to get better, unfortunately for me, I've already cashed in my thirty year plan more than twice, so seeing this team get better sooner rather than later ls the only remaining option I have.

OK . I will give you this, Philly, NE, and NY are looking good now. There was a time and place when these teams were poison and they were on the verge of going to another city (NE). All I know is that once we win again it will be a beautiful thing. We will win AGAIN.

LONGTIMEFAN... don't give up. My father gave up, I've been hurting ever since. I don't know what your status is now, just know that you will always be my Brother in this thing we call the Redskin Nation.

Sorry for the double post but......thank you warpaint and you too tdSKINS for your words of hope and inspiration. Believe me guys, I'll never give up, I didn't give up in 1997 when I was given four months to live and I'm not about too now. I just want to see the Redskins get back to that level of respectability where I can be as proud of them as I once was.

td i'll pm you.

I thought that was a good point too. How bout this one: Champ Bailey!
He may be next year's Phillip Buchanan, our 3rd corner (assuming we either keep Rogers or Barnes can earn a starting job).

Not sure what that has to do with this thread but...

I don't buy that JG tanked the offense on purpose. If Wade doesn't get fired during the season, JG could have been fired after the season right along with Wade if Jerry decided to clean house.

I have some issues with shanny but the bottom line is Albert showed disrespect to the team in the spring and in july when he came to camp overweight.

Honestly I didn't think that was a very good article at all, it was a recap nothing of real depth. Funny how he said enough about AH but his first point and a good portion of the article was about AH.

I'm curious to see just what approach the FO is going to take in it's efforts to rebuild this team. Is it going to be rebuild or that persistent method of reload? Young, hungry players committed to the Redskins is obviously the favored position to take as opposed to squandering resources on aging players that have melted their allegiance around the league.

Well one thing is for sure, If they didn't start taking the drastic measures as they have with AH, even the rookies would not be hungry to play for the Skins. I believe it is almost becoming ingrained in players and fans alike that the Redskins orginization is not to be taken seriously.

Just there to get paid attitude. This needed to be stopped in its tracks and the buck stops at AH.

The Redskins have to remake themselves into a respectable organization. Making players to know they need to earn not only there sign on but there future as a Redskin.

Further, I [along with many others] would love to see the Redskins begin treating draft picks like they are "gold". We only need to look back just a few years to see how we have squandered one opportunity after another on bad FA signings, trades and not making the most out of draft opportunities.

I'm among the many others. We need to stop giving up picks. Most "big" FA's just don't pan out for us. And we end up kicking ourselves come draft time.
