2011 NFL Schedule to be Released Tuesday at 7pm
So we've had April 19 as our placeholder for the schedule release show for a while (and really it rarely happens that it falls on the day we have the show tentatively scheduled).
As of this morning, it didn't look like it would be released (or so we were told), but late this afternoon we got word from the NFL it will be released tomorrow night. But anyway, what's interesting to me is it will be released as the same day as another round of mediation takes place. Wouldn't it be something (though perhaps unlikely) if an agreement was announced at the same time? (And yes I know what Redskins game(s) are tentatively on the schedule for Monday Night Football..but that's for me to know and you to find out) |
Re: 2011 NFL Schedule to be Released Tuesday at 7pm
This is ussually one of my favorite events of the NFL offseason....but I really can't get excited about it this year without knowing if these games will happen
|
Re: 2011 NFL Schedule to be Released Tuesday at 7pm
I'm not worried about the season not happening, but the current labor dispute definitely takes away from some of the excitement of the schedule announcement.

Re: 2011 NFL Schedule to be Released Tuesday at 7pm

I'm not worried about the season not taking place either. What does worry me is players showing up out of shape (guys like Trent Williams who need to be watched closely for the first few years) and rookies making less of an impact due to the fact that they'll have less time to study the playbooks and their reps will be cut due to a lack of OTA's, mini camps, and possibly training camp practices. The quality of the on field product could really suffer this year if they wait till July or August to hammer out a CBA. |

Personally I believe that Trent will continue to work hard and progress. I just think it's worth it for the team to take tabs on him from time to time. The slacking concerns were probably overblown on draft day and certainly not at the Andre Smith level, but nevertheless it was one of his red flags on draft day. In short I probably unfairly singled him out as he's been nothing but top shelf since he got here. I probably should have used Haynesworth as the poster boy. Luckily for us the culture has changed so much that in looking at the roster I can't really see anyone that is at risk for slacking off besides Albert. Trent was a reach on my part. |

Ya I mean I think it will work out for sure, but as someone who plans a trip down every year and schedule day is always when we decide when were going...and even though I think it will happen were not gonna book anything til we know for sure...and if this drags into late august or september, we might not go down for the first time since 03'. |

Yeah, I really just miss free agency
SS, do you have any inside knowledge of how the labor negotiations are going? Florio and other talking heads aren't confident at all... (I don't really intend for the CBA thread to bleed into this one, but you mentioned a hypothetical coincidental announcement of an agreement which got me wondering) |

Some insiders will tell you it's close, others will tell you it's a long ways away. No one truly knows |
Re: 2011 NFL Schedule to be Released Tuesday at 7pm
If the owners have any balls, they'll release an 18 game schedule.

Yeah, I really just miss free agency
Nah, y'all shoulda just pulled a writer's strike and said no CBA no schedule! I now blame SS and his unwillingness to stand up for us fans as the main reason there is no CBA yet. :soapbox: And I will be adding you as a named defendant in my upcoming lawsuit! :cheeky-sm |

Are they going to call this a Virtual Schedule?
|
Re: 2011 NFL Schedule to be Released Tuesday at 7pm
I'd rather see a schedule of when these nimrods will settle everything....like tomorrow, tomorrow would be good.

...but damn i cant wait to see the schedule
So they're supposed to put off all planning for the season that still could, probably will happen until...what...August? Throw team names in a hat and pick the schedule a week before it starts? Draft a week before the season? I'm not defending the greedy jerks, but the league still should be planning for the season to happen, even if they're not sure. We don't want to actually get a season and then discover there are scheduling conflicts and other mishaps. |

Well they made me pay for the tickets already so i should at least get to know which 8 days I need to make plans for. I would rather know the days even if they are gonna get cancelled then not know the dates at all. |

I would really like to snap the losing streak against the G-men, but then again this game may not happen. |

I thought for sure they would do Jets vs Giants on 9/11

And they would succeed in extending the lockout. |

We're in Toronto this year? I heard all day long it was gonna be the Eagles but Dan Helle says we're up there.... I may actually go to that game. I was never going back to Buffalo as an away team, but I might make the trip up to Toronto then...

No, I must bring bad news and ruin days to make myself feel better. The Redskins will not play in Toronto if I have anything to say about it. |

Re: 2011 NFL Schedule to be Released Tuesday at 7pm
We defintley need to get off to a quick start, I mean who knows how good or bad we'll be, we dont even know whos on the team...but looking at our schedule, many of our winnable games are early... closing against the Jets/Pats/@Giants/Min@Philly is a very tough end.
