Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
this is really unfortunate; both that he feels unappreciated & ready to move & that the writer says skins fans are pissed at him for "3 years of abysmal play." I appreciate that he's a tough lock-down corner who can really stay w/some great recievers. I wish a new deal w/him could be done, but whenever a guy is looking solely at his market value (don't know that he is, but sounds kinda like it) that usually means leaving to get it.
He's been good overall for us but at the same time has always had some relationship problems w/the coaches. Always sounded like he could be difficult to coach. |
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
Hey Carlos, the lockout doesn't mean that you are free to badmouth your team and talk like you aren't part of it.
What a tool...let him go already. It wouldn't scare me to have him play for the Cowboys or Eagles. At least you wouldn't have to worry about turnovers on his side of the field. |
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
I think it is a bit too much to say that his play was abysmal. Personally I felt frustrated with Rogers' play. If he had actually caught a couple of those balls that went his way, he'd be a top CB in the league. I think there's def a market for CBs for him, after Nnamdi of course.
|
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
I think Carlos is a solid corner that's been treated somewhat unfair by the Redskins. Like the Jason Campbell situation, it's just time for both sides to move on. I think the Redskins low balled him last year when they could've done the right thing and give the guy a much deserved raise.
|
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
Good riddance. One of the most frustrating Redskin players of all time.
|
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
He was good, but couldn't catch anything. I'm fine with him leaving. Plus I'd rather have a good proven corner like Ike Taylor come here than Los.
(sidenote; just saw Ike on Rome is burning, and the guy talks like his tongue got cut off.) |
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
If he feels he can get a better deal elsewhere...good for him. Unfortunately, the people he's talking too are not the one's that's going to pay him.
|
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
I agree with Ruhskins and Skinfan69, Carlos Rogers has been mistreated by the less knowledgeable fans and media. To say he is abysmal is wrong.
Carlos has played on some really terrible Redskins teams that had a terrible offense and no defensive line. Our run stopping last year was a joke. But Carlos drops a couple of INT's and he is the bad guy. Carlos is an athletic NFL cover corner. They do not grow on trees and there aren't that many CB's out there as good as him at covering a top NFL WR. The dropeed int's is over blown considering how good the rest of his game is. That would be like rating DE's and LB's solely on sacks. Oh wait they already do that. That is a mistake. |
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
I've brought it up several times here, and it's mentioned in this article as well. What is driving this as much as anything else is the fact that Rogers is beyond broke. Well, he was at least. I think he's in a bit of better shape now, but he is really looking for the money above all else.
|
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
Regardless of the reason, disappointing to be sure. Certainly not good form old man.......
|
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
Ass Monkey. Never been a fan. Hated the 2005 draft, even while I was watching it.
|
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
Darell Green, he aint.
|
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
I don't think the fact that he simply couldn't catch interceptions should just be dismissed. He is a very good corner, but he wants to be paid like a great one. Great ones are game changers, never felt Los was one
|
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
Los is frequently in position to make great plays, but....then his stone hands drop the ball.
Ergo...good not great. |
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
The what-could've-been interceptions will always be a source of frustration with Rogers--Exhibit A being the 2005 playoff game in Seattle (or am I shortchanging another one?). But over the last few years, I've viewed his position at corner as being at least one of the positions that we don't have a glaring shortcoming at. I don't really see us as being in a position to write a player off for being good but not great. I'd be disappointed to see him go.

..Could have been us or Carolina in the super bowl... |
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
Uh, this IS the same Carlos who has how many years and how many interceptions? Definitly need to throw his direction all day.
|
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
Uhhhhh, more cornerback talk. One of the 4 most important positions my arse.

Right!!! If we do have to play him twice a year, at least we know who to throw at in the 4th quarter. |

Wonder what Kevin Barnes can do?

Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
It's funny fans gush over DeAngelo Hall and they guy is absolutely horrible and has cost us more games than he's remotely won, but they destroy Carlos because the guy can't catch a cold. It's what I said about QBs, people only see the ESPN highlights, think that person is good at said position and repeat ad nauseum. See my D. Hall thread for proof.
Carlos > Hall That said, he (nor Hall) deserve big time money because one can't catch shit, the other can't cover shit. [quote=SmootSmack;803407]I've brought it up several times here, and it's mentioned in this article as well. What is driving this as much as anything else is the fact that Rogers is beyond broke. Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
"You hear that the Cowboys and Eagles are looking for a corner. It would be fun to play against the Redskins twice a year."
Not that he needs a change a scenary, or he needs to keep all his options open or he needs to think about his future or its a business. I understand all those previous quotes, but to come out and say Id join the Cowboys or Eagles our greatest rivals with out thinking twice...come'on man thats blasphemy round here and dude knows better. Eff you Carlos get the hell out then, join them. |
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
It's a real shame. Despite the fact that he couldn't catch a cold he did what it took to stop opposing receivers more so than most CBs. It's going to be difficult replacing him in the lineup unless it's with Nnamdi Asomugha].

Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
I get his frustration that he feels like with Springs and Hall he never got treated like the #1 guy. And was even benched a couple of times
But what was the last big play he made for us? |
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
So what? Los should be remembered as the #1 corner for the team with the fewest turnovers in history. Maybe he'll produce for someone else. Smoot felt like he was underpaid and underappreciated too.

This. ^ He can definitely cover better than D. Hall but Edward Scissorhands could catch more balls than Carlos. |

Not sure if serious? That was the second to last week of the season and we were 5-9 at the time. Way to step up with a big 1/2 game of work in a meaningless game Carlos. Doesn't really fall into the big play category if you ask me. |
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
Carlos has been beat deep more than ppl think
|
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
His best play came in 2008. Since then, he has not been as good. Good riddance, I wouldn't be surprised if he was one of the fellas Willie Parker was talking about.
If we give him a fat contract, I predict the results would be like the many Snyder contracts doled out. Let him go to Philly so they can boo him for dropping too many passes. That would be hilarious. |

I guess he wouldn't drop his paycheck, right? Oh wait, he apparently cannot hold on to his money either? He can be pissed when he has earned it and not been awarded some...imagined respect. |
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
I mean, I think his play as a whole was kind of under appreciated. I don't TOTALLY disagree with him, I think overall he was a pretty good corner during his time here...top ten pick? Maybe not, but in terms of shutting down his guy, I think he was pretty good.
Dude could NOT make a play though. For all the times D. Hall got beat deep last year, he was a playmaker and game changer. He pretty much won us two games last season (Dallas & Chicago)... I honestly think if Carlos didnt drop that pick 6 in 2005 we would have gone to the Super Bowl. But seriously man, shut the hell up. This guy whined the whole time he was here, always complaining about something, get the hell out of here then. I couldnt be happier about the roster turnover we've had since Shannahan got here. I am a little skeptical about the QB position still, but finally time to get some fresh faces around here. |

His pick pretty much won us the game. I agree with Saden overall though, I mean he couldn't catch a cold, but he did a good enough job for me while he was here. In terms of being a cover corner, I think Springs was better than Rogers, but I think Rogers was better than D. Hall. The only difference is D. Hall makes big plays and Rogers does not. |
Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
Kick rocks ya bum.. Another wasted draft pick by Vinny with DeMarcus Ware and Aaron Rodgers on the board. Rogers is a scrub, if he was wearing any other jersey than ours the past few seasons nobody around here would be craving him as a FA corner if we had a need. There are VERY few Redskins players I've disliked in my fandom years but this clown definitely qualifies.

Re: Rogers Ready to Move On
3 pages for a CORNER! I hate you all. I'd be happier with a 5 page thread for a long snapper.
