Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Details forthcoming

Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Just heard on SC. Wow. Adios, Tebowmania.
I gotta say, of the three teams that were left in the running, I thought Denver would be the odd man out for sure. |
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Tebowmania has been sidelined...for next season...barring any circumstances mostly beyond Manning's control, i.e injuries.

Wonder where Tebow goes now |

He could certainly fill some seats in his hometown, although they do already have Henne and Gabbert. I'd take him here as a backup in a second, but wouldn't want to give up the picks. |

Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Jacksonville?
|
Still surprised he chose Denver
|
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
I would definitely see him as a good backup candidate here from a physical standpoint. Won't happen though...can you imagine the situation that creates for whichever guy is our next starting QB?
|
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Hmm, maybe New England might be a surprise destination...if Joshy-boy can sell his mancrush on Tebow to Belichick. :laughing-
|
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
really crazy to me. When I heard Peyton was talkin to them, I was really surprised. I'm even more suprised that it's now gonna happen. I know Elway wasn't a Tebow fan, but the dude won a playoff game against one of the toughest defenses in the league that basically game planned to make him throw & beat them. And he did! I'm not saying Tebow is a sure thing as an nfl starter for the long-term, but he deserves more than this IMO. Huge risk, but really that's the case for any team taking a 36 year old coming off injury.

Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Wonder if Tebow ends up in Miami now...they need a QB after missing out on Flynn, Manning, and a slew of other guys. Wonder if Alex Smith stays in San Fran as well.
|
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
I guess the understanding before all this was Tebow would no longer be a Bronco if Manning signed with them. Even as a backup.
Simply because it would just be too much of a distraction to have both Manning and Tebow. I mean maybe he goes to San Francisco :) Josh McDaniels I'm sure would love him in New England, but they'd have to move Hoyer (or Mallett) first If I'm Tebow and the Broncos just flat out cut me I wonder where I'd want to play though |

Wonder where Tebow goes now[/quote] I'm seeing a lot of people saying Jacksonville, but I think they need to ride out another season or two under Blaine Gabbert. I think the Dolphins almost have to go all in to try to get Tebow. With Manning not heading to San Fran, I have to assume they lose out on Alex Smith and they've already lost Flynn. I probably like Moore as much as Tebow, but I doubt he gets Miami fans excited. If they got Tebow, people would at least come out to watch him. I have to think they push hard for him. It's been an interesting offseason so far. I definitely didn't think Peyton would go to Denver. I don't like his weapons or John Fox as his coach...at all. |
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
I'm no doctor...but does the thin Denver air benefit Peyton (and his neck) at all?
|
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Damn, Manning sure did **** the 49ers without vasoline.

There isn't a better option for them out there, and from a continuity standpoint it makes sense. Unless they feel ready to move on to Colin Kaepernick. |

I remember a few interviews with Shanahan giving Tebow gushing reviews. I don't think he'll come here in a million years, I'm just wondering if Shanny had legitimate interest. |
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Its shocking that he went to the team that could pay him the most.

please dear jesus let Alex Smith sign with the Dolphins. Love to hear Harbaugh spin this if he lost both. |
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
How about Tampa for Tebow? I mean I know they just signed Orlovsky but still...
Seriously though, of course Freeman would be the starter but if Tebow is willing to be the backup/gimmick QB for a bit until the right opportunity comes along, Tampa could work. With Quinn and likely Tebow gone, suddenly Adam Webber is the backup and the Broncos need to make some QB additions (perhaps Clausen reunites with Fox?), I could see them taking Foles or Cousins in the draft |
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Does this mean 49ers begin immediate negotiations with Alex Smith?
|
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
How is the Bronco's Oline?

Yes, plus Miami deserves a QB of Smith's caliber. He fits in with everything else in that organization: dull and makes you wanna barf midgame. |
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Miami should pursue Tebow if they don't get Smith. They've made the Wildcat work before, plus, they have nothing else to offer the fans. Might as well make the losing fun to watch.

Not after the little production of giving Vincent Jackson $55,555,555 (or Ocho Cincos as I've seen it jokingly called) as a "gift" to Josh Freeman. While I don't necessarily think it would be a bad fit, I can't see Tampa unsettling Freeman after a down year if they're actually committed to him |
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Wonder what the details of the contract will be. Mort is saying they've been talking about a 5 year/$95 million deal for a couple of weeks
I know that that's more then what the Redskins had been reportedly contemplating. I don't know if the $95 million includes the expected 25-30 million signing bonus |
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Good. Manning finally selected a team. Now, we don't have to discuss this any further. The question now becomes, which NFL team will Tim Tebow be traded to?
|
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
In retrospect Manning did Shanny a solid on this. Him getting out of the Skins biz so early let us make a move to get a qb. Look at all the teams scrambling for QB scraps now.
|
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
In all honesty who would trade for Tebow? Everyone knows he won't be a Bronco. The only reason to trade is to guarantee you get him versus having to woo him in FA.
|
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
I am happy he stayed out of the NFC honestly. I want to play him as little as possible and the thought of the playoffs going through SF with Peyton for the next three years is scary

They screwed themselves big time. Now that Peyton Manning, Flynn, and Jason Campbell are officially off the market, that makes Alex Smith, perhaps, the best remaining free agent QB on the market. Now that the market has dried up, Alex Smith's price has surely gone up. smh |

Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
I'll venture Tebow to Cleveland.

Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
Glad he's staying in the AFC. The 49ers would have been really scary with him.

It is easier to throw it deep up there. That's all I got. |
Re: Peyton Manning Chooses the Broncos
This is definitely a surprise, I wonder what made Broncos more appealing to Manning, compared to 49ers? Both have great defense but I believe 49ers have better weapons than Broncos.

One of the few times we can be thankful for Eli existing. |
